MY RESIDENCY MATCH RESULT 🇰🇷🇺🇸 | All the New York GPR programs I interviewed at

- Hi everyone! I'm sharing what I learned about the General Practice Residency (GPR) programs I interviewed in New York before finding out my match result on Phase 2 Dental Match Day: NYU Langone Brooklyn, St. Barnabas, Jacobi, Montefiore, Bellevue, & Columbia. There is no detailed information available for 4th year dental students to know before spending lots of money on the ADEA PASS application and applying to GPR and AEGD programs across the country. I used some information that was outdated and/or pure anecdotes on Student Doctor Network (SDN) before applying to some of these general dentistry residency programs. While I cannot speak on the programs I did not interview, I wanted to share some objective facts about the GPR programs I did get to interview at. I will also share my thought process and things to consider for ranking your residency programs.
I filmed all the initial parts of my videos only to find out that I did NOT match, and immediately got ready for post-match starting at noon on the same day. After a whirlwind of emotions, I am happy to announce that I post-matched to a program of my dreams (that I did not know well before post-matching!).

안녕하세요! 전 미국 치과 레지던시를 지원하고 모든 결과가 나오는 매치데이에 제가 여태 인터뷰를 했던 프로그램들을 돌아보며 결과가 어땠는지 녹화를 했는데요, 예상외의 결과가 나와서 너무 깜짝 놀랐어요. 전 미국 뉴욕에 GPR 이라는 일반치과 레지던시에 지원했는데요, 여섯개의 인터뷰를 보고 매치결과를 기다렸죠. 현재 미국엔 치대 레지던시에 관한 정보가 많이 없어서 Student Doctor Network 이라는 포럼에서 익명의 글쓴이들이 적은 후기들로만 통해 정보를 추려서 지원했는데요, 이번기회에 적어도 제가 인터뷰 한 곳들은 좀 더 구체적으로 설명드리고 싶었어요. 프로그램 마다 장단점이 있고, 저는 어떻게 레지던시를 추렸는지도 알려드리고 싶구요. 결과가 너무 예상치 않았지만 이또한 기도의 응답이라고 믿고, 주변 응원과 함께 전 최선을 다했고 하나님께서 열어주신 명백한 문이라고 확신합니다. 미국 치대생 모두 다 일반치과 레지던시 지원을 하진 않지만, 뉴욕은 1년의 레지던시나 몇년 다른 주에서 치과의사로 일하지 않으면 뉴욕에서 근무 할 수 없기에, 뉴욕에 가고픈 저는 레지던시를 결심했는데요. 또한 코로나 덕분에 좀더 체계적으로 1년 더 배우고 직장을 구하고 싶어서 전 레지던시를 지원하게 됬어요. 어눌한 한국어자막이지만 양해 부탁드리구요, 질문있으시면 댓글에 적어주세요! 미국 치과 래지던트 지원을 이렇게 속시원하게 알려드리는 유튜브 중에 제가 최초인거에 감사하면서 영상이 도움이 됬음 좋겠어요!

안녕하세요!! According to Google it says the average tax rate for resident salary (~$60k) is 23.4% and the marginal tax rate is 36.1%. But keep in mind if you took out loans for dental school the same year as you start residency, tax rate most likely willy change because you have educational debt and you've technically only worked for half of the year as a 'resident' - so seems like my coresidents are paying a lot less for this year than they have saved up for it. Hope that answered the question!
