- Looking for a set of casual, comfortable motorcycle shoes or boots? Check out the Alpinestars CR-X DS (Drystar) Shoe, this is a waterproof laced sneaker style motorcycle shoe, with a rigid sole, limited protection, and shift panel.
While not a sport-style boot, the CR-X Drystar shoe is an ideal commuter shoe, with a grippy sole and is easy to put on and off, with a cool lace system. Being waterproof is also a benefit although that'll rely on a set of waterproof pants to take full advantage of.
If you are looking for a boot for getting a knee down, these aren't for you, and I'd recommend a full leather boot with replaceable sliders.

Picked up a set today and came back to your video to see what you did with the laces. I've currently got wound mine around the release mechanism. I'll see how they go the way you have them around the strap. Happy riding mate 😎
For me , wore them for 1 year on a suzuki bandit 600 . They basically tore apart , when rain hits they are not waterproof , at least for me water got in very easily until they were soaking wet and took multiple days in the sun to dry
SUPER comfortable ! and in black they look just as winter boots , they are cool but not so good for the price .
Also , mine ripped at the achiles tendon at the same time . Velcro looses the grip after a couple rain rides , so make your choise. For city , casual , very good. For more than that.. ill look somewhere else
I've been pretty happy, but mine are getting mainly commuter use. The only time the water has gotten through was when it rained hard and I didn't have waterproof pants on, so it wasn't a waterproofing issue as far as I can tell. I'm hoping I get longer than that out of mine though, as they weren't a cheap set of motorcycling shoes.
@@MotoJournoKris sure hope so! I sent mine in warranty a day ago and I will see what Alpinestars has to say . They were seeing a lot of commuter KM's.
@@veniamincatalin7789please post the update!
I would have personally went with a shoe with at least reinforced heel and toe area. It sure beats wearing a typical race boot
I reckon that's what I'll try and buy next time, a step up in protection over these but hopefully still very comfortable on and off the bike.
Picked up a "like new" pair in the color I wanted (red) to go with my helmet and Husqvarna TE310. Satisfied so far. I did wonder what to do with the laces. I have MX boots for heavier riding.
Laces do feel like they could be a fair bit shorter.
Been rocking these for a more than a year, comfortable, rigid sole is great on the pegs. Toe is hard enough so your toes don’t get sore on the shifter, (yeah I have been know to run sneakers). Extremely robust so far. Still look brand new and have worn them servicing my bike. Interesting way of fixing the laces you have there, I run them around the inside of the ankle and fix them with the Velcro.
I'm really impressed, been wearing them even off the bike they are so good. Hadn't thought of that for the lace! I just had them looped under the Velcro strap at first.
Yeah very comfortable. Great to get where your going, jump off, and not feel odd like when wearing a traditional road boot as you go about your business.
Also, while no where near as protective as a proper boot, they are a big step up from something not for purpose. Yeah the lace is exactly that length so I would hazard a guess that’s how it’s done. Tho whatever works. Cheers, thanks for the vid and comment.
@@Pointyish Exactly. It's nice not to be clomping around in motorcycle boots off the bike, and definitely better than just wearing sneakers and hoping for the best.
R they really waterproof?
Have had a pair of these for about 12 months, and they're fine until the laces break (and they will). I literally can't find any laces to replace them. The eyelets are so thin that the laces are really hard to replace. Alpinestars customer service is next to useless too. Haven't responded to any of my questions regarding how the hell to replace the laces.
That's not good, where did they break or wear on the lace? Will have to keep an eye out for that.
Yeah they’re nice looking
Just got these. Thanks for the tip with the laces.
Fkn laces are absurd.
I'd say better than velcro flaps (especially from the perspective of a tight fit), but not as good as proper buckles. However I haven't had to replace them, which could be a drama if needed.
Should be able to find them if you look for bungee cord laces
There are far better boots that run this high up the leg on the market. I can't see the point of these.
Yep, only a moron would wear these on a bike
I just wanted something casual, so these did the trick. I still have my Xpd XP3-S boots for more serious rides. Replacing those will be much more costly.
