Fannita is entitled and she always has been, but people just saw it as confidence when she was bigger because the belief is fat people can't feel entitled because they're fat. Fannita is known for being kind of creepy towards men due to her thirst trap reactions, for her beliefs of being better than everyone else, and that her weight was the only thing holding her back. Now that she lost the weight and people's treatment towards her has remained the same, if not has gotten worse, she's feeling resentful. The same men she was chasing still don't want her back, she isn't making the same money as the influencers she sees she is on the same level with or believes she's better than (even if the numbers don't match), she's showing resentment.
I think this is a very interesting perspective! We usually see weight as all bad, but in this early case, her being overweight actually had an advantage, in a way
The thing that gets me is that she’s not wrong; fat people, black people, and women are paid less whilst having to do more than their more privileged counterparts so being at the intersection of all three has the system even more against her. I think a reason to why people are turning on her is more to do with the fact that (at least imo) that her activism(?) in calling out the system is more fuelled from an individualistic “SHE should be benefiting from the system (esp now that she fits more into that conventional beauty standard)” and not a “the system is unfair and EVERYONE should be getting the same treatment” if that makes sense? Mixed with the seemingly backstabbing of her previous communities (who are the ones that have supported her to be in the position/with the privilege to leave said community) and her mean girl attitude? Can’t say I’m surprised.
Her problem is that she equates being fat with being a black woman and she feels that losing that identity would justify the idea that she’s superior to others.
27:32 her bragging about making six figures, and the year isn't even over yet is infuriating. also, we definitely all called alix disgusting for keeping a soiled dress. like, there was nothing relatable or endearing about that
soz besties, i'm just gonna say it... i don't like fannita because i find her personality obnoxious and annoying. it has nothing to do with her weight, weight loss, race or anything of the sort. i just genuinely find her insufferable as a person.
Same! Like I could understand her personality but the belief that being skinny gives you a pass to be mean and nasty to your fan base makes me dislike her even more
Yeah i hated her stupid “youre mad!!” Bs ever since i saw those vids of her being a brand bootlicker. Like yeah i bet you have haters, youre fucking annoying even to passersby
no shame on having a day job and a youtube channel, i saw someone in the commentary space that's a literal lawyer during the day whatever lets you eat and pay rent and live is all good congratulations on the masters degree!!!
i saw someone say that fannita should’ve compared herself to brittany broski (or however you spell it, i don’t really care for her). which they’re correct. the content is fairly similar.
ooh wait i never heard that take before. why would they say that and why don't u care for Brittany? (no hate, its just that people usually have good things to say about her)
the way she publicly posted her berating her friends for money, as if messaging your entire contact list at 6 am for cashapp donations wasn't embarrassing enough. Also, the way the one with the wedding was so nice and asking how fannita was doing, just for her to call them a grand wizard for not donating $100 is crazy.
Fanita may be exaggerating, but I always find it interesting when women discover they’re treated worse by other women when they become more conventionally attractive. In my experience this is true, especially if you’re recognized publicly for your appearance. I was signed by an intl agency when I was 15, & modeled juniors swimwear, sportswear, & formal wear for brands throughout the 2010s. Since I’m an introvert, I was assumed to be a snob, & some girls were utterly vicious- spreading rumors & gossiping, claiming I was too short, was gaining weight, etc. (my measurements are the same as Kate Moss, which is on the petite side for runway but standard for marketing work, esp swim, lingerie, etc). I’m glad my parents made me prioritize college & career. While I enjoyed my time modeling & got good experience traveling & with people, it’s not a happy existence. Imagine being treated as an object- literally for the purpose of presenting clothing merchandise in print modeling- & being creepily admired by men while being resented & treated as an outsider by women. We all have a different journey & different struggles, so you should never see someone else & think “I’d be so happy with her life.” A lot of these women who are the object of jealousy are actually miserable
Even as an overweight woman, there is a point when I lose weight where my chest completely hides my stomach and gives me a nice figure... and I last a few months like that before some guy does something so creepy I end up fear binging and putting weight back on. While I am still envious of being able to find cute clothes easier, I definitely no longer envy the attention conventionally attractive, slim women get. As you said, we all have our own struggles and we'd be better off working together than hating on each other.
