Good tips, just one point to make with that F20 exhaust, it's a known problem with those that the diffuser material can get full of moisture and actually blocks up and suffocates the patient. Resmed had an old elbow design that didn't suffer this issue but they switched it to the new faulty design for some unknown reason (I have one of the old elbows and it's definitely not louder than the new style). To get around the issue with the new style elbow, one can snap off the translucent plastic cover and take out the diffuser. The air will then shoot out like with the other masks you showed. You can also just yank the diffuser out of there but then air will hit the cover and make even more noise.

Yes, this is true about the elbow for the F20..... When I called my cpap supplier , I was able to order the original ResMed elbow .... part # 63476
No covering up of the exhale holes... I ordered 2 of them.

But the safety valves should be constantly opening and closing right? Like when you breathe out they should open so the CO2 can escape? Or do they stay closed the whole time?

The safety valves should stay closed. Exhaled gas exits via the exhale port(s).
