      When people still believe that god is real and their work for life for their kings, bosses and landlords is good because he helped tham and after that they will do nothing to develop their love and country and world never became peaceful and communism never exist

    Honestly even if you hate Communism you have to admit it was much better than Afghanistan today.

      It was an even bloodier time period, there was hundreds of thousands in refugee camps, the soviets made land mines that looked like toys so kids would pick them up
      Its hard to fight a Soviet when your child has a blown off arm

      The communists were responsible for destroying Afghanistan, because some the mullahs were rebelling against the communist regime. If the communists never took over Afghanistan, the Taliban would never exist

    @SuperMehdihassan The aim is not to beat Afghans, but to secure a friendly regime. Afghanistan for USSR was not like Vietnam for the US - it was like Cuba, a neighbour influencing Soviet Islamic republics. Any normal man realises how important Afghan is for The USSR.

    @uzpower pakistan created taliban after the cold war, after 9/11 we made pakistan pick sides and they chose our's so the taliban turned on pakistan. but a part of pakistan's isi has gone rogue and allied with taliban (haqqani is a branch of the taliban) while the military is loyal to the gov, and the gov hasnt found a leader with the balls to take on the rogue isi. would you rather support the military or invade?

    2. Earlier Тараки too asked Brezhnev to send militarians for its protection and its family. If the USSR each time entered army under the request of the president what or the countries probably there would be no people.

    I do agree insofar as his almost Malthusian sentiments reflect the worst kind of impediment to social advancement and progress justified by the precepts of religion. Though I don't think theology in and of itself has to represent or bring about such social impediment necessarily (see: liberation theology; even mainstream religious thought), it is fairly telling that a religious figure would say such things and claim to be acting in the interest of a religion that preaches inherent equality...

    Nonsenses of all this. The USSR already for a long time is not present. In Russia communists have no that authority that was at them earlier. The USSR has entered 1 battalion because there was an arrangement with Амином. If in protection at Амина there will be militarians from the USSR it will release on freedom Тараки and will stop reprisals in Afghanistan.

    indeed. Some believe its this side whos at fault, or that sides fault, or even that culture and religion is what causes violence in the world. History shows that its not always true.

    @uzpower Simple. imagine being an afghan living in a village with your family. one day an afghan communist from the other side of the country comes to your town and tells you not to believe in god and give him everything u own to be redistributed, and then the guy comes back later with a russian guy saying the same thing. what do u do? years later a taliban who grew up in pakistan comes to ur house and tells your daughter to wear a veil or get her hands cut off. what do you do?
