- Gary Cooper had many leading ladies throughout his career, and Ingrid Bergman is definitely one of the most iconic. They had amazing chemistry and the way they looked at each other is absolutely mesmerizing.
On a side note, while I was making this video, all I could think was, «My God, Gary Cooper really was disgustingly attractive.» I mean, seriously! There should be a law or something against looking like that. Especially in Technicolor. Gary Cooper in Technicolor is just WOW!

I've never understood the people who thought these two didn't have any chemistry in For Whom the Bell Tolls. I thought they had great chemistry. Both had very expressive eyes and were born for close-ups, especially Gary Cooper, who didn't have the benefit of the soft-focus effect that you see on Ingrid Bergman in For Whom the Bell Tolls. It's unfortunate that Cooper wasn't in any color films when he was younger, but you can see a short color clip of him in Star Night at the Cocoanut Grove.
