When Tank Abbott first fought in the UFC he came out as a "PIT FIGHTER", One of the scariest guys to ever fight in the octagon!!! He's 100% LEGITIMATE!!!
Tank has become surprisingly humble. But he still doesn't admit that WCW management told him that Haku was their backup plan in case Tank decided to shoot on his opponents in WCW
When it comes to REAL tough guys you always hear the stories from others, NEVER from themselves. Which is the case with Haku. None of us can prove anything but i am sure Haku is exactly what all the wrestling guys say he is.. that being said the Steiners were fucking crazy. Those Germanic guys from the great lakes area don't mess around much like Rick Rude, Mr. Perfect, etc. Tough environments breeds tough people.
Tough how? Steiner was jacked because of steroids, same with Rude and the others. Yea they could fight but take away the steroids and things might be different. Its easy to be tough at 6'4 and all juiced up. So they lose some credit with me.
TANK WAS A PURE STREET FIGHTER. WOULD HAVE BEEN DOMINANT IN TOUGH MAN CONTESTS. BACK IN THE BEGINNING OF UFC , FIGHTS WERE ENTERTAINING. WINNING A TOURNAMENT IN ONE NIGHT, AMAZING! TANK WAS VERY ENTERTAINING. AS MORE SKILLED MMA GUYS SHOWED UP, IT BECAME TOUGHER FOR TANK TO WIN. 👊👊👊
Tank's fights were always entertaining. He would fight anybody, win or lose, on 3 days notice. He didn't care. Lol...He would have been a much more serious contender if he had trained hard and took care of himself. He was crazy strong, and quick for a big dude. I hope he is doing well.
Yeah, that is what people do not seem to realize; he was just a straight up talented brawler. If Tank would have took extensive training then he would have been damn near unbeatable.
Agree 100%. Agreeing to show up on little notice, when he hadn't been training and was 30lbs overweight, hurt his career. Maybe not his reputation, but his chances of being a champion. Tank had legitimate punching power, wrestling skills, and was as tough as anyone who ever went into MMA.
Rick Steiner along with Tank Abbott are in no condition to fight anyone anymore, Rick has been off the juice for pretty much a decade or more and Abbott is nursing a liver transplant, kind of speaks volumes how these two abused themselves when they were younger.
Sad to see but just look at Tank. He couldn't whip cream at this point. I honestly think either Steiner would have beat Tank back in the day. Tanks wrestling and takedown defense was the shits. He had ok boxing for mma at the time,he was powerful tho and had lead in his hands for sure. The only way tank could win is if he land a shot and keep it on the feet . With no other training at all I see elite wrestling winning that fight Everytime. I'll gladly eat these words if anyone can name Tank beating an elite wrestler, I can't think of any . Not to mention his record was 10 wins 15 losses. He was fun to watch but a great fighter he was not.
@P C So, this is really not a knowledgeable comment given the current climate. Please provide examples of who you deem to be "high-level amateur wrestlers" and their being caught using steroids. You cannot name any Olympians, certainly not from the US, just to give you a heads up. Second, NCAA athletes are also tested, specifically if/when they advance in their divisions' national tournaments. While it is not beyond the realm of plausibility that Rick and Scott Steiner, who both wrestled for Michigan although definitely were not "stars", used steroids during their collegiate careers, the idea that steroids are prevalent throughout the world of actual real wrestling couldn't be further from the truth.
With all of the tough guy talk Tank Abbot spits out, you know its not idle talk. A lot of guys talk tough but Tank is one of those guys, and I'm not only speaking of UFC fights, that you really have to be weary of getting into a confrontation with
If it was a shoot I do know Rick was an accomplished enough college wrestler to probably handle himself with some training but tank had trained specifically to fight after he left college wrestler and rick had trained for pro wrestling after he left college wrestling so I'd back tank. I think it was a work and they're both just going with it.

Tank knocked John Matua almost into a coma in one of the early UFC events. Matua was a 400 lb Samoan beast trained in martial arts. Haku would have suffered the same type of fate fighting Tank back then.

