I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again If The Crimson Permanent Assurance was a full length feature it would have been one of the most monumental & beloved pieces in cinematic history.
Terry Gilliam: "Hey guys, can I make this epic 16-minute standalone short with insane production values before our movie begins?" Rest of Monty Python: "Sure, go right ahead!"
Classic. Too damn funny. It's the details that count: bumping of the head while walking the plank, putting in the dentures, the crow on the ship's wheel.
When I was in college with my roommate we went to see this movie with no clue as to what it was. On the way to the theater I complained him, I'm tired of the usual stuff, I want to see something radical. About 2 minutes in as the old guys start their mutiny he turns to me and says, "is this radical enough for you?"
This skit literally brought tears to my eyes. I’m so glad to be English. And I’m so thankful this bunch made such great laughs for so so many. Thanks folks.
What a hoot all those old actors must have had every day on set making that! ... and probably with no fkn idea how their antics were going to fit in to the final epic story.
When this part of the movie ended, I thought that was the actual show. I was like "who the frick would want to buy such a short movie?" Beyond Creative.
I stumbled on this accidentally when watching a clip of Meaning of Life. (Still haven't seen the whole thing outside those Fandago clips) But recently i saw this part in this boardroom with these execs talking about the stuff they owned until the ship building showed up interrupting the scene. I couldn't hear the name Idol yelled, but it sounded like THE CRIMSON PIRATES OF ZURICH, or something like that. But it sounded really funny and interesting. And now seeing a longer clip in context you've posted here, WOW, this looks ANAZING with a whole lot of whimsy!❤❤❤❤ Thank u for posting this clip and keeping it around all these years and not getting UA-cam snapped. 🙏🏽❤️❤️
1:35 "That's it, Evans. You're fired." Evans: "What the hell was that?" "You heard me; Out!" Oppressed businessman about to become a pirate: "Did you hear that? He's (Evans) been sacked!" 2:33 American businessman realizes he's in a fight a he can't so... He jumps out the window...
Well it might be some classic piece but to me it just sounds like standard 1930s adventures on the high seas music, or maybe pirate movies. All the Errol Flynn stuff.
Whaaaa dude you really are in the minority on that one Im afraid, this is pure genius (unless you dont get british humor which in that case stick to nice american sitcoms)
But why did this uploader of "Part 1+2" cut out the most subversive scene of all - the executive boardroom meeting(link) which also actually features most of the Python team? Here's what the uploader conspicuously cut out: ua-cam.com/video/aSO9OFJNMBA/v-deo.htmlsi=6tFxTmwD27G1IH_T PS. No comment-posters seem to have noticed this cunning omission - so it seems that most of you aren't quite as savvy and razor-sharp as you seem to think you are.. Paul G
It is a seperate piece using the same footage since it breaks continuity by having another building fall and crush the Crimson Permanent Assurence building.
I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again

And yet Mortal Engines bombed.
Say it again, DJ!
Terry Gilliam: "Hey guys, can I make this epic 16-minute standalone short with insane production values before our movie begins?"
Rest of Monty Python: "Sure, go right ahead!"
They intended it as animation, in Meaning of Life. But Gilliam didn't feel it fit with the rest of the film so it became its own feature.
Classic. Too damn funny. It's the details that count: bumping of the head while walking the plank, putting in the dentures, the crow on the ship's wheel.
The imagination involved in this film is flawless.
The scene when the raise the anchor and it pulls from the sidewalk always gets me.
Right? Like before then it's just a funny bit, but at that point it's like, Oh no, they thought this THROUGH.
That's what I call a successful financial launch.

The music in this is absolutely beautiful...
Yes! That's what I think every time I watch this clip!
This was the most expencive AND the most EPIC one of ANY Monty Python sketches!!!!
This skit literally brought tears to my eyes. I’m so glad to be English. And I’m so thankful this bunch made such great laughs for so so many. Thanks folks.
Terry Gilliam is brilliant 😊 his animation was just off the wall. ☺️
4:38-4:44 There is something so quintessentially British about pushing a man to his death, with a proper "sorry". 🤣
After all these years still brilliant, thanks for posting.
"And you, put the kettle on!"
Aye, Sir! 🫡
What a hoot all those old actors must have had every day on set making that! ... and probably with no fkn idea how their antics were going to fit in to the final epic story.
I'm pretty sure it's illegal for anything to be this good.
When this part of the movie ended, I thought that was the actual show. I was like "who the frick would want to buy such a short movie?"
Beyond Creative.
One of the BEST Monty Python bits EVER!
This one of the top all time creative short that has ever been made.
The best kind of anarchy.

What we need to see happen to Wall Street and the world financial world!

Two viewers are corporate bankers.

"That's it, Evans. You're fired."
Evans:
"What the hell was that?"
"You heard me; Out!"
Oppressed businessman about to become a pirate:
"Did you hear that? He's (Evans) been sacked!"
2:33
American businessman realizes he's in a fight a he can't so... He jumps out the window...
This the most epic tale of all time!xD
this is what Mortal Engines should've been like
Damn right.
Always warms my heart😊
only the best mutiny ever!
I am gonna watch this short film before Sonic 4 in 2027.
lol. "Sorry!"
Please.. Does someone have the sountrack to this? It is so damm good!
I wish, I've looked myself and can't find anything besides the accountant song
This was pure genius!!!
This is what life would be like if I worked for SEGA.
I would like to get a job with the crimson permanent assurance company.
he he he 7:11 The first Tea Bagger!
It really for tells the uprising of Old Men!!!!!
only monty python could've made this up xD
The actors all died on the brink of a sequel. Age waits for no man and very few women. Hence the absence of ladies in this epic...
Anyone know the name of the piece of music ???
Well it might be some classic piece but to me it just sounds like standard 1930s adventures on the high seas music, or maybe pirate movies. All the Errol Flynn stuff.
I love this so much!
Nigel Hawthorne at 5:24 and 5:34
Why does the building have a anchor chain?
To stop it from moving with the wind and tidal conditions. Duh.
Who here wants to bet this skit inspired the candy pirates in codename knd?
Lord if this could only be done to Slime Minister Keir Starmer!
@stuqua or worked at the leman brothers bank
I actually snorted water out of my nome oh my God hahahahahhahahahahahahahhz
When will anyone make a WallStreetsBets video meme out of this?
Whaaaa dude you really are in the minority on that one Im afraid, this is pure genius (unless you dont get british humor which in that case stick to nice american sitcoms)
Currently Funimation and their “customers”
shame that everything is too fast