Alix Earle doesn't just lead an aspirational life, she projects a peace of mind many aspire to have. Fannita has money, but is always complaining about something. That's the central difference in their content.
"censoring my (your) full government name" I THOUGHT YOUR NAME WAS Mika Rhetoric!! Not really though. Congrats about your degree!!! I am envious, my mom (and her brother, and mom, and basically everyone else too) have at least one degree, but I've never been. I really love your channel, thanks for the content!!!!
So it seems like she was always a mean girl. But as she said herself, people didn't mind it when she was fat cos she was just that iconic sassy, overweight black girl. But now that she's no longer that person, people are paying more attention to her words and not just writing her off because of her appearance. A pretty, skinny girl's words will be more scrutinized by society. Whether it's because they want to pay more attention to her or because people like to assume the worst of conventionally attractive women.
As someone who doesn’t know who this is, she's having a classic influencer breakdown. That moment when they are no longer relatable to the audience, and the audience turns on them. She's also discovering that massive weight loss unfortunately can come with major criticism.
And that last point is just absolutely horrible. What happened to just being supportive of someone changing their body for themselves? This is still body shaming
Receiving hatred for undergoing major body changes makes no sense to me. You cant be body positive then shame someone for making a change they believe will better themselves.
@@HobieInTheBox Once you put yourself out as a public figure, expect trolling and bad faith actors. It's why I wonder how ego driven you have to be to crave fame.
@@MsMvsc it's not about being a public influencer. It's about the hypocrisy of "body positive" people criticising ANY PERSON online that chooses to change themselves.
I love when you cover stuff that I’ve seen before and was interested in but never actually looked into so I get to learn everything from you 🙇♀️🙇♀️ also congrats!!! 💐
i used to watch fannita pre weight loss surgery, while watching her i could tell that her personality and the bits she would do were probably a product of her insecurity. i loved her content and found her relatable and funny and even as she lost weight i loved to see her true confidence come out. but being raised and growing up insecure clearly affects her still and her victim mentality shows. i think sometimes she takes the joke to far but i do truly still like her
Maybe unpopular opinion but she's absolutely right. People will almost condescend you if you're plus sized. At the same time they will get up in your business no matter what you do with your body. She lost weight and people treat it like a personal betrayal. Which is absolutely insane and it's also insane nobody acknowledges this. This is still body shaming. And the hypocrisy around this is so damaging
Am I the only one who feels like she might be having a manic episode or a mental health moment of sorts? I never kept up with her before this situation but she seems unwell
Hell yeah! I'm so excited to hear your take on this! You always have a unique approach to topics/ppl/internet culture, examining multiple perspectives and beyond the obvious Edit: I just finished the video. I have so many mixed feelings about this. I think a lot of her anger and frustrations are valid. I agree that she wants a certain lifestyle and has been trying to get that social value but the systems in place STILL prevent her from that, even after losing weight. But she REALLY needs to deal with all that in PRIVATE. the place we are in rn, esp w concerning celebrity worship now doing a 180, OBVIOUSLY her audience turned on her. She essentially turned her back on her "broke" normal ppl supporters. She recognizes racial disparities, size disparities, while in the same breath demands to be aligned w the system and demands all the benefits. It just makes me really sad, esp bc I think she IS getting more criticism bc she's black. Personally, I think she needs to take a step back and process the resentment privately bc audiences can switch up so fast and when you rely on social media for income, you NEED to be careful. We're STILL in the early days of the internet. Everything is unpredictable. We are only just now seeing a generation of young kids who've never known a life before social media. Idk I have too many thoughts ig, I never really followed her but she would come up on my fyp occasionally
All I gotta say if that’s how she acted before then I’m surprised on how she had any followers. She has such a nasty energy to her.. even if she’s making valid points. I don’t wanna hear it from her. I get being angry and snapping at people but this isn’t just that.
The thing is she’s right about a lot of what she says regarding discrimination and being marginalized. HOWEVER, she makes mistakes in presenting her points by mixing in incorrect information and she tries to step on others to get ahead.
