If you're only vegan for health, then it makes sense you're out the second your health is not absolutely perfect
So then you want ppl to be unhealthy, get sick, and die for something as goofy as the vegan religion?

Oh girl. You’re simply too young. Your brain isn’t even done growing. At this rate you’ll be retarded by 30 :( you need animal products for brain growth! Forget the animals girl, you are BEYOND superior to them. Don’t listen to the vegans that hate you and other humans :) Humans > animals. ALWAYS.
On the theme of your channel helping people.
I originally went vegan back in January 2014 after watching Earthlings. And I've been vegan ever since.
But the original diet advice I took (for almost 2 years) was from freelee... as you can imagine it wasn't the best long term strategy 😅.
If it wasn't for channels like yours introducing me vegan nutrition and where it can be lacking/needs supplementing, I bet there would've been at least one instance where I would've had a health issue arise from eating freelees diet, and even thought I'm vegan for the animals there's a good chance (like for alot of people) that it'd make me question being vegan.
Yours is the only vegan channel I watch consistently and I love that there's always more to learn and you always bring up topics I might have otherwise never thought of.
You're doing a fabulous job and I accredit you, at least to some extent, for me being able to make a structured, healthy and sustainable vegan diet.
You're making a difference 💚
Yeah, the way you approach transitioning is the only reason I’m vegan. Every Vegan I’d met was “go cold turkey!! How could u not just cut it all out??” And as a huge meat and cheese lover that was just so daunting. But your approach of “every little bit counts” helped me try. And what do you know, I cut out like 98% of animal products right away anyway. The other little bit came from learning I had to read the ingredients for dumb things like MILK POWDER 😤🙄
Anyway, good video, thanks again for the great content!
I went vegan over night, but I used to be vegetarian and have some nutrition and kitchen education focused on various diets, and it was still hard to make that change. Vegeterian with eggs and dairy is really very different from vegan. Most people need time.
I agree that some people just gotta take it slow. I didn’t go meatless overnight I was pollotarian for a year then vegetarian and now eat mostly vegan. Hidden animal products is such a pain for me too.
Was easy for me. I find cheese disgusting. I don't get why people like it so much. Leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Only problem for me was finding a good milk alternative for coffee. Tried coconut, then soy, then almond. Almond milk in mochas is the best.
Yeah I found it really hard to stay vegan, I was mostly doing it for the environment and health reasons and in the end both social pressure and difficulty getting adequate nutrition made me go back to eating animal products. I never went back to cooking with meat but I did eat it when going out. Right now I'm following a mostly vegan diet but with some eggs and dairy eventually. I'm glad you acknowledge that it's hard for people to stay vegan long term, your channel actually helped me stay "mostly vegan" instead of going all in with the animal products when I "fell off the wagon". I'm slowly seeing more and more vegan products in my part of the world so hopefully I can get an adequate vegan diet without as much effort as I needed before. Thanks again!
No such thing as mostly vegan. It's a flexatarian. Clown
@@benson733 Thanks
I was just typing up something similar. I have some allergies and intolerances which make it difficult to eat in general, let alone plant based. But I'm working my way to as close to vegan as I can right now. A big plus for me was finding vegan Greek yogurt, something I need to make "bread" for myself.
Thanks for being such a positive influence!❤
I am glad I stuck to the end. That's a lovely message 😊
I was told by my hairdresser a few months ago that I have the shiniest hair of all her clients. There’s also a lot of it and it grows very quickly. Almost 10 years vegan 🤙
Yeesssss❤️
Please tell me you secrets 😃 I had shitty hair before I went vegan and have shitty hair after 😭
@@zi6803 haha! I don’t have many secrets or tips besides leaving it alone. I regret straightening my hair so much in the past ! I typically wash my hair once a week max. It also probably helps that I haven’t coloured my hair too much.
Yeah, some people do great on vegan and some do great on carnivore.
