Hey mate, thanks for your super informative channel. Im doing ALT prep in a week, just wanted to ask you few questions if you dont mind me asking. 1- Im all alone, would I be able to use public transport (Train) to go back home after prep surgery alone? Im living around 5 hrs far from the hospital using train to go back home and have to walk up 20 stairs to reach my flat(I purchased crutch for walking around). 2- How many days it takes until I can take the drains out, thats my main concern as I had the most awful pain for top surgery taking out the drains… thanks a lot.
From what I know they wanna know who is picking you up and where they are taking you after , how you are getting home. You’re not supposed to walk for more than 15 Mins. You’ll need the crutch for the stair not for walking tho. Drains stay in for 2 weeks. Or until your leg is completely drained. Depend on your body. Drains in the leg wasn’t too bad. But you feel it. My aunt and cousin are nurses they did it for me. Idk about the pain from doing it yourself.
Thank you so much for your reply. Actually Im from UK and I think they are ok to let me go back home alone (as I really dont have anyone at the moment), but in case I could not be as mobile as I think, I might have to stay in a hotel nearby hospital until I feel ok to get back home. I hope they take my drains out earlier than 2 weeks because they are not my best friends and I can completely understand when you say you can feel them :/ Thanks for being so open and supportive mate.
