I'm in love with this. Her character is broken and low. Her voice matches the tone and the music elevates just what she's emoting. It's heartbreaking and gorgeous
She feels the guilt...
@@leakyjeep5.9 rapid eye blinking
She's actually a really good contralto but people in youtube comments don't seem to understand so whatever
Ruairí Weiner Oh cmon, her vocal chords are clearly ruined. Shes constantly off key in her lower range and even natural contralto`s have some flexibility. She has an 'upper' range but she cant connect it 1:50 so she 'speaks' in one tone 1:29. Shes better suited to poetry nights.
She's been a chainsmoker for 40 years and made a career screaming like a banshee so it doesn't surprise me that her voice is shot. I still think it's worn and beautiful, though she had much more range when she was younger.
No she just don't know how to sing she never could
Weiner, don’t be a weenie Courtney Love sucks. A butt load of her music was written by her Kurt :/
@@Sarasapien theres literally pages of lyrics written by HER which is all in her diary and online. maybe kurt helped her in some way but that was courtesy of him considering oh i dunno SHE'S HIS WIFE. don't be so stupid.
I'm cringing to see some people remark about her singing being "bad". She has very strong punk sensibilities and emerged from the grunge scene. Sounding "pretty" and technically good runs completely counter to what punk music is about. It's about raw emotion and visceral attitude. And I think that grittiness is perfect here
elm1230 I feel the same way. To me she has a low register that sounds good singing punk rock.
Yep, young dumbshits says that. It sounds like Lou Reed, really appreciate that !
at least she doesn't whisper ASMR , we can hear her voice, it's raw like the song.
Exactly!
lol bye
it's all about character guys... wake up, this is not Disney TV
exactly.
"All I ever wanted in this lifetime was to see a movie with you....." Love, love, love this, and love her.
Courtney's voice is very similar to Marianne Faithfull's when she released Broken English.
This is stunning, Courtney knows her limitations and is the first to admit them. The way she performed this song and the decision to have her play this part is refreshing to hear, especially when most musical theatre/opera singers have perfect/precise singing voices (which I also love). It's an experimental show and this sounds like no musical theatre song out there. Beautiful composition and performance from everyone.
She's in tune for the most part of the song. She has a contralto singing voice, whose vocal range is the lowest female voice type, between F3 and F5. It's a very rare singing voice, present in less than 1% of the female population. Perhaps that's why most people think she's off key, because this is not something we're used to. Her contralto has gotten even more intensified over the years with lifestyle and smoking, which is why it's "rougher" or lower than her voice when she was 25. But even that was contralto.
I just love her ability to never give up.. and her Art shows that.. she is her own masterpiece.. that’s what is about.. not what others think..
2:28 Jesus christ - those eyes! My goodness. This woman still stirs my soul, like nobody else, 25 years later.
I really like this...something about it reaches out to me....and that cello is haunting..and she has such pretty blue eyes....but super interesting performance love it
I really like this. I wish Courtney would do similar songs like this in the future.
Lots seem to think she did horribly. But this was meant to be an emotional piece. The moments of clarity she has while singing this song are pretty chilling.
She was perfect for this piece. If you have a rugged little rant, this is who you want doing it.
what, not like russell crowe?
Raw and beautiful
Thank god someone gets it. This is amazing.
Someone else with taste
You are so right. So raw.
honesty is never a slave it is and can go various ways but only honesty has class..it can rebel, it can self destroy but only honesty can have any real strenght and power and be direct...it is for the brave ones!
Lol
Ah. More Cobain experts commenting on UA-cam. How nice. #206
I'm glad Nirvana fanboys don't like Courtney Love. She's too real for them, they don't deserve her :)
cletis derp Why don't they like her? Im new to both of em btw
I live Kurt I love her old band hole
huge Kurt fanboy here, who also happens to be a huge Courtney Love fan.
Odd perspective. Love them both.
Good coz we don't want her
Take from someone who is a previous widow, Kurt is haunting her.
