What is your favorite V8?
The original V8 is my favorite.
Spicy Hot 🔥.
Low sodium. Regular is WAY to salty..
Engine
The original is all I've ever had but I love it.
I'm a big V8 fan, especially the reduced salt* type.
*A teaspoon of lemon 🍋 juice brightens it up.👍
Can't stand the reduced salt version sadly.
They have had so many flavors over the years and lemon was one of them! I missed that one a lot. The black pepper one is also one I miss and, Of course because I liked it they pulled it back. Sigh
I thought i was the only one that put lemon
Why do humans crave things which are bad for us and dislike foods that are good for us. That's what I'd like to know.
Good to know. I’ll have to try that!
I love V-8 vegetable juice! Not only do I love to drink it, I love to cook with it too. Makes great base for chili and vegetable beef soup as well
My dad made great chili with V8
I ran out of tomato juice while making my chili and I had some V-8 and decided to try it. It turned out to be the best decision I could have made. it's the only way I make my chili now 😁
use the spicy V8 in spaghetti sauce
Good for American chop suey as well.
I never thought of that before. I will give it a try cooking wise.
I absolutely love the “spicy” version. It tastes wonderful. The other day as I was buying a case at my local home improvement store, where it’s half the cost of the grocery store, a guy next to me said- “wow, that stuff must be good huh!” Me- “it’s fabulous.” As I loaded up my case I couldn’t help but notice that he had a bottle in his cart also.
The spicy is awesome in homemade chili!
At the Home Improvement store? Gonna try some v8
Oh, the spicy is the 💣!
The 'spicy' version is way better when enjoyed with a good brand of Vodka! ;-)
I like the regular version with two or three drops of Tabasco instead.
V-8 was my go to when I'd party my ass off over the weekend... I could literally feel it giving me energy to face the day before me...Great Stuff!
lol
l drink half a V8 and eat a large Chorizo/Egg burrito, 30mins - 1hr later... I'm good to go! I've done that for yrs... it works.
Same here... but put Tabasco pepper and lemon juice.
V8 is my go to after a hard workout
At least v8 helped you straighten up and not underwood.
In the late '70's, I had a Plymouth Valiant.
Loved that car. But, I wanted a 1970 Plymouth
Roadrunner. "I could have had a V8!"
(Got the Roadrunner, with the 383 V8.) I got
the V8! (Well, all 8 cylinders were animals!)
steve
My first car in 1978 had a 383 motor. That car was a 1972 Chrysler Newport, hand me down from my parents. Not quite the same as a Roadrunner. But six months later I bought a 1971 Camaro Z28 SS. I basically trashed the Newport in those first six months driving but learned from that and kept the Z for six years.
I picked up a 69 valiant a few years ago. One of these days I’m gonna yank the slant 6 and fab a v8 into place. It’s a sweet looking car
Yep- it's been proven, that a V8 is always the best choice! lol
My grandmother developed type 2 diabetes in her early 80s. Besides taking a shot of insulin every day she had to really watch her diet. Everyday at lunch she had a salad and the salad dressing that she made for herself started with a base of V8 juice. She was given the recipe by her dietitian. It was awesome! Unfortunately I was only 10 when she passed away so I don't have the recipe.
You shared her story and that’s ❤ love for Mom
It’s very simple: 4 oz. V-8, 1/2 teasp salt, 1/4 teasp wine vinegar or apple cider , a shake of onion powder/ garlic powder, red pepper flakes. Shake well🧑🏽🍳 . Enjoy ☺️
@@harrylutz7321 The two things that I do remember: there was no vinegar, and she added either chives or green onion, and blenderized it.
@@joyfulsongstress3238 VA recipe for my diabetic dad. I’m sure the vinagar was his idea 💡😊
My 81 year old grandpa drinks half a can every morning with a few dashes of Tabasco sauce. Says it's good for your arteries. I don't know if any of that is based in fact, but the old man still works harder than a lot of people I know!
I’ve been drinking V-8 since I was a little kid. Still do always will.
