I have a Mk7.5 1.0 TSI DSG, the car is a ton of fun to drive and feels quicker than it really is. Handles like a dream too very planted (17" wheels, factory sport suspension). Way too much fun for a daily driver.

@@andersnielsen6044 with all the new small turbocharged engines, DSG definitely is the way to go because you dont fall into the turbo-lag after each upshift. those things are indeed surprisingly quick then.

The real question is... what else do you need? I have this engine in my Octavia with 115hp and coupled to a DSG7. The DSG is a bit clunky on the downshift, which is starting to annoy me a bit but overall, great drivetrain. I don't want anything else (except for the clunkyness to go away :) ). Anyone knows what might be causing this?

There is another person who does not take a single flight a year. Who saves more on CO2 emissions and can drive 2.0 and still be as eco-friendly? Of course if flights are prohibited and everyone drives 1.0 its OK, but it is far from it. Let's not talk about chimneys in China, Poland etc.

I don't understand why people kept praising this engine.... it suffers lots of the same problems plagued with 3 cylinder turbo engines.... the low end torque is pretty non-existed before 2000rpm which makes hill climbing in Austria, Northern Italy & Spain, very painful, sometimes the small hilly towns in Spain would require a downshift from 2nd to 1st, and the gear ratio was so poorly designed that when were in 2nd gear, it runs at 1800rpm which will NOT have enough torque to climb up the hill and you have to downshift to 1st, but 1st gear ratio is a bit too wide, which will instant shoot up to 4000rpm and causing car jerking motions.

I don't think anyone is "praising" this engine. If you want torque, why would you buy a 1.0L 3cyl over something with an inline 6. Japan has perfected the 3cyl turbo and they've been implementing them in Keijidosha for years very successfully. They've been less popular in other markets, so some European manufacturers are trying to take advantage of this lack of presence from Japan and are copying what they do best. Although the layout doesn't make much sense from a physics perspective, in recent years, the disadvantages of 3 cylinders have mostly been eradicated, and the advantages are very popular currently. The point isn't to buy this car get up steep hills with ease in second gear, the point is to lessen your impact on the environment, spend less, decrease bonnet space, be more economical, be lightweight, etc. It's a grocery getter. If your car is jerking when you downshift, maybe you should improve your rev matching and clutch control.
