The Crimson Permanent Assurance from Monty Python's The Meaning of Life: Part 1.
This one of the top all time creative short that has ever been made.
It always the details: the guy continuing to add names to the wall in the midst of the fight, the guy grabbing the last piece of printout paper. Classic.
Classic. Too damn funny. It's the details that count: bumping of the head while walking the plank, putting in the dentures, the crow on the ship's wheel.
Lord if this could only be done to Slime Minister Keir Starmer!
Adventure Capitalists.
After all these years still brilliant, thanks for posting.
Why does the building have a anchor chain?
To stop it from moving with the wind and tidal conditions. Duh.
I am gonna watch this short film before Sonic 4 in 2027.
Terry Gilliam is just amazing. And of course, Matt Frewer while he still had hair!
A legend that will last a lunchtime.
Thanks, Reddit, you sent me here again.
Words cannot describe the Power of the Crimson Permanent Assurance!
I would like to get a job with the crimson permanent assurance company.
When I was in college with my roommate we went to see this movie with no clue as to what it was. On the way to the theater I complained him, I'm tired of the usual stuff, I want to see something radical. About 2 minutes in as the old guys start their mutiny he turns to me and says, "is this radical enough for you?"
This skit literally brought tears to my eyes. I’m so glad to be English. And I’m so thankful this bunch made such great laughs for so so many. Thanks folks.
Please tell me there is an accounting firm today known as Permanent Assurance
Anarco-Capitalism in motion.
Now this is what anti-work should been!
This is what life would be like if I worked for SEGA.
Who here wants to bet this skit inspired the candy pirates in codename knd?
The power of unions is strong! Workers of the world unite ✊🏼
I believe this is the best short film of all times.
But why did this uploader of "Part 1+2" cut out the most subversive scene of all - the executive boardroom meeting(link) which also actually features most of the Python team? Here's what he conspicuously cut out: ua-cam.com/video/aSO9OFJNMBA/v-deo.htmlsi=6tFxTmwD27G1IH_T PS. No comment-posters seem to have noticed this cunning omission - so it seems that most of you aren't quite as savvy and razor-sharp and you seem to think you are... Paul G
It is a seperate piece using the same footage since it breaks continuity by having another building fall and crush the Crimson Permanent Assurence building.

Now that was hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don’t know why or how this roused me or brought me to tears.
Terry Gilliam: "Hey guys, can I make this epic 16-minute standalone short with insane production values before our movie begins?" Rest of Monty Python: "Sure, go right ahead!"
They intended it as animation, in Meaning of Life. But Gilliam didn't feel it fit with the rest of the film so it became its own feature.

hehehe You said Ass.
I'm pretty sure it's illegal for anything to be this good.
Absolute genius!
this is what Mortal Engines should've been like
Damn right.
This was pure genius!!!
The scene when the raise the anchor and it pulls from the sidewalk always gets me.
Right? Like before then it's just a funny bit, but at that point it's like, Oh no, they thought this THROUGH.
That's what I call a successful financial launch.
Any time I play a game that involves ships and piracy (sea or space), I always name my ship after the legendary pirate ship the Crimson Permanent Assurance.
Always warms my heart😊
Ross Davidson from EastEnders
I''m going to tell my kids this was 9/11
Marx's wettest dream
am I the only one that wants to see more of this sketch
I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again If The Crimson Permanent Assurance was a full length feature it would have been one of the most monumental & beloved pieces in cinematic history.
And yet Mortal Engines bombed.
Say it again, DJ!
What a hoot all those old actors must have had every day on set making that! ... and probably with no fkn idea how their antics were going to fit in to the final epic story.
Terry Gilliam is brilliant 😊 his animation was just off the wall. ☺️
When will anyone make a WallStreetsBets video meme out of this?
Talk about predicting the future. In 2024 the raiders have destroyed the west.
THIS WAS AMAZING ❤❤❤👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥LOVED THIS short a bunch. Thanks for having it up. Loved the high set design and crazy whimsy for this fantasy version of accountants😆
I stumbled on this accidentally when watching a clip of Meaning of Life. (Still haven't seen the whole thing outside those Fandago clips) But recently i saw this part in this boardroom with these execs talking about the stuff they owned until the ship building showed up interrupting the scene. I couldn't hear the name Idol yelled, but it sounded like THE CRIMSON PIRATES OF ZURICH, or something like that. But it sounded really funny and interesting. And now seeing a longer clip in context you've posted here, WOW, this looks ANAZING with a whole lot of whimsy!❤❤❤❤ Thank u for posting this clip and keeping it around all these years and not getting UA-cam snapped. 🙏🏽❤️❤️
It gets weird/strange/odd when the small building having business pirates looks like Gallalee Hall [Physics Department] at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, the home of Crimson Tide football.
Please.. Does someone have the score to this short film?
Please.. Does someone have the sountrack to this? It is so damm good!
I wish, I've looked myself and can't find anything besides the accountant song
