Thanks for shining a post hurricane spotlight on Waynesville. My wife and I owned the Herren House Bed and Breakfast (one block from Main Street) from 2005 to 2010, and absolutely fell in love with this quaint and charming town. Our business depended upon a thriving main street and it makes us happy knowing that it has bounced back. You should chat with Rick and Carolyn who own the Oak Park Inn on Main Street. They provided housing to a lot of displaced homeowners and can give a good perspective on the post storm scene.
Now I want some chocolate! There's a Kilwins near me in Black Mountain too. I think I'll head there now. I do agree with you about the way the aftermath of Helene has caused us to care more about each other and build more of a sense of community. It's been a sobering lesson, but an important one.
We were visiting Morganton the day that Helene hit, obviously we did not get a chance to see anything. We are looking at retiring somewhere in Western NC and had come to check the area out. Hickory/Morganton/Marion/Waynesville are the places we were considering. We are now going to wait until spring to make the trip again. Any feedback about the three spots east of you would be appreciated.
Well ladies, I will not be buying a used car from down south ! I have sent funds to the United Way, the Red Cross and trying to support western NC and Eastern Tenn where my kin are located! I do not have enough money to share, but I think of all the money spint for Political adds these days could have be better served to feed and take care of the needy instead of the greedy!

Red Cross just shut down shelters with NO NOTICE! Threatened to call CPS on parents with no homes. Do not support them