Thats so crazy i can tell the same thing
Beth Bright previous widow? what happened, did your husband CE back to life?
What you mean ?
Le sigh, yeah. You can see it in her outbursts and self-destructive patterns over the years. But I think she has resigned herself a bit. She tried the 'reformed rock diva starlet' thing and the unchecked excesses from that period led her to become undone. I feel a smidgen of compassion for her, because it's like she can never truly rid herself of her demons, and to embrace them is like embracing the abyss itself. So she runs from them, games them, incorporates them into a 'burn the witch' persona. She's the personification of emptiness.
No he's not! She isn't even thinking of him! It's someone else! It isn't always about Kurt.
I know i should not have read the youtube commets...this trolls critizazing Courtney about the "Killing Kurt thing" or the "Not singing well thing"..
People, specially teens are so used to the autotuned mainstrean shit that they cant just deal with any alternative raw powerful stuff... its so sad.. music industry its really really fucked up
well done Courtney ..Congrats!!Amazing Performance
"Just when I let myself relax, you leap and I look for you...again."
You say it so well. I feel much the same. For so long, I admired the emotions and experiences singers like Courtney conveyed to me as a young person, and I constantly wanted that real life experience for myself--to "really know what she's talking about." Of course, now that I've actually had my share of heartaches and struggles, I love her music in a different way--not more or less, but more crucially.
First time seeing this...wow, I am floored. I literally came to the floor to sit and watch this, shed a few tears too. This is insanly beautiful. My heart Is so full and broken at the same time. 💔
I wish I could see this show. Court has been getting good reviews. Some have comment how her voice reminded them of Marianne Faithfull. I thought the same thing when I first saw this video.
The French love this kinda thing they love raw art they get it !
I can't believe this only has 50 thousand views. It's one of my favorite things.
I actually like her voice on this
That ghost line hit me right in the feels.
YOU'RE TEARING ME APART LISA 1:54
new album when ?
Is there a video of this show??? They are not doing this live anymore u assume. Thanks!
Such a performer! I love this woman so much!
Not to keep on bringing up Kurt but this sounds alot like there story all they ever wanted was a family and love i think Kurt is still with her that "how cares" but brought tears to me her vicals arent supposed to be AMAZING its about emotion if it was supposed to be amazing she wouldn't be singing it end of but its because of emotion she fits the role you can see her eyes just in awe of him she loves him still and always will
Omg! You really have no clue, do ya? 😂
love it saw her live what a woman
She is absolutely brilliant❤️
omg I would just die to see this opera!!! LOVE it! go CL!
Courtney knows she is not a good singer. She gets by on her attitude and emotion and that's fine. She has an X Factor that many people don't.
This made me cry
What a voice ..... Scary voice. Was that singing? Or talking? I'm scared.
I LOVE this song. Does anyone have the chords to it?
This is a true interpreter of song. She is next in line for marianne faithfull's throne. This is mind blowing. The beauty is killer.
really love the respect for the cello and piano. beautiful.
So powerful!
surgey has made super beautiful!
'ALL I EVER WANTED' was for Courtney Love to learn how to sing!
i love her music so much! such a real and strong voice
Absolutely love this. Courtney’s voice is one of the greatest in history.
I love the emotion!!! Its total cabaret!! Intelligent lyrics and the fact she has lived it!! Its authentic!! And la serpenta!! Yes you are not a musician and singers sing live!! There is a big difference between studio and stage!! They are not always kind to their voices or bodies!! This is tradition, this is storytelling!! And beyond the contrived emotion where she beats the piano, cos she is a newbie to this sort of thing and got rave reviews, I think this is brill!! So away with you and crawl underneath the weight of your own ignorance
Beautiful you Courtney and wonderful instrumentation!!!!!!!!!!!!❤
Wtf? She gave me the chills
It's a wonderful piece of music. She may not always hit the right notes. But that's not everything a good performance/song is about.I like her voice, because it is so raw and pretty unique in conveying emotions!I feel it!Thank you Courtney.
