The current date is 18th August 2024.
That 9oz bottle of HP would be worth exactly £1 at the rate of inflation. However, TODAY's Tesco is selling the 285g bottle (which is actually 10oz) for exactly £2. If prices had stayed the same with inflation, that 285g bottle today should be worth £1.11.
And yet, people wonder why food bank usage has skyrocketed, and some people are going without basic needs?

Meanwhile, in the midst of the 2023 Cost Of Living Crisis, checking-out at at Tesco rival Aldi, I pay just £0.27 for a can of beans! ... That's just 9-and-a-half pence more than 41 years ago! 👍🤣

Terrible naff music, awful products, stupid imperial measurements. Who would want to eat "Bartlett pear halves in syrup"? Yuck! Those beans weren't cheap at all!