I remember this was big in the 90s. My dad would make us drink v8 instead of soda 😂
Purple V8 was a slap when the adults got on their diet/no sugar kicks 😆
Lmao. Me too.
Same here! I looked up at him and cried 🤣
I grew up with V8 and still like it. It's better than chemicalized over caffeinated energy drinks.
You don't think V8 has chemicals? I bet it's full of roundup for starters.
@@ronprice1819 you bet or do you actually know?
@@birdboy16 well considering every single thing we eat has round up in it... And all of our bodies now test positive for it... Yes I know it does.
My favorite juice! I first liked tomato juice and then I wanted to try original V8 and now Tomato juice tastes plain because I am used to V8. Can be high on sodium but I do like getting the my Vitamin C and vegetables intake. The original Plant powered Drink, Veg Up!
I love the original V-8!
They do have a low sodium version
@@suebrubaker6182 I know, it won’t taste the same and I only drink original V8 once a day. Milk and water I drink even more throughout the day.
@@suebrubaker6182 I mix 1 bottle regular spicy with 1 bottle low sodium it still tastes great, but is much better nutritionly. Regular has like 650 mg sodium per serving and reduced sodium has around 150 mg per sodium. Hellova difference
@@lawrencelampke6007The label on the 12 oz bottle of original V8 I’m drinking right now says it has 960mg of sodium in it! Holy crap!
I know for myself, that when I’m feeling sluggish, and need a good pick-me-up, I can drink V8, and it actually restores my energy! The original energy drink, without harmful side affects.
I also like to crumble saltines in it, and eat it like that. Mmmmm! Mmmmmm!
Yep, a glass of V8 every day and yes, that is how I do my veggies. 👍
When I make vegetable soup I use 1/2 beef stock/broth and 1/2 V8 for the broth. Cut back on salting the other ingredients.
Been drinking and loving this since the 60s. I worked at a company right next to Campbell's to help develop Prego spaghetti sauce back in the 90s. Get in my belly!!!
v8 has no sugar. all the others do. still the best juice you can buy.
It has 7 grams per serving according to the label.
@@Joisthanger1 Vegetable sugars.
@@Joisthanger1Vegetables contain sugars.
V8 isn't meant to be substitute for regular food it's a drink I buy it by the cases and keep it around all the time
O wait I forgot it makes the best bloody mary's it's the beverage of choice
I always liked the original flavor. I use it when I make vegetable soup.
Me too, it is a must have for vegetable soup 😋
I also like in tomato soup instead of milk.
@@margaretbedwell3211 I'll try that, thanks
Been swapping out cans of coke for a juice box "V8 Breakfast" drink. Tropical flavour (tastes amazing) not the tomato ones. Could be a placebo effect but I'm feeling a bit better, plus knowing you're swapping pure sugar out for something a bit better makes you feel more positive mentally 👌
You're feeling the good nutrients you were missing
Thank you for the history lesson! I occasionally drink the low sodium vegetable version. Love the slogan, "I Should of Had a V8! 👍
V-8 juice Came out with a V-8 Juice that had added " Lime Juice " .
I criticized that idea, and just as they were Closing it Out on the Market, I gave it a try .
" I Definitely " Regret Criticizing " it and waiting to try it until it was closing out !
Beside good health benefits it was one of the " Best Tasting " products on the Market " !
" I hope that one day they will bring it back " !
Add your own lime juice.
I find it tastes the best when the cans are soaked in a tub of ice water over night and with more ice added in the morning with salt added to the ice bath the cans of V-8 are in. V-8 is best served ice cold on a hot summers day.
I like the "spicy" version. Extra hot sauce and extra salt for me.
I LOVE V8, just the regular one. I've been drinking that since I was a kid. MANY years.