@@gavinistheawesomest honestly yeah, this is where I’m at. It appears both can be great for different people. There are so many factors though, like longer term effects, I just don’t know. I’ve heard many personal accounts of longterm veganism (after the first 3 - 5 years) being unhealthy, and also people like Dr David Sinclair say that high meat consumption (like the carnivore diet) is good in the short term but not for longevity which is why he has switched to more plant based. I just know that I feel strongly about avoiding animal products if I possibly can for ethical reasons, and that I still seem to be healthy and strong without them.
Uhm..minerals come from the earth.... Plants take the minerals from the earth. So eat plants? 🤷
Honestly you have really helped encourage me to keep trying despite multiple health issues that complicate what I can eat. It makes me feel like the amount that I'm able to do isn't totally worthless which has helped me keep at it for years now.
It cracked me up that she put her acupuncturist and doctors on the same level for advice 😂 Loved this, thanks for sharing! ✨☀️🧡🔆
If you understand TCM theory and human physiology, you see they actually are very accurate. Just a different approach (root cause vs. symptom management), dufferent language/paradigm compared to traditional western medicine framework.
Thank you for your videos. I'll admit that I've had some relapses but you're channel is much more encouraging to people that may be struggling with keeping a vegan or plant based lifestyle. Honestly I've avoided the vegan subreddit and other channels, because some people can be straight up mean.

I admitted that I was away from youtube for a while but your channel is the only one I first come back to watch. (still many episodes left) I also wish every time that you got more followers :)
I went vegetarian 28 years ago and mostly place based 15 years ago, then stuff years ago vegan. I get compliments about my hair all the time. Meanwhile my omnivor sister struggles with hair loss
I love the new set!!
I appreciate your videos and channel. ❤️
I appreciate that you acknowledge that being largely plant based makes a difference for the animals, even if that isn't ones main incentive for eating this way. There is a spectrum and there is nuance. Eating a very small amount of animal products is not the same as being carnivore.
It is so helpful to remind us that it is not all or nothing. As some of us struggle with IBS, IBD, and other conditions, strict veganism is not always an option but we can all cut down a lot on animal products
I only find out about these folks when they start munching on death again..awesome video as always with a calm non-biased wonderful information vibe:) Did not know about the hair..always learning on the tube I am
The veganism reddit makes me so sad. People are SO discouraging of being plant-based because it's not good enough and immoral and basically the same thing as being omni. I never feel like a bad person when I watch your videos because I'm "only" 95% plant based. Thank you Swayze ❤
Edit: I know it's neither here nor there, but I will kinda clarify that I eat fully vegan 95% of the time but also follow vegan ethics with regard to the other things I buy/wear/etc. The term plant-based is nuanced so I thought I'd clarify :)
Oh yeah, absolutely. Those ppl are nuts lol. If you wanna feel bad about ANY lifestyle choice, go to Reddit- there are literally hundreds of ppl who will tell you're doing it wrong🥴🥴🥴
Obviously, its shitty that people get on others and make them feel bad. And obviously its hard to be vegan in a world that is not the most friendly to vegans and where abusing animals is the norm. But it is also valid to put out that doing an immoral thing 5% of the time is still immoral, right. Like if I was a serial killer "sometimes", I am still a serial killer. I am still murdering people, even if its only a bit, ya know. That's where people are coming from usually when they call out people for being plant based 95% of the time. Doesn't mean they should be abusive and cruel towards you or anyone, but the fundamental point is valid. Basically, I agree with the point, but not the method. May I ask, why you aren't plant based 100% of the time? All good if you don't want to share.
Same here. It's frustrating when all-or-nothing vegans treat occasionally eating clams (which don't have brains) as morally equivalent to eating mammals and birds three times a day.
Harm reduction matters 💯
I am just happy you are 95%...it is a win in my view. I think those people don't understand there is alot of grey areas in this world. Also I have yet to meet a prefect human so those folks need to chill and play nice
This reminds me so much of Tobias Leenaert's book "How to create a vegan world". Have you ever read it? I think you would like it! He's all about the pragmatic approach - that's actually the subtitle of his book! Would love to hear you talk about his book on your channel.
