Even if people say he are freddie's impersonator, i wouldn't hate him because he really bless with talent and has his own quality. He can play piano and guitar. And for me, he really natural to sing like fredie mercury's voice. You can hear he sing another song beside queen's song like "all i want for christmas is you".
The are only two or three singers that would even dare do the impromptu songs on a radio show, without autotune, without rest, without warming up. He is a throwback to when vocalist actually had to be talented and do it with thier voice.
Thank you for everything, Todd. You are on point as always. If I had the only wish, I'd want at least the same amount of attention to his solo material. Impersonator was very very solid and now it's time for a second album ("Soundalike"? lol), preferably even more daring and hard rock with throwbacks to the epic classics. Marc's own sound is kind of an amalgam of Queen, Muse, Keane, U2 and some others, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with his natural voice, a mix of Freddie Mercury, George Michael and Jeff Buckley. I want him to be recognized as an artist and songwriter in his own right, finally...
Actually, one more wish: A worthy duet. Ideally, with the fellow Canadian singer, amazing vocalist and a huge fan of his, as it turns out. Oh gosh, what's her name...

Ben Shive is great for orchestrations, John Fields (who has produced a hundred pop albums by Pink, Miley, Selina, Back Street Boys) doesn't get more rock than Switchfoot, which is good, but not the throwback rock I'd like to hear. People are accusing Marc copying Freddie's style but the truth is never. He has his own style, techniques and tone. It just that his voice has resemblance to of Freddie's. His voice is natural. People throwing shades and negative words to Marc are the ones who only watched his covers performing Queen's song but not the other songs just like I will Always love you (with over 1.4 million views on his yt account).
Martel is not Freddie. Does he has Mustache? Does he copy Freddie's wardrobe style? Does he copy Freddie's signature moves? No. Never. He has his own style. So stop throwing shades to him. 6:40 - this answer makes me wonder if Marc decided that the 4-5 nights in a row for 11 weeks for QuEx might be a bit more intense of a schedule than he'd like to commit to do, especially if he wants his voice to still be there on that 4/5th night and into that 10/11th week. Wishing good health to all of those guys in the band with that grueling tour schedule.
With Black Jacket Symphony he did a Friday night concert, followed by a Saturday and afternoon, and Saturday Evening concerts. 3 concerts (all him) where in Extravaganza he at least has other singers that fill in leads on different songs. So THAT was really gueling, but concert goers who went to all three BJS concerts said he was as good at the beginning as he was at the end. He does JUST NEEDS rest. The hardest thing for him is to sing early mornings. His WGN morning show song showed his voice fatigued (but he still nails it.)

That QuEx tour, sleeping (or rather NOT sleeping) on the tour bus, with a new city every night, with single rest days after 3 back-to-back shows for 11 weeks straight... that tour schedule seems intense for this 9-to-5 worker bee. If I do any sort of speaking seminar for 3 days in a row, I don't have a voice for the next week, but I also don't use those muscles near as often. My throat hurts just thinking about it.
Wait, "all him"? Did Marc do I'm In Love With My Car, '39, or Good Company with BJS? He's got a few breaks as a vocalist if they're doing ANATO in full and have someone else cover Roger's and Brian's vocals. It's more "all Marc" with UQC than QuEx.

His band WAS called "downhere" (lower case). They were moving on from singing together when the audition for QuEx was opened and Marc started the new phase of his career.

I agree with my predeser. He sounds like Freddie unlike the fake adam lambert. I have loved and will for ever,but when lambert sings I turn off in disgust. He should have never been selected to play with the best band in the world.
I would rather watch a live concert with Marc Martel and the Extravaganza than the Queen with Adam Lambert, as much as I love the band, I just hate Adam voice and performance. Its like stabbing a knife on people who trully love Queen + Freddie
