How I felt seen and understood in “Ice Cream Man” over the sexual abuse and rape I experienced when I was just a boy really hits home right now, and made that song so powerful for me. I’m in a much better place now (and have basically had one of the biggest glow ups I’ve ever experienced - if I do say so myself), so it doesn’t upset me as much as it used to, but it still sits there in the back of my mind. Great video as usual, Troye.
i really hope you are doing fine now. Please take care of yourself...im so late for this album but it is just so good and i was just listening to ice cream man and now your comment made me emotional again.
As someone who fell in love with her voice back when she was a dance pop feature girlie, I’m SO HAPPY ppl are giving her the recognition she deserves!! 🥰

her songs are SOOO good and they came out at the perfect time - it's like an era being revived; it's fresh yet nostalgic, production with the same theather-esque vibe, that new york blues and rnb style, etc. etc. etc. 👏👏👏
I had never listened to anything she'd done before except for her featuring on "You Don't Know Me", but I was intrigued by her story. Now I literally cannot stop listening to this album, it's so special, and it's truly a declaration of profound love for music but also for her public. I have a feeling she is going to be huge, much more than she would ever have been, had she stayed with that label. I can't wait to see what she does next!
You said it! Like, truly I agree with everything you said with a profound amount of sincere gratitude for the artist, the truth sayer, the rebel, the angel, the voice, the queen, the woman that guides my soul into a euphoric place with just a whisper.. Raye. 🙌🏼
This album combines so many of the styles of music I love so beautifully & you can tell she writes all her own songs. So happy she's finally getting her flowers, especially as an indie artist!
i'm literally SO proud to be from the UK, truly the best vocalists and musicians in the world i fkn love that for us if i'm honest it makes me so happy 😍
I started watching his reactions to High School Music on tiktok and came here FOR MUSIC! As a music lover I AM SO GLAD HE HYPES THE ALBUMS JUST LIKE I DO, is like I have someone to fangirl with
It's so sad that the industry kept her locked away for so long, she has so much skill across the board. I can't wait to see what opportunities open up for her. She has shown many many skills in this one album. 🙌🙌 Definitely my top album of the year.
It makes you wonder how many other absolutley stunning artists are hiding out there! I heard its because they don't want big competition with their big artists, so they just sign people to not let them sing.
The range of feelings and experiences that she covers in this album leaves me speechless, especially body dysmorphia and ice cream, Raye did not hold back on covering hard topics.
See this is why I love this channel so much, I click on every video even if I don't know the artist because of the commentary. And on occasion, like this time, I get surprised and introduced to a new artist and album that I really like now.
I just love how cohesive and flowy this album is it’s also so balanced as well, truly a masterpiece. Also you always bring it with these reactions and I love it, really makes me feel validated in how into these songs and albums I get.

this album is so fucking special and incredible and deserves all the recognition. I totally agree with you when you say her love for music is so visceral in each track. It just feels so authentic and intentional and I respect her so much for that. I’d say it was definitely worth the wait because she was able to release this music on her own terms and share messages that were important to her without a label trying to manipulate it into something purely profitable. This album is pure art!
Black Mascara is the best song off the album! The stutter pattern with that bass and the build up with the minimal singing and the rap verses! Such a banger! So addictive! Urrrghhh! Eargasmic!

This album is absolutely INSANE... RAYE is an ARTIIIIISTT.... Like, how many genres she can pull of? That's crazy. Tell me another artist who can pull of rapping/hip hop, soul, disco, funk, latin music, pop, jazz.... And the melody changes, the switch ups, format shifting vocals, great beats, the intricate production, everything that's added also adds to the song's message and isn't just added because... and the messages, the lyrics.... I'm nerding out. She reminds me of Amy Winehouse, Twenty One Pilots (especially with the melody switches and rapping as a flow of thought that she needs to let out), Adele and so many more and she is STILL her own fucking artist despite this being her debut.
Been a fan since Love Me Again, I think it ended up on my Spotify, because I was studying in the UK. Call On Me is actually probably my most played song by her. I started following her when she split with ther label. I then found out she planned a tiny tour which started in my home country, The Netherlands. She chose the tiniest venue and made it even smaller by placing chairs on the floor. Together with her piano she created a scene she wanted us to experience with that album intro: like we were at the Jazz club. At first I was sad she didn't play her danceable hits as they were, but at the end I was all in for her blues and jazz vibes. She was so so happy to do a random tour after the break, it was adorable to watch. She then played Escapism on her phone, two days or sth before it came out and I was so so happy for her when it became a hit. I bought a signed vinyl of her debut album and it's so amazing. I'm for sure super invested in what she's gonna put out.