Keep up the good work, Swayze. Thanks to your videos, I've been vegan now for 6 years. To be honest, I call myself an 'imperfect vegan', as I do sometimes eat something that has 1% milk powder or a little bit of butter in it. (mostly in social occasions. I think it's important to show people that I can still be vegan, that's not all-or-nothing.) I'd rather be imperfect and eat vegan meals, 99% of the time, then trying to be perfect. F*ck perfectionism - perfectionism is way too toxic. ;-)
I like your new setup very much, and the position of the weird stuffed animal is perfect! :D But I keep wondering what types of books are on your bookshelf, maybe you can show us one day! :)
Weird stuffed animal? He's from Labyrinth!
Well, your channel has helped me immensely.
Thinking in terms of outcomes and consequences has allowed me to reduce my animal product consumption, whereas before, I felt like I had to go in the "right order" : first you stop red meat, then poultry, then fish, then dairy and eggs. It sounds stupid just to type this, but outcomes thinking allowed me to eliminate (for example) dairy milk just because it's easy and I don't miss it.
Now I focus on whatever seems like low-hanging fruit in my personal diet, and eliminate whatever I think I won't miss first, instead of trying to so things in a preset order. Or I'll focus on making a meal vegan, or saving animal products for family dinner or a restaurant and being vegan at home when I'm the one cooking. Etc.
So thanks.
Have you watched Plant Chompers? I love his videos too. Extremely scientific and well produced. His thing is whole food plant based for health and the environment primarily. I love how there are so many reasons which encourage different people to embark on a vegan/plant based diet.
I think some people aren't using enough vegan "junk food"...don't skip out on Morningstar sausages and violife cheese and whatnot if you have a craving!
This is why veganism it mostly about ethics. Animals are friends, not food ❤️🐾
Tell that to a shark, a poisonous snake, or a polar bear. Animals are not friends. They are the most nutrients food on earth. You vegans need to grow up, because tons of animals and insects are intentionally killed for your unhealthy and bland vegan food
Truth, idk if I lose my hair I'm not eating a dead animal
@@reneduffy3922every diet has pros and cons, vegan, vegetarian, carnivore, raw, keto. And frankly this is the first time I hear someone losing hair because of no eating animals. Come on, if one's deficient in nutrients just take a blood test and fix it with supplements or arranging the diet differently. Known fact that animal products cause far worse than hair loss. Maybe she just needs to change her shampoo 😂😂😂
@@reneduffy3922 lol. So you would go bald for the animals? meanwhile chickens, pigs, turkey, fish, rodent, insect, and other animals also eat meat? 🤣🤣 you are proof that veganism is a cult for psychologically unstable ppl.
Why would someone even think of eating a life is ok... it is not...
I’m not vegan but I love watching your videos. Thanks for being honest and upfront. I struggle with the politics of food and your channel gives me hope
You are amazing. All your videos are incredibly smart and thoughtful, and I have developed a trust in your video content. I also love your quirky sense of humor! I agree that ethical vegans are more likely to stay the course. The animals are what keep me committed to staying vegan. I can never unsee the horrible treatment of animals I have seen and could never be part of animal abuse and suffering, honestly even if my health was at risk (which I know it is not).
Love this background!
great video thx
"I'm not crying about it" haha
I still remember watching Nikocado Avocado as one of the first vegan UA-camrs & I specifically remember in one his videos he was yelling "How dare you!!!!" about his neighbors in Columbia who had chickens. It wasn't long after that when he said he was gonna eat meat again to be healthy. 🤣🤣🤣
Please help so much conflicting info on this topic. Does dairy/certain products significantly increase inflammation?

i used to watch a lot of her videos and i was really surprised when i saw her incorporating animal products, didn't realize she wasnt vegan
Being vegan and pregnant has been very easy for me. It takes some extra prep/thinking ahead, but it is 100% manageable.