The rawness of this performance sends shivers down my spine.
She is stunning
can we not just focus on the cello and how beautiful this is? take your hate and conspiracies somewhere else...get a hobby. marianne faithful, anyone?
OMG YES!
I'm so in love with this.
That was perfect for me right now.
I love this performance. --Alex Kalamaroff
i read a book and laugh at a sentence i know you would hate
The grain of her voice!
this is beautiful
I agree and she is really so beautiful without make up and she has so beautiful blue eyes...I want to have her blue eyes!!! ;-)
Kurts. Shoulders??? Haha what a interesting name....hahaha.....i think my most fav name i remember seeing here on the tube is "surfing on brainwaves " but kurts.shoulders has to be like top 5 haha
Justmiss jamey haha awesome! Thanks

You still have it!
all I ever wanted in this lifetime was to see a movie with you.
Better and better over time each time 💜💣
This is amazing…..There just a rawness to this ❤️❤️❤️❤️
My Dog won't stop howling : o
😂
goose bumps every time
No auto tune?
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!
Proud of her
Beautiful. Thank you Courtney. 🌹
my ears!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH
I never....ever.....thought I would say this in my lifetime, but.......I think I'd rather watch The Kardashians.
performs....not sings.
I don’t think you understand what a rock opera is....
why are people critisizing her singing..this isnt supposed to be singing its acting of a sort..this isnt a song even...theres no melody even
Well done Courtney ❤️
Just a reminder to everyone on here who is getting annoyed/bored by the trolling on this~ just click the arrow at the end of the comment & report.
well im lost in internet :) wrong way sorry officer i go back :)
Strong alt-voice, love u Courtney
it's a very Lou Reed kinda style vocal.
I just LUV this song and The performance youre adorable Courtney
This so quickly invokes memories of Marian Faithful, it is uncanny.
Too bad she doesn't have Lori Goldston on the Cello...(not to take away from this excellent cello player)
😭😭😭😭😭😭❤️❤️
A lifetime of smoking, drinking, and drugging has left her with a baritone voice. Wow!
Contralto is the lowest female voice register (it’s below alto). She is an alto now definitely... NOT a baritone. Before, earlier in her career, she was a mezzo soprano or alto.
But yes, unfortunately her vocal chords have suffered a lot of damage. I prefer her 1988-2006 voice the best.
She still rocks though.
I love the way Loves vocals have withered and 'aged', there's a real beauty in that. Just look at her as well, look at that passion and strength, so inspiring
Save my soul
Surgery ruins a persons beauty true but try to listen to the music instead of look at so e ones mistake. She sounds similar to Marianne Faithful.?
+Digger MARIANNE'S MY GODMOTHER & SHE'D BE GLAD OF THE COMPARISON ''DIGGER''
Oooooh you are so very lucky to have gotten to see the play!!! I so wish i could have seen it, as it sounds like it was touching....here in indiana we do not get a lot of good, interesting thinhs like this.....is there a way to see it online, or dvd ??? And thank you kindly for putting the synopsis of it here
💖
TOUT CE QUE FAIT COURTNEY ME PLAIT BEAUCOUP COURTNEY POUR TOUJOURS!
❤
Fine Courtney, i'll go watch a movie with you. Jeez.
❤️💕
Her character appears according to the current situation
A reflection of a chaos seen through shoegaze classic rock perspective
Cause she knows what she wants 😍
love you courtney
How sweet. Thank you Courtney!
Fantastic...i love U ☆☆☆
Please, some help! What does she say after "your hands grib..." At the end of the song.
your hands grip your t-shirt
@@OpheliaDarkling❤
Aww
All that surgery but her beautiful eyes still remain
she feels kurts presence
Cause she's got some things on her chest
ohhhhhhhhhhhhh
She should of done a rock cover......
No I disagree were so used to seeing an angry punk performance out of her that it's really refreshing to see a more vulnerable side to her
Should have, not should of...
It’s called being real
Not the best but I love her
