Something a bit ironic: After the trial and guilty verdict, and despite the DNA that tied Terry Driver to the crimes, Driver's mother and brother INSISTED that Terry was innocent. Strange that a mother who turned her son in, upon recognizing his voice, would suddenly then proclaim his innocence after iron-clad DNA tied him to the crimes.

Good of the mom to turn her son in. The torment and turmoil that she must of felt, no mother should ever have to feel with their children/child. However, I would do the same thing out of love for my child, knowing that they needed help and stopping another senseless death of another mother's child.

Infact we were sent home early from school and were told by the police to stay inside with all windows and doors locked while police K9 units and helicopters searched my neighborhood. We lived in an area with a forest behind and someone reported seeing the attacker's van near the area. I was so scared it was an awful time for the families of the victims and the entire community. @@janettecoleman2037 Actually some parents have tried to help cover up their children's crimes. One such case involved a child rapist in Lake County, Florida who enlisted his mother and father to hire a hitman to kill his wife, daughters and stepdaughter (and even the family dog), and to leave an ominous message for his victim; 'I told you I would get you if you ever told on me'. The motive was to prevent the children and mother from testifying against him. The parents hired a hitman but the hitman was an undercover cop. Mother died in prison after going away for soliciting for murder for hire; father is still in jail on that charge.

TL;DR It's risky. It can be a man with a gun waiting for someone to come or multiple men. You could also become a victim. I get why people would be scared to check it out. It's the bystander effect, especially of something so horrifying and something that's mysterious/you have no idea what it is you're about to get yourself into if you're to go help. Did they not phone though? That I don't get if they didn't. Anyone could do that smh.
I mean, sort of makes sense. People are scared. They go check it out, they too can be murdered 🤷‍♂️ They don't know if it's multiple people, and with guns. If so, they'd have no chance of helping. You just never know. Of course, it is very possible if he just heard someone coming, not even knowing if it's say just another 16 year old girl, he would run away but she could also be another victim. If it's two men and he knows it by multiple men yelling like what's going on or something, he's obviously running, probably even if it's just one. Say I'm with my buddies, like 4 of us, and I hear screaming, I'd still be scared to check it out since it could be any number of men who are also larger than us and maybe even with guns. I know the chances are low though as usually it is a case like this, one or maybe 2 guys who could've easily of been stopped. If it's me and 3 other guys, I'm probably definitely checking it out. I say that online but irl, it could be a different story. Maybe we don't for all I know but I definitely feel I would. The chances are lower the less people I have with me. If it's just me, idk, I don't think I'm checking it out. If me and multiple random strangers hear it, I would ask them to come with me. I don't think I'd go alone but who knows 😳

Driver's dad was a policeman, and then his son Terry lead a double life, he was pathologically full of pent up rage, he hated the police, he repeatedly committed violent rage-crimes and then taunted the police and admitted to having hurt even more innocent victims. Finally, his own mother reported him.
It does paint quite a clear picture of what kind of a household Terry Driver grew up in and what kind of a father and husband Mr. Driver Sr. was, doesn't it? Why was Terry so obssessed with mocking the police? Why such hatred from a policeman's son? One doesn't find police officers raising murdering serial offenders with such loathing for the police very often, nor do policemen's wives often report their sons as killers. Terry Driver was taunting his own father and those poor girls were his revenge for something.

We will be bombarded with questions like what time are we home.. Who are we with... and he will check with us from time to time..And if it's late he would ask us to sleep over at a friends house to be safe as long as we give him the name and exact address. And whenever we show disagreement and think that he is so strict, he would always say that he can't refrain us from enjoying life but he can't sleep well knowing his childrens are out.
