Hi bmarsh467, thank you for your message! No, it is not recommended to use an older crankset with a 12-speed chain as this will affect its optimal performance. You may want to find out more info on product compatibility here: productinfo.shimano.com/#/com?cid=C-453&acid=C-455
Hi bmarsh467, the length of the cable depends on your bike size. For this bike build, we used a longer cable (Rear: 1200mm & Front: 900mm) It is ok to use a longer cable rather than one that is too short. :)

Dear Shimano, I have owned EVERY iteration of Dura Ace from 7 speed thru 11 speed. I will NEVER buy another Shimano part. You can take your disc brake only, electronic shifting only crap and stick it.
Give this poor guy a mic, Jesus Christ.
what frame set is this?
Just checking. Assuming you can use older cranksets previously for 11speed chain with a 12 speed chain, correct?

Joe Malone Cycling made an experiment with this configuration.
11 sp chainring in a 12 sp drivetrain.
No loss in precision.
If there's no more junction box, what length cables are being used from the derailleurs to the battery?

What bike prototype is that??
It should be a flagship bike from other top bike brand, as shimano does not produce frames. They just label their logo on it.