As a fat person, I’m so tired of fat-centric content from anyone at this point. I hate that if I want to watch someone for inspiration to lose weight I either have to watch someone tell me how disgusting we both are since we’re fat and let’s fix it or someone who makes excuses until they quit.
The privileged position to once being the marginalized person who was left in the dust, but then turned around and make it every other person's fault. Don't take the few supporters' efforts, become the martyr to only turn around to be the instigator. The tricky thing about social media influencer/advocate online is that you're not always going to find someone who's out here to actually advocate for anybody but themselves.
Just wanted to say I recently found your channel and I love how you bring a rhetoric and educational side to these internet topics!! Love your vids! Keep it up! (I’m also a southern Ontario girly) 💕💕
So the thing is, it may be that the audiences she’s looking for are racist towards “black luxury”…. But telling them that won’t make them watch it. If the audience isn’t there it isn’t there. It doesn’t make it ok or good it’s just reality.
I think you did a good job breaking some of her issues down. . . There was a lot more going on then just the pay gap and weight issues she had issues with a few blk tiktokers but I also think it's an inside the community issue and fannita definitely is unhappy on many different levels with herself and needs some therapy to address those and congrats on the degree 🎉🎉
Also even if you have insurance in the US, a lot will not cover gastric bypass surgery. Even if deemed medically necessary. And forget about skin removal post weight loss! 😂
Hi bestie another fabulous video!! Have you considered doing a video on Poppy and Zena/the weaponization of certifications and education online?? It’s a bit of a rabbit hole but I know of some creators who would def be willing to do a live/get on a voicechat with you to break it down 🤗🤗 Also, happy birthday cancer queen!!
Literally when that started to go down, my first thought was contacting Mika because I was so desperate for her takes on that but I was worried it would be too niche and she wouldn't care about it, so I'm so excited to see another human being who thought the same! 🎉🎉
I came across them before all the nasty stories started blowing up. I can't remember how I found the channel, but I watched a video or two. A video related to all the stuff surrounding them would be too much but I think if you did a video about the weaponisation of certifications, qualifications, education, and employment would be the way to go. I can think of a bunch of creators who are counsellors, therapists, psychologists, and other jobs in mental health who use their qualifications or work to give them and what they're saying legitimacy, but they say some really questionable, inaccurate, or even dangerous, damaging, and harmful stuff. So you could possibly bring up other creators in relation to the topic. Although the stuff with Poppy and Zena gets dark and heavy. I also wouldn't blame you if you didn't want to tackle it. Like even if the video isn't just detailing everything but focusing on people who use qualifications and stuff as a shield and stuff like that, just reading about everything would be a lot.@@MikasRhetoric
Fannita is like chaotic evil and Drew Afualo is chaotic good in my eyes. Both of them are targeting horrible men in similar ways but Drew remains separate from Fannita in an odd way. It’s disappointing to have seen her on Drew’s pod as a huge fan of the Afualo sisters, but ig that was before the recent discourse surrounding Fannita.
When I was 14 I went up to 220 pounds. When I was 17 I lost all the weight and I was really feeling myself. I wasn’t mean to people but I started becoming judgmental to overweight people. But guess what happened?? LIFE HUMBLED ME ! I gained all the weight back and I’m still struggling to lose it. Fannita better stop before she end up gaining all the weight back after talking all that shit lmao
She’s always been kinda insufferable as a personality on this here internet. I’m not surprised by this recent situation but as you can see in the clips of her in the link robe- those were very real shots people & Fannita herself are trying to pass off. Coming back to rewatch anything regarding that, it’s very clear it was rooted in truth for her.
