Petain was considered the legitimate leader of France, if they had signed peace immediately after disarming France it would have become a neutral country and there would have been no need to defend itself from any invasion. I believe that French nationalists are the only nationalists who support a government that collaborated with those who wanted to take territories from them.

As for your second point, i dont really get what you mean. You talk about "disarming France", which in reality never happened and was never a part of Germany's plan. Vichy France kept an army and law enforcement agencies. Germany only wanted to take alsace lorraine from France, which was their territory before the Treaty of Versailles, the rest would've stayed pretty much the same. In fact after the Treaty of Versailles, the french occupied large parts of Germany.
