This is the Full Pilot Theme of Miami Vice as seen on 1984. It is really hard to find so I mixed Crockett's first appearance on MV with full music. Enjoy it!

Miami Vice like The Twilight Zone in the 1960's, All in The Family in the 1970's, Seinfeld in the 1990's and The Sopranos in the 2000's defined the 1980's era as well as influenced not just television but the culture.
... in particular, watch the episode - The Prodigal Son. It's a clinic on how to direct, edit and use music in movies or TV shows. It was directed by Paul Michael Glazer, the "Starsky" half of the famous 1970s TV cop duo, Starsky and Hutch.

Proper banging iconic theme track to a brilliant TV series Miami vice was awesome 1984 1991 this was ground breaking cop drama Don Johnson Philip Micheal Thomas Crockett + tubbs the cool dressed good guys the cars weather women and future stars were in this series !! The music was fantastic old + then new songs in episodes this was must see from Michael Mann !!!
The first shot of Sonny is fantastic .. with the camera slowly moving upwards Don Johnsons body showing clothes, Rolex President and sunglasses. There could not be a better opening after the intro theme. Intro is interesting: nature cut, animals cut, humans cut, cars cut, boats cut, buildings cut .. repeat everything is in motion ... not as lame as the rest of the 80s shows at that time... just fresh and new. First time a TV show was combined with MTV and pop music and only Miami Vice did it right. First show that criticized capitalism, US foreign policy and the US justice system ... but most people did not recongnize that at all. Thx for the upload!!!

The essence of Miami Vice only belongs to Don and Phillip, and it will die with them. Obviously, Don is the man for MV, a real symbol of 80s greatness. No one can be good enough to play his role, that makes him nice and unique.

Fun Fact - Depending on what region you were in, this series was broadcasted "In Stereo" and can see that logo at the bottom corner of the t.v. screen saying so. This was a first because it was in 1984 when the networks started broadcasting in stereo.
People in the 80s had a phylosophical vision of progress, however, things have changed. Now you rarely watch a TV series with deep plot or sense. That's why people like you or me will never let the 80s die in our hearts. Sadly, the mindset of these recent generations(not all the people, but most of them) really love to watch garbage in TV or the net. I hope to see a new generation with great expectations, as we, the 80s people, did in the right time.

Low ratings, and NBC did not want to shell out any more money to the show, and DJ wanted to leave.
The show lived and died in the 80's! The show would have had a totally different feel if it had continued into the 90's. It was probably for the best.