HUGE congrats on getting your masters!! I skipped my Bachelor of Arts grad due to covid, hopefully I can go to my master’s graduation in a couple years 🤞
Congrats on your degree 🖤. Black women are criticized way more for buying luxury goods. It’s as if the “greater good” feels we don’t deserve it. I believe that’s the point Fannita was attempting to make she’s just genuinely a nasty try person. Several valid points were made in her rant though. Even having more followers is systemic we know FOR A FACT Tik Tok pushes people through the algorithm for how they look. It is what it is.
mikaaaaaa you’re the best! huge congrats on your masters!!!! and i really hope you blow up to like at LEAST swell entertainment levels of views and subscribers one day. that would be amazing. your analysis and knowledge is absolutely incredible

As a mixed fat girl, I think she was frothing at the mouth to be skinny to truly embrace her mean girl vibes. People are more forgiving with skinny and white men girls so I think she expected a pass now that’s she’s skinny. She’s bitter because her behavior still doesn’t fly. Also congrats on ur masters Mika!! Your grad outfit slays ✨
I'm sorry but the way she goes about it gives: 'I wouldn't talk about this issue if I was in their team'. Her tiktoks feel like she's using valid issues, not out of an actual desire to solve them, but out of pure jealousy.
also people do not seem to know what jealous means. they think that if you express negativity that you're jealous. however tons of people express jealousy through positive ways. literally the only reason why she has that many followers is because people are jealous. they don't watch her because she's relatable they watch her because they want to live that life aka they are envious.
I'm about to start grad school in August and you are a huge part of my inspiration to do it. Congrats on graduating, thanks for setting the example and showing It's doable - smart girlies foreverrrrr~💖💖💖

Exactly. It feels like she's saying that she fits the mold better now, where's her reward when most of us aren't for the system in the first place
27:32 her bragging about making six figures, and the year isn't even over yet is infuriating. also, we definitely all called alix disgusting for keeping a soiled dress. like, there was nothing relatable or endearing about that
Yeah I’d think anyone is nasty for doing that no matter what they look like 😂
soz besties, i'm just gonna say it... i don't like fannita because i find her personality obnoxious and annoying. it has nothing to do with her weight, weight loss, race or anything of the sort. i just genuinely find her insufferable as a person.
Ok
Same.
Me too bestie
no shame on having a day job and a youtube channel, i saw someone in the commentary space that's a literal lawyer during the day
whatever lets you eat and pay rent and live is all good
congratulations on the masters degree!!!
The woman with the chalkboard is giving me life!
Bro your cat looks like mine
@@zomgkb you’re the second person from this channel to say that! Intelligent people love beautiful cats. ;)
The increased tapping with the chalk while saying “this right here” had me cracking up 😂
,,
That was my favorite part!😂🤣
i saw someone say that fannita should’ve compared herself to brittany broski (or however you spell it, i don’t really care for her). which they’re correct. the content is fairly similar.
ooh wait i never heard that take before. why would they say that and why don't u care for Brittany? (no hate, its just that people usually have good things to say about her)
the way she publicly posted her berating her friends for money, as if messaging your entire contact list at 6 am for cashapp donations wasn't embarrassing enough. Also, the way the one with the wedding was so nice and asking how fannita was doing, just for her to call them a grand wizard for not donating $100 is crazy.
So embarrassing, I can't fathom why she would share that online 😳
Yay Masters! Congratulations!
Thank you 🥹🥹🩷🩷🩷
When she’s in the black athletic wear, I wanted to fix her waistband so bad. I know that’s me being petty but it drove me to madness 😂
“Men who have never seen the light of day or felt the touch of a woman” damn a poetic read
As you said, we all have our own struggles and we'd be better off working together than hating on each other.
u r an influencer, u influence me to think critically and go back to school and be goofy tysm
Thank you! That’s the only way I want to be an influencer
"alright you grand wizard" message IS CRAZY OML
Alix Earle doesn't just lead an aspirational life, she projects a peace of mind many aspire to have. Fannita has money, but is always complaining about something. That's the central difference in their content.
That’s a really good point that I never considered. Peace of mind and tranquility is aspirational. Thanks for that
Losing weight doesn’t help the mental health problems you had. Trauma is not stored in fat cells.
21:04 oop, and the projection be projecting
Hell yeah I love when Mika explains things I have no idea about
Congrats on the masters degree! so slay
Mika S. Rhetoric. The S is for Slay.
Whether it's because they want to pay more attention to her or because people like to assume the worst of conventionally attractive women.
the bad part is 90% her points were valid.. her delivery was just horrible sob
it’s the entitlement to wealth where i get stuck
I don't know. I don't think Fannita is wrong, but I also do not think she is a champion for the things she says.
