    I hired a magician 🎩 to entertain the children in the wedding at the wedding venue while they waited for us to arrived. Though it was meant for the children, the adults and children both loved being entertained while pictures were being finished. Twenty years later the children/adults still talked about how much fun it was. Guess you never know what will inspire people’s memories 😄

    Best tip was “invest in your venue”
    The prettier the venue is the less you have to “dress it up” and the more inclusive it is the less you will be stressed and enjoy your wedding experience more.
    I wish someone would have explained this to be before we booked ours :/

    As a wedding waitress I have to say invest in a photographer/videographer as it's a lifetime of memories there. Anyone can play music but not everyone can shoot an amazing photo/video.

    Paying for an expensive venue also pays back because the place already looks gorgeous and you don't need to spend a lot of money on decorations

    I completely agree with the small bridal party idea. In most European weddings it's not a thing either, everyone just picks their own clothes and shows up at the wedding, and you have one "witness" per groom/bride. Of course you can have anyone you want in pictures or in the room with you getting ready, but it's so much easier to let people be the adults they hopefully are and just pick who you'd like to hang out with when you feel like it.

    I'm getting married in April 2023 and I fully agree on prioritising where to spend the money. We're spending the most on the venue, the food and the party. We hired some pretty amazing DJs that put up a show with laser lights, smoke guns and confetti cannons. In the end, we thought the party is one of the things people remember the most and we wanted people to have the most fun!

    Decor is so expensive! We live in the UK and have been quoted £1200-£4000 for some simple chair covers and charger plates. But we found an amazing hire company - charger plates, chair sashes, lanterns and petals for ceremony, backdrop arch with neon light, sweet cart all for £750! I also have gone with an all-inclusive venue with wedding coordinator. I definitely don’t want any additional stress 😅 your wedding was stunning and an inspiration 🥰

    Feels about COVID! We had a COVID wedding too in mid December - We wouldn’t change it and we’re glad we got married when we did, but it definitely took away from some of the fun and enjoyment of planning our wedding and created a lot of stress (not to mention people not being able to attend like you mentioned). Feels girl ❤️

    If I didn't have 4 sisters and 2 sister like friends I would absolutely have a small bridal party/no bridal party at all. But I LOVE my girls and there's no way I'm not gonna have them as my bridesmaids

    Great idea with the table runners and the candles! Looks so nice. Yet, I found the room too plain. A bit of extra greenery and some decorations on those walls wouldn't need to cost over a 100 dollars and yet would have warmed things up big time. For all brides wanting it to hardly cost a thing: florists sell 'fillers' of green for bouquets, that are cheap and can go without water for a day. Just spread some out on the table. Or for those who have access to it: let someone cut off some of the branches of real ivy in the morning and bring them along. Also last the entire day. Doesn't cost a cent and those ivy bushes need to be trimmed some day anyway. Last option: buy a bulk of good fake ivy branches of 2 Meters long on the internet. It livens things up.

      I’m not Rach but have been married before but do food that YOU love!! But have at least two options. We had beef and chicken (and vegetarian as we had some vegetarians)
      Think about things that you can make made simply in big batches. Roast meat and veg are an easy option.
      I would suggest doing plated meals of like 50/50 of each meal or 40% one meat and 60% the other an just alternate dropping them as a buffet style can be risky as the first people off the rank get the best pick and the last just get what’s left.
      I’ve found when attending weddings, if your doing random drop then people will swap their plate with another wedding guest so that almost everyone is happy.

    • @RachelCatherine

      we knew we'd either have to do a summer or winter wedding (because that's when Liam has enough time off uni to have holidays for our honeymoon)! We didn't want a winter wedding, so summer was the way to go! And we didn't see the point in being engaged for a long time, because we already had the finances. So honestly there were a few reasons why we ended up going with our 10 month engagement, but those are a few! I honestly don't know how people plan weddings in less than 6 months, blows my mind! Hopefully that makes sense 😂

      I'm totally guessing just based on the fact that she had a custom, made to order gown, a day of coordinator, and a gelato stand, but I'd be surprised if they spent less than $50K USD. All that to say, you can totally have a wedding for less! I'm just finding that if you try to have a very fancy "pinterest" wedding, the cost can definitely add up!

    • @ingrida5087

    • @hillary96renteria82
      @hillary96renteria82 3 роки тому

      @@michaelarichmond438 it can definitely cost al lot less than 50k! She either made, borrowed, or thrifted a lot of her decor and used almost zero real flowers (fresh flowers add up so the fact that she used almost none makes me believe that she saved a lot). Also, because it was a covid wedding she had a smaller guest count so that means less money on catering. The biggest expense I saw in this view was her custom dress. You can definitely get watch she got for under 10k 😊

    • @RachelCatherine
      @RachelCatherine  3 роки тому +1

      Honestly we did consider that! And a lot went into our decision! We had already booked our venue and we couldn’t get a refund if we cancelled, our only option was to post pone. But they didn’t have any available Friday or Saturday dates for over a year after our original wedding day! So we would have had to push it back over a year if we didn’t want to lose our money. Also, covid kept changing in Australia, so there would be months where everything looked like it would be fine and all our guests could come, and then things would change overnight with border restrictions and lockdowns. And lastly, no one really knew when covid would end, so even if we’d post poned a year later, covid may still have been around and it still could’ve been cancelled! Honestly so much more I could say, but hopefully that gives you an idea 😂 (and hopefully it all makes sense!)

      She's from Australia :) Jan down further south is anything from 23 to 35+ depending on the year so I guess NSW where she is could he a bit hotter. There's also a risk of bushfires which would have altered the venue's view a lot, so she was lucky in that respect.
      I once went to a wedding where it was 47 degrees. Everyone left early as we had huge bushfires all around the state and had to get home to protect our homes. (My family couldn't, the highway closed. Thank God our house and precious dog were ok!)
