  • A preliminary experiment with the new BOSS FS-1-WL.
This new wireless foot switch will control loads of BOSS gear, but how about automating a song and having a setlist app like onsong or Bandmanger turn effects on and off in time to your backing tracks.
    Yeah you can do this!
Super simple footswitch that I’ve tapped into midi channel 1 to use OnSong as a means of automating activating various effects and stepping through the 6 built in presets.
The FS1 is connected as normal to the Katana Air on the instrument channel. The blue channel is tied to OnSong.
Midi embedded in sticky notes send the same Cc’s over to the FS1 which appears to be communicating to the Kat Air over sysex.
As the FS1 is sooo freaking small and I don’t always have an aux switch handy. OnSong here is mapping all 5 switches onscreen.
Either the screen or the switch can make changes . Really cool!
All working fairly well, though I do note using the reverb & delay 2 in conjunction throws up an error in the display led for reverb.
If you design a patch with just reverb it is all good,
Throw in the second delay and the toggle shuts the effect off but the delay 2 looks still open.
Turning the reverb knob to zero also clears this but maybe something to troubleshoot ?
Can anybody confirm similar findings ?

My band often plays to drum tracks, and I work the media player on my phone with this footswitch.

Boss erase my comments but I’ll keep posting These devices are advertised as "Fully customizable", and it is not true, they are Locked for CC#'s 32-63 and 95-127.
Your support answer was: Unfortunately, the FS-1-WL can not transit CC#'s 32-63 and 95-127,

Yeah there are for sure those holes in the midi cc, I dunno why this is either. For me this controller is extremely limited, it would appear by design to be done this way. I'd recommend another one unless you're really stuck.
