Jacob Tompke No. That's what happens when a tornado hears a Chicago siren. Here the tornado thinks. "Hm, modern place with a very audiable siren. I'll leave as everybody's already long gone. Damn those modern sirens!"
Before Whelens Were Installed In McKinney, McKinney Previously Installed Their Siren System Since May Of 1959. I’m Not Sure What Siren They Installed In 1959, But It Is Located Next To The City Hall, Which Is Their Original Fire Department. If You See That Wichita, Kansas Newsreel From 1959, That’s What The Fire Dept And Police Dept Act The Same Way As McKinney.
The siren tone consists of two tones separated by something between 5 and 10 Hz, which creates a beat frequency corresponding to the difference. This is done by most of the german electronic sirens, and it is thought to increase how noticeable the siren tone is over background noise. But the problem is the announcer still thinks that it is a good idea to leave long awkward pauses between words, which actually makes the brain think harder to piece together phrases because the natural timing of speech is lost.
That natural pause (from what I once read) is to reduce the possibility of sirens crosstalking and making the message become garbled because the delay in distribution of the message could mean some other mast is still speaking a word, along with accounting for the possibility of echoes making it difficult to hear otherwise. It's a bit like how people making live train station announcements are strongly advised to have someone make a good recording in the station building and listen to it, to see if there are things they could change to improve the message sent, and make it less difficult to understand.
True story everybody, so me and my friend were actually driving around McKinney late at night when it started to hail really bad, we didn’t think much of it so we pulled off into taco bueno’s parking lot. So we sit in the car and listen to the hail hit the car and the restaurant was closed inside. We didn’t think much of anything really until we heard this siren go off and it freaked us the hell out. So we ran inside the closed restaurant and got some free food and listened to that siren go off for like 3 minuets 😂
Was chilling at mckennie today and almost shit my pants when I heard the sirens. I can’t trust anything in 2021 so I literally checked the sky for airplanes 💀
That's a best possible protection tone. This 2910 that just been recording with. The best possible protection tone is in 465 Hz. And you hear another 2910 you hear it 560 Hz all the best possible protection tones.
It looks exactly like the ones we got here in Denmark.. and it sounds like ours, just in a little different way but pretty much the same.. except that we don't have these "this was only a test!" after the tone. Type 'Danish air raid siren' and hear how similar they sound and how similar they look.. ;)
And many other European countries. It's not particularly Danish. Denmark has just chosen to use the "Indoor Protection" and "All Clear" signals as their peace time emergency signals.
Me:Okay siren, how much have you had to drink. Siren: I *hic* don't know *hic*. Maybe 3 or 4 beers *hic*, and a bottle of *hic* tequila. Time to *hic* test. (Makes that drunk siren tone). Me: Okay you need to go home, your drunk.
One time there was a tornado in McKinney Texas when I was 4 or 3 the tornado was right down the street I remember that sound My dog Two 4 he didn't come in the closet so I went out and brought him in and that was a close call.
Glorbite We do use this sound, but only in war time. In Denmark we have four tones. "Indoor Protection" "Best Possible Protection" (This) "Gas Proof Protection" "All Clear"
i know where this siren is to.. i live in the neighborhood next to it..the storm 2 days ago was really scary we all went into the closet because it had gotten REALLY windy outside and it was pouring and the wndows sounded like they were going to break :|
It's neither Danish nor Dutch. It was developed for Europe by Whelen as the EU wanted a standardized set of tones, that were a lot more audible than the classic single tones.
Man, talk about creepy! Definitely can't mistake that for anything else.
This siren would make the tornado laugh and then it would leave.
lol 😅
Yeah!!!!😂
XD
that's priceless
