It’s not a stretch to say that, of the myriad styles of watches on the market, dive watches are probably the most popular. In fact, having a dive watch is essentially a must in a modern catalog. And while the origins of many things in the watch world can be argued, the origins of the dive watch begin in one place - the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms.
Before the Submariner, before the word Seamaster meant dive watch, Blancpain developed the formula for a dive watch we all know and love (and that ISO has codified).
In the intervening decades, Blancpain hasn’t sat still either. Since their revival of the Fifty Fathoms line, Blancpain has allowed the watch to expand in two different directions. The Bathyscaphe line has remained aesthetically tied to the model’s historic origins, while the main line Fifty Fathoms expresses a more contemporary and technical foundation.
Each of these remains a thoroughly modern option for a high-end, immensely capable dive watch, and presents a tremendous option for anyone looking for a dive watch that will stand the test of time.

One of the best assemblages ever - all killer, no filler! Blancpain, Patek, Breguet, Gronefeld for me...
I wish Blancpain will do the FF (identical to the FF 45mm) but 42 or even better 40mm
That Groēfeld is amazing
I've got the Ceramic Bathyscaphe...I think I now also need a 5015!!
I own a Submariner, but Fifty Fathoms are on another level and you can actually buy them from an AD with no waiting lists.
That Zenith is an incredible timepiece!
Oh yes I totally agreeded. What a beauty!
That Gronefeld……wowzers!
The Grönefeld is stunning, simple and sofisticated with that beautiful flow of movement bridges around the circumference. Wow.
The principia looks great on Tim, a lovely watch
If Blancpain can shrink Fifty Fathoms to 42mm and Bathyscaphe to 40mm, these watches will sell like crazy.
They can and they have but always in limited editions which immediately sell out. I wonder if they weren't under the Swatch Group's banner would they make what the market seems to truly want.
@@davidr2802 Yes I meant if they can make these sizes on regular production instead of limited editions.
@@davidr2802 because its a "dive instrument" first, then a watch. And your right the limited versions are for their deskdiving donators. 😉. If you like the "watch" their motto is get a Bathyscape.
Sadly, the Blancpains never fit on my wrist. They always appear a little dull and chunky. And while the Bathyscape is much more subtle, the strap and lugs looks oddly broad in my taste. I am really trying to love these, but they never do the trick despite their great history
£15 hs for the Hoodinkee 40ml mil version , without the engraving too😂 Not only that why put it on a bracelet?
Stan Wilson doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
@@stanwilson7040lol someone never held a Blancpain
It’s better finished than your Pagani Design Submariner rip-off Stan
@@stanwilson7040You really have no idea what you are talking about.
Gorgeous
Steel is real! True that. I fine steel frame is also a work of art.
I dream of a medical condition where my wrist swells to 8 inches so finally i to can wear a 50 fathoms
Great show
At times i will wonder why Blancpain don't produce FF in a smaller case size?
I know, right? I mean, they made an Air Command in 36mm, which is arguably a much more difficult feat.
please use a pointer rather your fingers to demonstrate fine details of a timepiece.
“There are some marks, this is a pre-owned watch” 😂
Why is that funny? Totally not going after you at all, I just like to understand jokes and I always miss them according to my wife
@@john-carlosynostroza the reason I make light of it is bc a lot of times ppl forget that these are pre-owned watches and there may always be a possibility of there being a scratch or a mark on the timepiece. So many ppl expect perfection in the realm of pre-owned.
@@weareveinumb718 right on. I see. The same goes for cars. How do you feel about polishing? Not on some exceptionally rare piece but on something like a Speedmaster or Submariner or something like that? Are you for it in general or one of the guys that likes to keep the patina rolling?
The Rolex platinum is my choice. Amazing grail watch!
"up market" with the name plastered on the side? I don't think so...