Appreciate you. Great content. Reassuring that I don’t need to change my diet TOO much (I’m 100% VEGAN for the animals & health) to help with TTC. Xo
I thought she was never vegan, I remember her saying in a video about 5 years ago that she ate eggs and fish, but she made vegan meals for UA-cam because that's what everyone asked.
Yay worm dude in the shelf!
Off topic. What are the meanings behind the tee slogans, please?
I know this isn’t what the hair issue is but is are there foods and or supplements for my hair. I am losing hair. I have been 💯 for 6 years. Thank you
Telling us we may not be vegan for long is kind of rude & discouraging. Have you done to poll how long we have been vegan or ask How likely we are to still be vegan in a year? I think you'll find that most people here have been vegan for years & have no expectation to stop. I'm not arguing with the stats of people who try being vegan and quit I'm just saying that your audience I think defies those stats so there's no need to be as dismal in that regard.
Good point.
good vid
Can you give examples of the controversial topics? I can’t tell if I would be interested but I am curious to know 👀
She just made a patreon only video about the net effect of ahem some recent social justice movements unrelated to animal rights.
Thank you for sharing! Just a little teaser can make my brain activate 👀
Going vegan has been quite a journey for me. There has never been a doubt in my mind that veganism is the right dietary choice for my personal health as well as the diet that aligns with my principals. I started my vegan journey in 2015 but over the years I called myself "mostly plant based" because it was hard to keep up with the diet for different reasons at different times. I can look back on those times and point out ways I could have stayed a "true vegan" in hindsight, but I choose not to be so harsh on my younger self. It can be a hard transition but you should be sure of your reasons.
👏🏻
I feel like I have the best excuse and attitude in order to stay vegan long term. Note, I’ve had health issues as a vegan and persistent acne that did not get better through a vegan diet that could’ve knocked me off turning to other diets and options. I’ve been plantbased/meat-free for soon 10 yrs, would call myself vegan for 8 of them. My reason? I don’t like or want to handle cooking with meat. It’s just not an option to “go back” no matter if my life depended on it. I hate the smell of fish and eggs. I’ve never liked the taste of dairy. And I know the taste in meat is all about seasoning which I can replicate. I also follow what’s practical. If I’m traveling and vegan options on a restaurant is sparse. I will go with the vegetarian offer on the menu. 💁🏻♀️ I also allow myself one green card every birthday as vegan cakes and desserts are quite limiting where I live. After 10 yrs you just wish to buy something professionally made instead of baking it yourself you know. 🤷🏻♀️ Also, I see myself doing more effort than most that I do think I deserve a break. And if someone doesn’t find me vegan enough than I feel bad for the unnecessary pressure that person puts on themselves and have to project onto everyone else.
I also am more slack so I can sympathize and not get frustrated with everyone for not doing more.
Honestly everyone I know who is balding or Loosing hair eats tons of meat and dairy. My hair is thick and long and I get compliments on it all the time ❤
I'm not vegan, but yours and other vegan channels have helped me reduce a ton of my animal product consumption. And lately, it's been even less because jfc have you seen the prices out there? 5 bucks for a bucket of beans and rice or a lb of sad chicken breast - not a hard choice.
I believe buying vegan products occasionally if you're not vegan could be better for veganism overall, than a 100% vegan that only buys fruits and vegetables.
Look at the dairy/alternatives market, that wasn't just from vegans, it was from a lot of non-vegans that just picked a different option from the shelves.
🖤
More power to Alyssa. She can eat whatever she wants. It's her body. Her choice.
And what about the animal's choice?
If you look at Joey carbstrong he has lost nearly all his hair
Another one bites the dust. Every week I will have to say that ?
Is there a difference between hair and hair tissue testing?
Like testing hair strand vs the hair follicle cell?
Hair follicles can’t be pulled out they’re kinda like pockets that hold your hair. Hair follicle test is a misnomer.
Commenting for the algorithm 🤍
If one part of your body is lacking so is the rest.
...if you ingest collagen supplements, i assume you dont do much research into nutrition at all.
She was plant based? She has a lot of recipes with animal products.