I’m packing up my house while going through a breakup I don’t think you know how much this video helped me through it ❤
im wishing for better days ahead for you!
I hope things get better and you’re stronger every day because of it
That pause after her saying she is funnier was a bit too long. Like. There is pause for effect and then a pause that suggests a level of uncertainty
@@HobieInTheBox
Once you put yourself out as a public figure, expect trolling and bad faith actors. It's why I wonder how ego driven you have to be to crave fame.
@HobieInTheBox a lot of fat activists publicly criticize people who lose weight, plus theres just assholes who think its their buisness
i used to watch fannita pre weight loss surgery, while watching her i could tell that her personality and the bits she would do were probably a product of her insecurity. i loved her content and found her relatable and funny and even as she lost weight i loved to see her true confidence come out. but being raised and growing up insecure clearly affects her still and her victim mentality shows. i think sometimes she takes the joke to far but i do truly still like her
congrats on the master's!! and at 24? sheeesh
I’m actually still 23 🤭
Maybe unpopular opinion but she's absolutely right.
Congrats on your degree!!
Am I the only one who feels like she might be having a manic episode or a mental health moment of sorts? I never kept up with her before this situation but she seems unwell
She definitely is
would you ever consider doing a video on lillie jean? i find that whole thing so fascinating and no one talks about it!
I’m scared she’ll strike me
No one talks about bc her and her mom are nuts, they’ve been harassing another creator for like two years bc of a video he made on them 😭

@@MikasRhetoric the fairest and most reasonable response honestly
Hell yeah! I'm so excited to hear your take on this! You always have a unique approach to topics/ppl/internet culture, examining multiple perspectives and beyond the obvious
Edit: I just finished the video.
I think what fannita forgot is that weightloss wont erase her blackness which unfortunately will be the most defining factor in America
28:38 “I’m not trying to drag you, I’m just directly insulting you and what you do” like girl be real or don’t 😂😂😂
Free Gaza free Congo free Palestine free Haiti
28:29 I truly don't care who it could be that throws up in their closet and leaves it in their for over a year. It's disgusting no matter who
of course you don't. you're 1 person.

Btw, congratulations for the masters! A true educated queen👑
just got my masters in being a stay at home daughter (in all seriousness that’s such an achievement, congratulations!!!!)
I'm completely unaware of this. Will watch religiously for the queen
Hi bestie another fabulous video!! Have you considered doing a video on Poppy and Zena/the weaponization of certifications and education online?? It’s a bit of a rabbit hole but I know of some creators who would def be willing to do a live/get on a voicechat with you to break it down 🤗🤗
Also, happy birthday cancer queen!!
I have been hearing about this I just need to figure out who they are 👁️👄👁️
Literally when that started to go down, my first thought was contacting Mika because I was so desperate for her takes on that but I was worried it would be too niche and she wouldn't care about it, so I'm so excited to see another human being who thought the same! 🎉🎉
I am a full blown Poppy-storian at this point
@@MikasRhetoric if you want, i’m sure leading poppy-storian @GodamnitMalcolm would hop on a livestream to chat about it!
It’s the facial expressions….that just puts everything over the top for me.
definitely. I wish more people talked about it. Its scary. And she will do it while saying she isn't dragging people...
I skipped my Bachelor of Arts grad due to covid, hopefully I can go to my master’s graduation in a couple years 🤞
Studying for finals and I can’t tell you how elated I was opening the app to a new upload 😭🙏🏼 + congrats on your masters!
Congrats on your masters graduation and getting a researcher! 🎉

46:14 teen mom is so disgusting that show gives a HUGE ick

The black board TikTok was fucking iconic tbh

She has the same crazy enlarged eyes like azelia banks
also people do not seem to know what jealous means. they think that if you express negativity that you're jealous. however tons of people express jealousy through positive ways. literally the only reason why she has that many followers is because people are jealous. they don't watch her because she's relatable they watch her because they want to live that life aka they are envious.
28:00 she's giving 2024 wendy williams vibes
