The strangest things about this film to me still are: that Travolta improvised the face touching thing (which How Did This Get Made called "Face Waterfalls" and I think that works), that Nic Cage improvised the whole "I wanna take his face OFF" scene, that the police report on Michael's death weirdly offers a hypothesis on why the boy was shot and points out Archer was the target (as if the report wanted him to feel guilty every time he read it), and that the boots in the prison are the boots from the Super Mario Bros movie. I love this insane movie! Originally, the ending was going to take place in a mirror factory and I keep imagining what THAT would have been like!

  • @PyroOfZen

This movie, in my opinion, shows that no matter how awful your premise is, you can still make something great out of it. That even bad ideas can be fantastic. And not in a "So bad it's good" kind of way. This is genuinely a great movie.

I love this movie. You can feel, that alot of care and thought went into it. Not in terms of scientific accuracy, but with shot composition, story, characters, moments and action scenes. The scene with mirror stand off makes it all worth it by itself. You can't do this kind of scene if you don't care about the movie you're making. This is art. Silly, campy, incredible art. This is actually one of my favourite films. Might be because of the trivia I heard about the film, it's also mentioned on IMDBs website for the film. That Travolta and Cage spent a lot of time before they started filming, according to IMDB was about 2 weeks. They studied each other, and learnt each others gestures, and their vocal cadences and so on. I'm not sure how true this trivia is, but I do think if true, it makes both their acting roles in the film even more impressive. Yes it is an actors job to act, but I think to get gestures down pat, and everything else about a person, is extremely well done.

You guys mentioned about Sasha when she tells (Archer) Castor that the kid is his, wondering if it’s the first time - I’m pretty sure it’s the first time because then she brings him over and tells him she has someone for him to meet. The thing I think plays interesting with her later is at the stand-off - she comes to it still thinking that Castor is really still Castor, but I think when (Castor) Archer tells he they are each other, she realises the truth - the castor really killed her brother, and Archer has said that he’ll be ‘out of her life’ - she sees a way out for her and her kid, because she helps Eve get away and covers her. So I think when she’s lying there dying and says to ‘take care of our boy, don’t let him turn out like us’ - .i think she’s knowingly telling Archer to take care of her son so he’ll grow up with a good life and not turn out to be the monster that Caster is.

Another weird fact for you; the actress that plays Jamie, Dominique Swain, also starred alongside Danny’s brother Christopher Masterson in the movie, Girl, around the same time as this. Christopher Masterson is probably best known as the elder brother, Francis, from Malcolm in the Middle. Small world.

The casting for this film was amazing. You have John Travolta and Nic Cage acting crazy as the Castor Troy character, but then Joan Allen is so grounded to balance the craziness so you still feel there are stakes.

for those who don't know John Woo also did Paycheck with Ben Affleck and Uma Thurman, based on a short story by Philip K Dick (Total Recall, Minority Report, Imposter, A Scanner Darkly, Blade Runner).

@Blind Wave 48:53 There is an Oscars for stunts, the Taurus World Stunt Awards, they are not as big budget as they used to be but they did stunts on the show as well, i found out about the show through the gem of a game Stuntman: Ignition.

There should be a sequel to the film. The two main actors should be back.

It's funny how you notice prominent actors in old movies when you clearly know they;re there but your brain just wipes it from your mind and then you grow up more and appreciate those actors more and see them again and its like seeing them again for the first time and you're like I didn't know they were in this!!!

Just have to throw this out there: When I first saw this movie, I was shocked to find out that Dietrich was also the main villain from the classic 80s movie The Wraith. Grew up watching that damn movie all.the.time!
You guys should totally react to that 😁 It’s a fantastic revenge flick.