It's the base of every great Bloody Mary. Past that. It's better than a sugary soda..not as healthy as water and earing an actual vegetable ( plus there's a lot of salt in it)
Me too ... I never had or ever will use any juice other than V-8 for a Bloody Mary ..then I add Tabasco ,Worcestershire, lemon and horseradish ... makes a absolutely perfect Bloody Mary ..not only is V-8 perfect for a Bloody Mary I find since it's such a substantial juice you just dont drink as much
I do this with the low sodium version, because of the sodium in the other ingredients, and it's awesome
V8 is delicious with vodka. True story. 😁
Try clamato, celery salt, Tabasco and Worcestershire with a little olive brine
@@scottp4077 and vodka…
@@MikeKilo1969 that goes without saying lol! Try a slim Jim instead of celery...
@@scottp4077 I sure will because I don’t eat the food that my food eats!
I like the spicy v8 with pickled aspergras and worstershire
My father lived to be 85 despite being a 3pack camel smoker swore by his V8 everyday. I myself am approaching 70 & I have my spicy V8 everyday & use the low salt version for soup stock. When juicing veggies became the rage, I just laughed. I'll take my Spicy V8. In my family, the joke is when you turn 40 the dormant V8 gene becomes active.
Funny you say that. I never really thought of v8 before I turned 40 and at 44 literally found myself craving it. Now I drink a glass or 2 every day.
I love V8, and it’s great to use in a Bloody Mary, my favorite.
Blueberry Pomegranates blend most favorite. Can't find it anywhere.
I love V-8 juice, I think it is delicious. When I was a little girl under age 4 which was 1950 and we went to a restaurant that served delicious dinners and they started your meal with a tiny glass of V-8 juice as a starter course.
Thank goodness that V-8 has a low sodium alternative!
Only Problem is I found out what makes V8 so good, it’s the salt.
The low Sodium version is terrible. I do drink it but spice it up with pepper and hot sauce.
@@RedWhiteAndBlueVideo Yeah, or buy the low sodium and put a few shakes of Himalayan pink salt or a splash of Bragg liquid aminos in it.
I generally agree with you on the low sodium version; however, I found that the low sodium/spicy hot version was quite an improvement. If you are forced to be on a low sodium diet (and for a while I was) that was the best compromise available.
I’ve been drinking V-8 for over 50 years. Switched to lo sodium 30 years ago when I developed high blood pressure. Takes a few weeks to get used to it , but now I find the original way too salty and much prefer the lo sodium
@@walterdudek9752 That makes sense.
After you stop eating lots of salt or sugar your body stops craving it and over time things with low salt or sugar will start to taste better.
Taste buds are just too used to high salt or sugar so when you stop eating that it takes some time to get used to.
I’m a truck driver and I use to go to a frozen food warehouse in Napoleon,Ohio. They had these large plastic containers filled with a black frozen product, when I asked the forklift driver what the product was, he told me that it was V8 juice. I asked him why it was black and he told me that it was condensed and they added water and red food coloring.
That dosnt sound too good
I can vividly remember what my wife said to me on our honeymoon night. "Honey, I should have had a V8."
Larry, THAT is cause for a divorce, to my way of thinking.
I prefer the Low-Sodium V8, original recipe. I only add a wee bit of Tabasco and a shot of vodka to make it perfect!
I keep Spicy Hot V8 on deck at all times! 🌶
Try it in chili!
@@scottp4077 That’s a great idea! I love them both! Thanks for the tip. (:
I love v8 original! I even cook with it .
I don't know why but I always got it on Flights, then after a couple years I decided to take a peek at the label and realized it has over half the amount of daily recommended sodium intake! probably explains why I never need to use the restroom on flights
THE ORIGINAL V-8 HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVORITE DRINK!!!
It have’s a great taste,we would drink a lot when I was small. I still drink V 8 today.
I own a blender. I make my own super healthy version. I even ferment it.
What's in it ? I love fermented veggies
I drink it every morning. I use it when I make goulash. Eveyone love it😋❤
I have low sodium which is difficult to manage. Adding V8 into my diet has helped immensely. No more dizzy spells. 😊
V8 is one of my best friends. Period.💚💚💚
Very concise video!
I prefer natural carrot & orange juice
So... It's actually V7+1 fruit... LOL
I love it by the way...