It doesn't matter how trained you are in wrestling, jiu jitsu, kickboxing muay thai or boxing... if you are fighting Haku then you are fighting someone who is TRYING TO KILL YOU. It is a FIGHT TO THE DEATH when Haku fights, he is a tribal human... He was trained in tribal warfare tactics ON TOP OF sumo, wrestling, and kickboxing. THATS WHY people talk about the stories of him immediately ripping the guys nose off with his teeth, or gouging the other guys eyes out with his three fingers. or trying to ripe open the marines throat after he had already knocked down/out 2 of them. WHY do you think he was able to literally just eat the MACE SPRAY from the police like its nothing? he just screamed and kept fighting it didn't effect him much.. SO THINK ABOUT IT.. Haku was not only just a TRIBAL BEAST trained in SAVAGE TACTICS (KILL TACTICS, SURVIVAL TACTICS) BUT ON TOP OF THAT HE WAS TRAINED IN SUMO AND WRESTLING AS WELL AS KICKBOXING (VERY GOOD AND AGILE KICKER).. HE WAS LITERALLY A TRIBAL FUCKIN SAVAGE THAT WAS TRAINED IN THE LEGIT COMBAT SKILLS AS WELL. TODAYS MMA FIGHTERS WOULD BE CRYING WITHOUT AN EYE OR THEIR THROAT RIPPED OUT. PERIOD. Sonny Onoo, world bantam weight karate champion, said that MMA fighters would stand a chance against Haku only if they had a sharp weapon or a firearm with them. Otherwise he doesn't see how anyone in MMA would survive in a fight with Haku/Meng. The interview is available on UA-cam.
@@jurgonaufalut5696 there are many causes of liver failure you're correct. Tank was a heavy drinker though. Must be nice to be famous. Money and fame talk and everyone else suffers.
Tank was a very powerful puncher and no matter what haters may say he was a damn good fighter (look at his resume), and in a fight against Steiner it would be a good fight but I would probably give the edge to Tank. That being said you could put Tank and Steiner together against Haku and my money would DEFINITELY be on Haku not only winning but sending the both of them to the ICU or the morgue. Tank Abbott notable opponents: Vitor Belfort, Don Frye, Frank Mir, Dan Severn.. hmm, yeah I'd say his resume is just *slightly* more legitimate than Hakus'.. I'd also say that makes him more credible to speak on this topic than most.
That is an excellent point. The only actual person people have identified that Haku as actually fought is Jimmy Jack Funk who was drunk spewing off racial slurs according to reports.
Yeah but he lost to all those guys. If I fought all those guys I’d last couple seconds tops but that gives me a more legitimate resume? Terrible example.
I always liked Tank back in the early days of the UFC but he is no Mixed Martial Artist and if he couldn't knock you out in round 1 he was done for. His actual MMA record sucks 25 total fights 15 losses...sad to see him doing back yard brawls on youtube
Haku is much older than Tank but he still looks like he could kill multiple people with his bare hands and is still wrestling in Japan. Tank looks like he needs help standing up.
Didn't want to cross the line? Lol he got rocked so hard he almost banged his head on the barricade and then he calmed down and backed up. Tank probably hit harder but Rick hit hard ENOUGH and Tank couldn't wrestle his way out of a wet paper bag. Rick probably would have mauled him.
with all respect...i like tank abbott in mma but steiner would destroy him.watch the Video tank was hard in defense and nearly went down...so they split it up.
Yea pro wrestler totally destroys mma fighter for sure man! Use your brain just a little bit nuckle head...jesus christ some of these wrestling stans are hilarious
@@thatdarnmage1515 What you talk about? Whats the difference between a Rick Steiner and A Tank Abbott? I saw normal street people destroy Pro Fighters in Streetfights. You try to say a wrestler NEVER can fight and a MMA fighter ALLWAYS can fight? thats what you try to say? Retard!!
All these arguments immediately break down into 2 categories: MMA people who assert that unless a fighter has been in a cage they cannot possibly win against someone who has, and others who talk about the unpredictability of 'street' fights with no rules. Both arguments have the basic flaw that fighting is too multi-faceted to make guaranteed generalized statements on. And if you fail to recognize this simple fact, then YOU are the mark, because you are trying to say an opinion is a fact.
Everything about Haku is word of mouth and wrestlers have definatley been known to exaggerate things. Bart Gunn KTFO all the other wrestlers then he fought Butterbean who lets be honest was not even a top 100 Heavyweight and he got brutally knocked unconcious in like 5 seconds. I don't doubt Haku was a tough guy but any elite level professional fighter would hand him his ass in double quick time, FACTS.
I don't think that's true. Yeah it would not be as easy as some drunk at a bar, but some people can fight and are naturally aggressive, where as some pro fighters are not. What's the pro fighter going to start doing when Haku starts biting his finger off, or poking his eye out, they all have a hissy fit when they get a little finger poke in the eye or a kick in the nut sack and this time there will be no ref to intervene!
@@herc20000 Again, I don't think you understand the difference in levels we are talking about here, an elite level pro boxer would knock Haku out with a single punch and the handspeed and reflex difference would be insane, so if the fighter knows he's in a fight then haku is going down, Haku might have a chance if he blindsides the guy. Now most pro fighters don't go around fighting in bars because they don't feel the need to prove their toughness like a lot of wrestlers do. Also please don't insult professional fighters with terms like "hissy fit" those guys actually risk their lives in the ring every time they fight, and I didn't see evander holyfield throw a "hisy fit" when mike tyson bit his ear off, he told the ref to NOT dq tyson as he wanted to beat him up for it.
Not on the streets and not any elite level professional fighter. Tank did damage on ufc who is just a brawler. Haku a psycho on the streets I wouldn't underestimate him buddy. Him and the barbarian a monster at the very least.
Alex Hedges tank is a brawler or was a brawler. Aging took the best of him but you are correct he is not an elite fighter. In the octagon he lost bog time. But 2 different things street fighting and octagon. Tank vs kimbo with tank on his prime would of been a better match. Not saying Kimbo would lose though.
Rick Steiner didn't think twice about punching Tank and he almost knocked him down. Ric Steiner has openly admitted that he wouldn't mess with Haku. That kind of sums it up. As Arn Anderson and Goldberg have said, Haku was in a different league than anyone else period.
And what do any of those guys know about real fighting (apart from drunken bar brawls)? Haku would have ended up like another even bigger, fatter islander who fought Tank and got KO'd so bad his name became a verb amongst fight fans - Matua'd
Lol… well I agree with him that there’s a difference between talking tough and an mma fight, just like there’s an even bigger difference between mma (even back then - let alone now) and no-rules, bite and tear bodyparts off street brawling. But actually, My guess is, tank hasn’t even heard haku stories.
I have hear haku is tough but never ever seen him fight really ????????????????????? You think somebody would have tested him and lived to talk about it
Haku was by all accounts a force to be reckoned with when he got angry but every story I hear about him entails some drunk fucko at a bar. He didn't fight trained fighters. I see people even argue that he'd take Brock Lesnar in a fight which just blows my mind. Do yall still believe in Santa too?
Jim Cornett had the best answer. It depends on what kind of fight. MMA Brock would win. Street fight Haku/Meng would pluck Brock's eyball out or something else gruesome.
Tank on of my favorites back in day. Also was great in WCW . He was so funny with 3 count . As for Rick Steiner back then . Steiner probably would of took him down . Then now hell Steiner still in good shape. Meng n street fight would of took Tank. Dude is a monster

