alas his sculpture is peculiarly lifeless despite the bow to the classical .... there is no song to be heard... seen? the vernacular of the classical devoid of its poetry....
Thanks for your comment but please bear in mind that Queen Elizabeth II placed Mr. Stoddart in her Royal Court as Sculptor in Ordinary in Scotland, a lifelong position, because his work is so accomplished and beautiful. Perhaps you also weren't aware that Mr. Stoddard's sculpture stands in some of the most prestigious collections and public spaces, among them are The Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace, The Royal Mile, Notre Dame University and many more. He is commissioned by the best traditional architects and patrons, all of whom understand the classical order and work with Mr. Stoddart because his work is so well executed and fitting for their projects. To each their own, but we appreciate the aims and purposes of Classical and Neo-classical sculpture and design, and find Mr. Stoddart's work far from lifeless and devoid of poetry.
Catholic Art Guild no not “to each his own “. by such a definition everything becomes art and nothing is art ...the cold hard fact ...true classical art is not devoid of soul as this work is and as to the canon of classical art it is a stiff lifeless copy
@@merryarttoonesakamarysusan559 Thanks for your opinion, but we don't share it. We agree with the many erudite patrons, architects, classical institutions, and monarchs, who rightly praise Mr. Stoddart's work. We believe it's beautiful, serene, and strikes the right balance for Catholic subject matter. Please see his Annunciation bas relief for example. If you disagree, you have that right and said another way "to each his own".
Stoddard i could listen to all night.

Absolutely hilarious if not tragic to note the irony in the critique of his sculpture being LIFELESS - did you not hear what he said?
A tennis player once said “ are you serious?”