I love the original V8. I've been drinking it since I was a kid. 🙂
V8 is the greatest, I've been drinking it since it came out.
I put brewers yeast into my low sodium v8 ,it ferments and gives it a great healthy kick .
Awesome video man 😎
It's good stuff. A bit salty. I think I will keep the pepperidge farm layer cake thing going, a carrot here and there, coffee, you know the routine
I was in a bar down the Jersey shore in the 70's the girl next to me orders a Red Eye,sounded like a cowboy drink, turned out it was tomato juice and beer.
Wouldn't that be a clamato or something like that?
Married an Idaho boy who just called it "Red Beer" 😃
Now in California I order what my local Mexican restaurant calls a Michelada and you specify which beer. Still love it even if I don't have home canned tomato juice from my mother-in-law.
I detested V8 when I tried it as a drink. However, when I tried putting it in a bowl, heating it up, and eating it with a spoon, it was great! Amazing that such a disagreeable drink made such a great soup!
I love all of the V8 juices! The strawberry 🍓 banana 🍌... It is so yummy 😋 and I like the original V8 juice...I like to add a pinch of salt right into the bottle. I don't care 4 the spicy hot v8's! I haven't tried the smoothie v8 juices yet. Perfect for a high boost for low potassium and magnesium/fiber levels...My levels are very low....So I really need the xtra ...I also have low sodium levels...In my opinion...I do believe it's very healthy and good for you! My doctor recommended V8 juices along with Ensure shakes since I have Short Bowel Syndrome Disease.
I have a shit appetite and am on a serious medication that causes a lot of nausea I'm on chemo anti nausea drugs it's so bad. I drink carnation instant breakfasts and whole milk instead of ensure because those are so expensive I cant afford them. But I get 40 breakfasts for like 11 bucks and the milk is about that so 22 bucks for t he whole month.
I love V8 but hate thinly veiled advertisements under misleading titles.
I like it warmed up with black pepper.
I'm going to have to try that, especially since it's still cold and snowing here. I bet it's a comfort when you're under the weather too
we always made V9 I glass of V8 with an ounce or two Vodka. great way to start your day!
I love this with some texas pete 😍😍
Go V8! Life saving idea! But I look for the less expensive versions.
Highly recommend original V8 low sodium. You will not miss the extra sodium.
Most of us disagree. Low sodium is not good tasting.
@@timnoyb2431 I love it.
Regular V-8 does have quite a bit of salt but the Low-Sodium version is ok. I wonder if they take the fiber out on purpose. Only 3 grams of fiber per can is a lost opportunity. I am sure it is better eating the vegtables themselves, just like it is better eating fruit rather than fruit juice. When eating real fruit, fiber and pectin slows the passage of food through the intestinal GI tract, helps lower blood cholesterol.
Never have I seen sweet potatoes on the list of ingredients.
In a Bloody Mary I prefer only V-8 and vodka. Great drink.
i never liked the v-8 smack ad campaign when it was someone else smacking the person, esp if it was a stranger...it seemed really rude even if somewhere there was a good intention...
Now that you mention it, those commercials always made me feel alittle uncomfortable.
Love V8.
More and more studies are showing that sodium isn't nearly as bad for blood pressure as once thought. Basically sodium only raises blood pressure in people who have a sodium sensitivity.
I've always tolerated vegetables and rarely crave one over another. But I know I have to consume some amount of real vitamin material. Low sodium V8 is my savior in this matter. Most people I know drink it cold, like a cheap gazpacho. I like it as warm as I can get the can with hot tap water. I can slam it and get it over with when it's warm. When it's cold I have to pace myself.
I buy it by the case and it spares me from having to relive my childhood experiences of being forced to eat fkin vegetables. I still don't like it, but it seems so much better than rickets, scurvy etc.
Also, if you freeze it, it thaws into a peculiar tasting drink, so don't leave it in the trunk when there's snow on the ground. It may not burst, but that doesn't mean it's still good.
