But at the school I went to, there were plenty of great teachers and I would’ve jumped at a chance like this to save money every now and then. Also, there are usually programs on campus if you can’t afford basic necessities

it’s actually quite common in schools! freshman at my campus are encouraged to ask their professors or ta’s to lunch to get to know them better lol

she also goes to duke! duke has a program called “flunch” aka faculty lunch which every semester or so a prof has a one on one lunch with a student for extra guidance or just more colloquial conversation so it might’ve been that. also just creates a more casual environment so getting lunch outside of flunch might be normal!
