I found it really funny when you mentioned the ‘cold, bleak style’ of Normal People bc that is just the standard look of most (if not all) BBC series. It’s a reflection of our weather haha.

The second half, and especially the overall finale of EEAAO is some of the most awe inspiring and emotionally resonant filmmaking I've ever seen. It's a real shame that even after a second watch it didn't seem to click with you. Personally I don't think I'll see a more captivating and powerful film for the rest of the year.

The thing about the last 45 minutes of Everything Everywhere All At Once for me is that the “humorous” moments don’t land as humor to me. By that point, I’m so invested in the movie and its characters that the moments land genuinely. SPOILERS AHEAD:
When the hibachi cook is crying about losing his companion, I’m not laughing but crying with him. When Evelyn and Deidre reconcile in the hot dog universe and do their dance, I find that it means so much to me because of what Evelyn is doing for her across every universe: showing her that she can be loved. All those little moments that people around me have laughed at, I have cried cathartic tears at because the Daniels all relate it back to the central message of the film: that nothing matters, and there is always something to love, so be kind.
That’s just my two cents on why I think Everything Everywhere has become my favorite movie of all time.

And I agree, Normal People is basically how everything I wanted to be for a teen romance series and I love every single minute of it. One of my favourite miniseries of all time. @@nutellaJar the things is, when my friends told me to watch a certain TV show, after the dissapointing GOT season 8, I turned off their advice because I'm just so afraid that I got invested with a show, love it so much then either gets cancelled or ends poorly and I felt like I wasted my time. And sometimes it happens to me, sometimes it took me months to move on from a show that ends extremely poorly. Which is why I rarely watch TV shows and just go for movies instead because it managed to complete a story in 2 hours. Or even a miniseries that can took me atleast a day to binge all. Granted my country doesn't have Hulu so it make sense why I wasn't aware that Normal People came out in 2020 but yeah, that was the main reason why I rarely watch TV anymore

I would personally suggest a Korean tv series called “alchemy of souls”. It’s a high fantasy historical drama that is 20 episodes long, that is soon to have a part 2 coming out in December. It’s genuinely such a unique concept as it’s set in the past but has modern day features such as hairstyles and makeup/cosmetics but also magic/sorcery. The villain is genuinely so despicable yet has depth, the chemistry is palpable, the characters are well written and the cinematography (for a tv series) is amazing. It’s also well paced and it genuinely deserves way more hype! The fight scenes are also so well executed and tense.