Totally awkward question, but I genuinely could use the advice: I have similarly-sized breasts as you, and I cannot seem to find a bra that offers the level of support you have and also doesn't dig into my shoulders. You seem to have a collection of bras that really do what I want MY bras to do. Do you have any brand suggestions? I'm willing to pay a lot for a great bra. Hope this didn't make you uncomfortable, and I apologize if it did!
Lol no worries! It's the Freya Deco Plunge bra. I've worn it for years! Only plunge bra I've found that's still supportive.
Would highly recommend getting a bra fitting done at a store! Also do check Sierra Schultzzie's latest video, she gets a professional bra fitting done with her friends and it has some great tips to find the perfect fit. 💙
If your size fits (band being horizontal and not riding up your back as well es the gore of the bra laying against you chest but you do not have to pull the straps very short in order to not have a gap (that happens when the cups are to large and hence the straps hurt more).
Next check where the straps are on your shoulder. I have found that putting them further out onto the shoulder so they do not dig into the muscle there is a lot more cormfortable. You might have to adjust the length of the straps for them to stay in that position. Mine often have a tendency to either fall off my shoulder or back onto the muscle.

I just don't understand how anyone struggles to get all their nutrients from a plant based diet. I don't 'count' anything and yet, I'm not anaemic, not losing hair, my skin is good, my nails grow really well.......There is so much information available on how to eat a really healthy plant based diet, if you're that way inclined.
I believe some people decide they want to go back to a carnist diet and will take any excuse, however weak it is.
Hair analysis has the following uses: drug testing for certain drugs taken within 3 months of the drug test, heavy metals like mercury and arsenic, dna/genetic testing eg testing for paternity, certain genetic conditions, dna evidence at a crime scene etc. That's it.
I found it’s easier being vegetarian with environment as motivator. I have a sensitive diet so going vegan isn’t a option. I find it hard enough to have a variety of foods as it is. Not that on an individual basis we can do much. Also, I never liked beef for the same reason’s you do. 😂
My first pregnancy I took doctors’ advice to eat animal products, and promptly got kidney stones. My 2nd pregnancy, I stayed vegan.
I definitely didn’t give in to pressure. Just realized it felt like shit on a vegan diet
Hair analysis is a thing for vit and minerals and is a useful tool but should not be the only thing you use.
To eat somebody, after 5 years of not doing it, it's extremely gross
Different strokes for different folks, I can see how some women would thrive off of a plant based diet and others wouldn’t. No judgement or condemnation here 🙋🏼♀️
Lol
Yup, natural health, holistic anything, naturopaths are all blights.
It’s totally easy to be healthy and have a vegan diet. Not sure why people give up so easily when it’s important for animals and the planet to not eat meat
So they both had miscarried while vegans/mostly plant based and then later had successful pregnancies while eating much more animal products?
You just said being vegan for health is stupid, can you point me to any video you make on this or can you elaborate more on this? You may have touched on this but it isn’t ringing a bell. I believe there are health benefits to a plant based diet.
Andy Weil, the Harvard MD who worked at NIMH and founded a center at the University of Arizona medical school, is your idea of the ultimate crank? I mean, you can think he’s wrong, but he’s hardly the biggest crank out there. Quite the contrary, in fact. Get some better standards.

She doesn't do many of them actually. Cosmicskeptic is kind of a different case. He understands the logic and seems very bright, instead of just a healthy lifestyle person.
I feel like she is using them as a tool to point out some of the NONSENSE floating around the internet these days and refute them. For example I hadn’t heard that people are paying for useless hair analysis and using that to conclude they need to eat animals. If they were just “but you can eat vegan “ over and over again that would be annoying. But yeah it kind of bums me out to see how many people with big audiences are posting about eating tons of animals now. 😢
Some of us are too tired of all fake vegans doing 'no longer vegan' videos, shitting on veganism and blaming veganism for their made up health problems or masking their eating disorders... Veganism is not to blame if you live on 1200 calories and day, eat only raw gluten free foods and avoid fats... Which most of them do..

