When I worked in the South Bronx back in the 90’s there was a parking garage near a school where many teachers parked. This was before EZ Pass. Many complained that their cars had 20-40 extra miles on them after they got out of work. It hit the fan when someone received a parking ticket from Newark during the school day. They tried to take them to court but they had multiple business names and corporate owners. These scams have been going on for years.
Did long term parking once around there, when i went back to pick up my car, had to dig through a box of unsorted car keys, had to help the guy move cars to get my car out (of course i treated them carefully like it was my car) and worst part, while doing this all the car doors were unlocked so anyone who climbed the fence could have stolen from any car. Never again will i ever do long-term parking.
New Hampton is 85 miles northwest and has limited transit access. An Uber would have cost $200 minimum before tip so you're looking at an Uber for more money than the rate for parking at the official JFK long-term lot or what she did which was driving down to a less savory lot herself. The REAL shame is that this person didn't drive east over the hudson and take Metro North the rest of the way. Parking at Amtrak outside of New York is so much cheaper than even the economy lots.
But she supposedly ubered back home because when she went to pick up her car her battery was dead......... I'm sorry but this woman is an idiot. You don't tow a car for a dead battery. You get the battery jump started and then drive home. Or you could even get a mobile mechanic to bring you a new battery and install it there for cheaper than ubering back to New Hampton would be. Obviously she didn't care about spending the money on the Uber home afterwards. Something tells me she makes a lot of bad decisions. She should have either parked in a legitimate lot not some dirt patch with a chain link fence, or gotten a ride or an Uber to and from the airport instead........ If you're going to roll the dice and try to save a couple dollars by parking in the dirt lot with the chain link fence you have to assume you're taking a risk.
My father bought a GMC pickup. A year later Toll Violations were arriving. One of the Dealership personnel was making duplicates and selling them to people. The photos were across NJ. Different vehicles. I don't know how he got them to stop. The Owner of the dealership terminated the employee. And more than likely had the police arrest him. As my father wasn't the only one they did it to.
Seize the property after a 3rd violation I really have no sympathy for anyone who is dumb enough to leave not only their vehicle in lots like these but also the keys. Who does that????? I am NEVER leaving my keys with anyone i dont know very very well.
I live 45 minutes from the New Orleans airport. I have discovered that it's a whole lot cheaper to take a bus to the airport than parking at or near it. The city charges a 20% tax to park within the city of Kenner (the New Orleans airport is not in New Orleans, yes it's very misleading to people not from here). A bus ticket is $20 and the truck stop where the bus station is let's you park there for free, you just have to tell them. I take an Uber back home for $50-70. I used to work in different states and would leave my car at the airport for weeks at a time, you learn trial and error over time, even though I got reimbursed for parking through work, I felt ripped off, especially with taxes and starting parking at the Hilton down the road and they'd shuttle me to my gate.
Leave it to NY to allow the operation of unlicensed businesses. Shutting them down is not an option available to us, that's just pathetic. They might shut down a good democrat voter by accident.
That's wild, I would never let some random parking lot company have my keys. I'll park my own car and you don't need to move it once it's in the spot. But of course I wouldn't park in some random parking lot if I were going on a trip, I'd either park in the official airport lot, take an Uber or have a friend/family member drop me off and pick me up.
There is no way I’d look at that parking lot and leave my car there, I would have done some research prior to choosing a parking lot😮On top of unlawfully driving the customers cars does anyone think these guys are careful so that your car doesn’t get scratched or banged up by parking the cars so close together?😅😂
Man when I saw the government official a woman, I knew she was going to cite some BS excuse. And surprise surprise, she did. This is an example of a bloated government division with a DEI hire.

Something happened to me, my car was driven 150 miles while I was away in India. This parking garage is a fraud, DO NOT PARK YOUR CAR in this parking 🅿️ garage.
By the look of that parking lot ain’t no way in hell I would leave my car there
I leave my car at home and take a taxi, no way I’m leaving my car at those parking lots 👍
Take them to court And she should make them pay the cost.

The victims need to file a complaint with the police to let them investigate and file criminal charges against the party or parties responsible.

Getting uber from/ to her house instead of long term parking wasnt an option?

"I tried calling him earlier and he didn't pick up the phone"
"Ohhh."
Great business card he had there
You deal with these shady a** places what the hell you are surprise that’s your on fault
"You are surprise"?
Usually, shady parking lots are cheap.I use Uber, and never leave your car at the shady long-term parking lot.
Never use a business with exclusive Bipoc workers
It’s cheaper but you pay in other ways. I parked at the airport and took my keys. Pay more but peice of mind. 😊
JFK doesn’t have long term parking lots owned by Port Authority NY/NJ?
They do, but the 3rd party lots are cheaper.
It’s like $40/day. Why I didn’t fly out of a NYC airport
Remove battery post
Who the heck would trust leaving their car there?

Driving from JFK to NJ isn’t necessarily a joy ride.
Driving her car off the lot without the owner's permission is the definition of a joy ride.
@@waterbottle4782 it was a joke. There's no joy in riding from JFK to NJ.

Don't go there ever
These people are probably extorting customers too
My girlfriend WAS in nyc visiting me BUT got a ticket on her car in HOUSTON, TX . . . . . A place she has never been to
Nope. Either park in Long Term Parking at JFK or take an Uber.

Sue ways, and sue the lot
perhaps if there were more than a dont do it again and some real prison time the scammers would stop.
Why the hell do people use these lots, just take a damn uber to the airport. It’s cheaper than parking your car at a long term lot lmao