"Could" being the key word there! The UFC of the old is vastly different than the UFC today; today you need to be well rounded in order to be successful, and win. Back when it first came on the scene that wasn't a requirement. Could Tank make it in today's UFC, we'll never know, he was already on the decline by then. All you have to do is fight anyone and other wrestlers know about it and you automatically are believed to be one of the scariest in the world i their mind. Because 95% won’t and never have fought. Haku didn’t show any fighting ability in his fee incidents and didn’t do it against anyone of credibility fighting ability. But he has something and other wrestlers have nothing so he becomes mike Tyson in their eyes by default and they can’t see it. The Steiner thing was just scripted. ITS CAUSE AS A TRIBAL WARRIOR HE WAS TORTURED DURING HIS TRAINING....IN ORDER TO FEEL LESS PAIN. They literally cut open and slice each other up, so as to get used to cuts and nerve pain. PERIOD. THE ONLY THING THAT CAN BE MORE SAVAGE THAN A FUCKING SAMOAN IS A FUCKING TONGAN.... LESNAR WOULD CRY AGAINST HAKU, MIOCIC WILDER FURY WOULD ALL CRYYYY AGAINST HAKU THEY WOULD NOT KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH ANY OF THAT.... IMMEDIATELY AND THAT HE FEARS HIM AND DOESNT WANNA FIGHT HIM EVER. THE BOTTOM LINE ALWAYS WAS.... YOU DONT WANNA FIGHT A GUY THAT WANTS TO KILL YOU AND RIP YOUR FEATURES OFF YOUR FACE AND IS TRAINED TO DO SO. Tank wasn't "fighting" and he got caught with a punch.
That is an excellent point. The only actual person people have identified that Haku as actually fought is Jimmy Jack Funk who was drunk spewing off racial slurs according to reports.

Naaaaailed it
Tank Steiner almost dropped you. You know you’re beatable

"Could" being the key word there! The UFC of the old is vastly different than the UFC today; today you need to be well rounded in order to be successful, and win. Back when it first came on the scene that wasn't a requirement. Could Tank make it in today's UFC, we'll never know, he was already on the decline by then. Later on I think Vordell attacked Steiner somehow unexpectedly...and 2 punches in the face when you do not expect it, take out anyone. That’s how he always is. That’s what real fighters do. If you are confident and not scared. Why would you think or say anything different? In this case he was right. Pro wrestling fans skinner on shamus nuts over meaningless incidents. No one in wrestling fights and when one does happen it against another non fighter with unknown credibility. All you have to do is fight anyone and other wrestlers know about it and you automatically are believed to be one of the scariest in the world i their mind. Because 95% won’t and never have fought. You go to the front of the line. Being the toughest in that circle doesn’t mean much outside of the circle. Fans can’t understand that. Haku didn’t show any fighting ability in his fee incidents and didn’t do it against anyone of credibility fighting ability. But he has something and other wrestlers have nothing so he becomes mike Tyson in their eyes by default and they can’t see it. The Steiner thing was just scripted. Tank isn’t trying to hit him because he wants a contract. Rick is trying to sell it and works harder. Ricks punches were unnatural, slow, and telegraphed. He isn’t a fighter or a puncher but he can hit harder than he was throwing. But he didn’t want to cross the line with Tank either. If Tank counters his telegraphed slow lead right hand and stretches Rick out in front of everyone. Tank would never have got a contract. He would have ruined the imagine of one of their stars. He isn’t stupid. Anyone thinking they were really fighting and not scripted light sparring is delusional.