Potassium is my reason for the low salt v8
Yes, I have to be careful as a kidney patient
V8-so smart with the little cans. Ice cold-first sip-Wow,I forgot how good!!! 2nd sip-ok,nice 3rd sip-hey,pretty good 4th sip...I'm about over it and guess what? It gone!
Not sure why we had to know this. I thought we would be told our arm would fall off or something if we drank to much.
I add my own Tapatio to it. Delicious!
I'm fairly certain you have the eight ingredients of V8 incorrect. I'm looking at a bottle right now. They are: tomatoes, carrots, celery, beets, parsley, lettuce, watercress, spinach. Sweet potatoes and purple carrots are in other "fruit" varieties of V8.
V8 bars, is that where the fiber went? I'll have to check those out but I've never seen them for sale at my stores I'm in Tennessee. Good job you guys!
I just spent 50$ on V8 omg it's amazing! I'm glad I found out about low sodium that's what I'm going to order from now on! But sodium is the molecule that makes us human.
So I bought a 48 the lable said it had 3 servings of veggies but other stores only claim 2 servings. Both claim original. Any answers?
Great for hangovers
Love the high fiber!
I sprinkle cayenne pepper in my serving 1st thing in the morning.
I get a ton of energy!
Love V8. Mix in some cayenne pepper . . . YUM!!
THAT WAS GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT THE V 8
Celery, for when you just got to bite into some water, with hair.
Mis info , ever see the lack of V-8 in grocery stores?......not because its good for you ....its Great!
When I have a cold I drink it. Also orange juice and ginger ale.
no sugar??? then why does this V8 Splash contain high fructose corn syrup??? I am holding it in my hand right now and I am useing a magnifying glass and reading the Ingredients; WOW!
I love the original v8 juice, I've tried the low sodium version, but it isn't as good as the original. I've been drinking it for years, about 2 bottles per week.
That is a lot of salt and you might develop high blood pressure by consuming too much salt.
@@Chaoitcme I already have high BP, but my meds for it keep it normal. Every time my BP is tested it's normal. Sometimes I just crave the stuff. I should just drink half a bottle when I have it, but, I hate to drink it cold out of the fridge, so, I just drink it all.
And, still sometimes I crave it all anyway.
Not so much if you don’t gave any other salt.
@@kerrylynnparsons9441 Yeah, but EVERYTHING seems to have a ton of salt in it. Most things anyway.
Switch to low sodium and add some lemon pepper.. You won't miss the salt!
I mix Spicy Hot V8 and Miller Lite to make a great drink.
I mix half a glass of low sodium with a half glass of hot and spicy! Lower sodium and lots of flavor!
I love it, but it’s really hard to buy in the UK at the moment. No idea why.
It's good with vodka too
Good Stuff!
Interesting.
I love V8. I dont have time to chew a ton of vegetables or to cook them.
I hear ya
I drank them after I drank mixed drinks drank them the next morning for hangovers n they worked great for me.on hangovers I approve of them for sure n today's drinks.r wonderful they taste great
The recommended level of salt is ridiculously low. I would not hesitate about drinking V-8 based on its modest level of salt. Where does one think the acid needed to digest food comes from? A: the chloride in salt. And all cells in the body require sodium to operate. This is the kind of fundamental stuff that lead me to ignore doctors in my teens. Now I am a very healthy 73. 😀
indeed. the main reason for high salt levels in the blood is dehydration. That is farm more dangerous than the salt itself.
Too much sodium in our body increases water retention and depletes the potassium levels. Potassium is very important and the body requires it in high levels. Eat an avocado a day and lots of cruciferous veggies
Its great always has been!
V-8 hot and spicy, little salt, pepper, room temp, not cold, LOVE IT!
Sugar in V-8??? NASTY!
My wife and I make our own version of V-8 juice. Tomatoes, celery, beets, a small onion, carrots, green and yellow bell pepper, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, ground black pepper, sea salt.
I love it. It's perfect for a pick me up when my sugar is off.
V-8 makes the best Bloody Mary's!
Makes a great Bloody Mary base
Definitely!
Exactly.
👍With beer, it’s a “poor-man’s margarita”!
Does it taste good ?