We aren't ruminants....we aren't cows.....and yes I LOOOOVE AND EAT FRUITS AND VEG LOKE CRAZY . HOWEVER ID NEVER GO AS FAR AS TO SAY WE NEED NOTHING ELSE. !. Lolllll idkkk . Big huge mystery. sure one could argue that we only need it while we are young but honestly that answer doesn't fully stick as things don't just change that quickly ...in a matter of months oh yeah your physiology is totally different yeehaw. Also I wish people would realize all the damage all these random plants ingredients also cause
......allllll the EXTREME MONOCULTURE, ORGANIC OR NOT. all the worldwide shipping.... Hair is something that's not "just hair" to some people. It's a full on identity to a lot of people because of standards placed and other factors. I'd considered it a part of body dysmorphia. I mention this because your title is a little belittling.
Nothing was mentioned about appearance. The fact is hair tests are not accurate enough to determine mineral contents in the body.
And it is just hair.
Her point wasn't that it is "just hair" it is that hair testing (for minerals, other substances, etc.) is bunk and pseudoscience. Nowhere in the video did she comment on the importance of hair to simply quinoa.
youre speaking from experience right
i mention this because it sounds like you took the title personally
i pray vegans start awakening and realise how ridiculous their diet ( malnutrition) is .
How can you be 95% vegan? Like 95% against animal exploitation and cruelty. But 5% for it. Whatever.
I am eating plant based for health; dont see why you qualify it as stupid. The arrogant tone used is also not very appealing. Lets all embrace Whole Foods Plant-based; and leave judgement out as much s possible...
Maybe it's her business how she eats, and not yours to slag it?
I watched the whole video and didn’t hear any slagging.
If you watched the video without prejudice, there's clearly no 'slagging' going on. But here's the thing. When UA-camrs such as SQ off spread food and nutrition information, it is the right (Even the duty) of others to test the veracity of said information. This applies even more for those making some measure of income from their content. I doubt you take issue with the squashing of misinformation, so if you're suggesting UV has herself made some mistakes, perhaps you could share how/why.
Yh every one of these videos is ”im not judging these ex vegans, but…” and then goes on to be super judgy. Her mentioning that SQ wasnt vegan for the animals but her own health, as if thats not valid.

It's characteristic of certain abusive types to portray themselves as victims.
Like MAGA portray themselves as victims of the "woke".

@@ema2031 Just because you don't understand why there's a difference in reasons for eating a vegan diet does not mean that there aren't valid reasons for there being a distinction. Nor does it mean that the mentioning of said difference is super-judgy. It's nothing more than a state-of-facts, and in this case for clarity...sans judgment. That's not to say that many vegans wouldn't use it as a point of judgment. But it's almost ridiculous to level this criticism at UV, who is (almost to the hatred of many other vegans) just not judgmental when it comes to situations like this.
So...other than Swayze's use of facts, can you point to anywhere in this video where she's been harsh, overly-judgmental or even slightly nasty to SQ?
It's not complaining to tell us what goes into making these videos. Honestly, I'd really love it if you could give us a rundown some day where you make a video like your day in the life eating like videos except it's a day in the life for all the work that goes into these videos.
I would love to make a youtube channel doing deep dives but all the youtubers i've seen act like it's so easy and it's super disconcerting and makes me feel like I'm not good enough to make videos and no one will watch them and I'm going too slow because of this very culty 'we're better than you. it's not hard for us. why are you struggling. just put out more content. do it faster forehead.' factory-method-mindset of youtubers. You being honest and open and showing what goes into it could be really inspiring and helpful to show a real perspective of how long it actually takes and the struggles that occur through it.
Yay! Alyssa gave the slave diet the middle finger. Good for her & the baby which she's carrying.🤗👍

Completely unlike animals of course.

Oh so you're a colonist
Well, this is a pleasant surprise. I was a subscriber of Simply Quinoa for years. And when I saw her "Why I'm no longer..." video, I immediately thought her questionable reasoning would be a perfect topic for Unnatural Vegan to counter.
