I found this channel in… 2017. Oh god. 5 years, like that. Life’s changed a lot in 5 years.
Mainly for the better, but I still have a long way to go at the same time.

And I would’ve thought you, the main antagonist, would dislike this theme as well since it only plays after you are defeated. But alas, this theme is so beautiful even Lavos enjoys it. I suppose Dalton, Yakra, and Ozzie just have terrible taste in music.

You know, I haven't played Chrono Trigger in years. I used to play it all the time. It's a fantastic game. However, since beating both Lavos and the Dream Devourer with only Crono in the 3DS remake I just haven't gone back. It's not because that version of the game is bad (it's probably the definitive version in my eyes), it's not that I don't think I'll ever play it again. It's just... when I think on that game, and think of everything it's been and meant to me over the years I feel satisfied. I feel satisfied in my accomplishments with it in a way I've seldom felt satisfied by anything in my life.
So, while one day in the future I might replay the game, I know in my heart that if I never got to pick up the game again, never got to see the characters I know so well or play the story I know by heart, if I never got to save the world one more time... it'd be okay.
Because some memories should just be allowed to live within us as we remember them. Maybe not how they actually were in reality, but in how they are in a pure kind of way that goes beyond objective truth, something maybe better.

Ok, so in the original song I thought it was so beautiful how the piece simply started off with the music-box-esque Chrono and Marley. Then it suddenly grows into a full piece. I wondered how you’d portray it here, and it was stunning. The drumroll, strings and sudden introduction of brass, woodwinds, into this grand and heartfelt work of art that, even with the knowledge of how this song worked, I didn’t see coming. It is truly beautiful.
Life makes me worry a lot, as of late. Hearing this tale from my teenage years, the halcyon days, makes me realize that beauty still exists, as it did. There is much hope in my soul, that this classic melody can be given new life in your talented hands. Thank you Malcolm!

The one image that comes to my mind is Marle just hugging Crono while he has just revived and is confused as to what's happened. And then the screen fades to black except for those two. Very clever way of implying the underlying emotions which would eventually result in a royal marriage.
This is the one song in the entire world that can make me cry almost half the times I listen to it... then again it's mostly nostalgia, makes me think of being a kid again, I used to just sit down and listen to this song.

I have to say, I love the orchestrations you done on this game's music. They really capture the essence of Nobuo Uematsu and Yasunori Mistuda's work; updating its sound whilst not deviating too far from the source material.

Malcolm, all of your Chrono Trigger score arrangements are breathtaking. And this piece is no exception. With that said, have you ever considered producing arrangements of the score to Xenogears? I see nothing but greatness for such an endeavor, as the theme from Xenogears known as "The Blue Traveler", springs to mind.
