I remember being so hyped on that weekend in 2014 with all the potential upsets in round 1. I will maintain that was by far the greatest first round of nba playoffs ever, I mean 5 different Game 7s in one weekend, loads of close games and overtimes not to mention Dame’s first walk off buzzer beater to take Portland to their first semifinals appearance practically since the turn of the millennium.
I remember that year vividly, that was a great year overall. Heck it had that weird Game 1 of the Finals where the air conditioning system at the AT&T Center in San Antonio wasn’t working properly and it led to Lebron James getting cramps. Many people at the time thought he was faking it but I bet you anything they wouldn’t have said that if they were in that situation in any setting, let alone an NBA Finals atmosphere. I remember Vince Carter’s buzzer beater against the Spurs in Game 3 as well and that Grizzlies-Thunder series where 3 of the games went into overtime.
Going into the 2024 playoffs, there have been 148 Game 7s in the entire history of the NBA. It’s crazy how many of them there have been around since 2000 when you mentioned that. There’s been 6 of those that went into overtime, one into double overtime, and the road team has won 37 times. Every single active team has played in a Game 7 as well.
Thank you for finally saying the basketball in the bubble was peak. Everyone is trying to rewrite history because the Lakers/LeBron won it. The quality of the games was out of this world!
Correction on the vid, the Kings have a title from 1951 when they were the Rochester Royals, they also have a unrecognized title from 1946 in the NBL at the time, (Pistons and Lakers have unrecognized titles as well)
LeBron is Mr. Game 7 ! He's 6-0 in his last six game 7s, putting up 36-10-7 , 2 of them were in the Finals , 3 were in the ECF , his only losses were in 2006 against Detroit in his 2nd ever playoff series and 2008 against Boston where he put up 45 and almost took them down
@@sandiegochargersnotlacharg7459 There's no more pressure than a game 7 lol , having that resume in game 7s is a very good thing , there is no bigger game than game 7 of the Finals which he's 2-0

16:01 Actually Yes we have. Fairly recently too In 2022, the suns and bucks both were in game sevens against the mavericks and celtics. The bucks (understandably) got blown out due to not having Khris Middleton who was injured. The suns on the other hand suffered possibly the most embarrassing elimination in nba history
Dom please make vídeo series of videos like the bulls vs Celtics one abt the best series ever that was my favourite video series of yours and there are plenty great series out there people have forgotten
Dom, you can’t tell me that Steph’s 50 point game 7 didn’t change history. Sabonis has NEVER lost against AD. Ever. Hear me out when I say this, that would have been a complete Laker revamp and the Kings going to the WCF to get dismantled by Denver, which seems inconsequential, but it completely transforms the way the Lakers look.
I’m saying this as a Lakers fan, if they would’ve faced Sacramento instead of Golden State in the second round then they wouldn’t have beat the Kings. I don’t think I would go that far as to say a revamp but there would be more to be desired. The Lakers definitely overachieved last year and they made history by becoming the 6th team to win a playoff series as a 7-seed (first since 2010 San Antonio Spurs) and the second ever (first since 1987 Seattle SuperSonics) to make a conference finals.
"Sabonis has never lost against AD." Okay. And? That's only in regular season meetings, and that does not mean that Sabonis always outplays AD. The playoffs are a different story.
That was quite a series to watch and one player on the Bucks who was highly underrated on that team was Michael Redd. Heck it took Milwaukee another 9 years to win a playoff series which it took them overall 18 years to win one after that 2001 Eastern Conference Finals appearance.
@@lakerskid2013 Michael Redd and Andrew Bogut were injured that series. And yet it was by definition the closest the bucks got out of the first round in nearly a decade. Brandon Jennings was leading the team that series
6:06 The 2003 Kings were even better than the 2002 squad, and if Chris Webber didnt get hurt in that series (which wasnt mentioned for some reason), then they would have easily disposed of San Antonio. The 2003 spurs were just a bunch of role players getting carried by Duncan and no where near the 2007 and 2014 squad we associate them with.
How? The Celtics didn't have either of their stars. They, along with the Bucks, the Pacers, and the Sixers, were mostly young and inexperienced. Very few people believed in the Raptors. It still would have been interesting, but seeing those young teams try to knock him and the Cavs off, even at their weakest, added more intrigue.

30:29 Thank you! I also recommend Celtics vs. Raptors from the bubble, Blazers vs. Nuggets (2019), Bucks vs. Nets (2021), Celtics vs. Heat (2022), Warriors vs. Kings (2023), Heat vs. Celtics (2023), Knicks vs. Sixers (2024), and Timberwolves vs. Nuggets (2024).
Dom I know you are a Celtics fan but I doubt the Heat would’ve disappointed or have even been as embarrassed as the Celtics were in the finals. That was the Heats chance to win
The ‘01 Bucks were actually a better matchup against the Lakers than the Sixers were. Those Bucks had done well against the Lakers in the regular season, and they had finished with one of the best offenses in the league. Would they have beaten the Lakers, probably not, but a balanced Bucks team would’ve put up a better fight than a Sixers being carried by MVP AI.
Kobe vs. A.I. was more profitable than Kobe vs. Ray Allen. Idkw the league doesn't like marketing stars like Ray, who just went out there, played, and just kept it moving.
I will stand on my belief that if Sacramento had beaten the Warriors in 23 they wouldve made it to the conference finals considering their record against the lakers and played the nuggets to at least 6
Fair. However, facing the Lakers in a playoff series was going to be much different than facing them in regular season matchups. Look at the Suns vs. Timberwolves this year. The Suns had their number during the regular season, but come playoff time, the Wolves proved that the Suns were not truly built to beat them when it counted.
that pacers hawks series pretty much ended roy hibbert's career he's kinda lucky nba twitter was in its infancy because i can't even imagine how much he wouldve got cooked if that shit happened today
That is WAY too much to think about, but for the involved parties: KD/Russ: They would have beaten one of the greatest teams of all time to reach their 2nd Finals, that time without Harden. Depending on whether they win or lose the Finals, KD probably either stays in OKC or still leaves for another team besides the Warriors. Steph/Klay/Draymond: They would've been confirmed as frauds in the eyes of many. Failing to return to the Finals after breaking an all-time record and Steph becoming the first unanimous MVP on top of the skepticism around their championship the year prior.
I know the chances of it happening was 0 but can you imagine if Boston somehow beat the Heat And thunder in 2012 that would have been so out of nowhere 😂😂😂
