Could never get why people think Aquaman is such a dork. Since I was a kid I've always thought he was one of the coolest in the JLA. The man is the king of the ocean for god sake!
I read this because of your enthousiasm about it. And man, you were not wrong! I always thought Aquaman was a bit of a laughing stock, which is also why i didn't get around to reading a full run of it. But this run by Geoff Johns is amazing. I think this has to be one of my favorite super hero comic runs of all time, it completely changed the way i think about Aquaman. Brilliant!
Aquaman was never lame, it was due to the superfriends cartoons that he got that undeserved reputation. That said, Geoff Johns did one hell of a job with Aquaman, he restored the character bringing it more in line with the origins of Arthur. He also brings out Mera from being a supporting cast character to co-lead. Johns book is mainly about Arthur and Mera front and center.

I love Jason Mamoa and I had a great time watching the movie but I do agree with you. at first (around Batman V Superman filming) it looked like they were going in a darker direction. it seemed like they were also gonna dabble in Polynesian culture. it made total sense since they are very ocean-centric belief systems. the tattoos and surfer bro personality matched perfectly with that idea. what we got, however, was a weird mix of Mamoa himself and New52 comic book Aquaman.
It’s amazing that people are just understanding how great this Aquaman run is now. I feel great because I got this story from day one when the new 52 came out years ago: pat myself on the back lol

Just finished this Omni as well. Wasn’t interested in Aquaman before I read this run, but Geoff John’s completely changed my perception of the character. I might have to read Peter David’s run now.

Good Recent Reads and Review! Waiting on this in the mail. I usually can read anything Gee-Off Johns writes. Always thought Aquaman was good, but nobody wrote him well. Although I like Jason Momoa, the Dude-Bro can grate on the nerves. I loved the New 52 JL and Aquaman really stepped up his game in this and JL (also by Johns). Catching up on my Gempire videos. You sold me. I'm gonna check it out although I never liked The New 52 as a concept. Never was a fan of the Universe resetting thing the big 2 have become fond of over the last few years. Thank you for mentioning the artist/art too. I'm a visual guy so I need decent art or I just can't get into it.
Geoff Johns with Aquaman did the impossible, he remade him, restoring decades of altering the characters, back to the origins. It worked. Aquaman never before reached the heights he did with Johns as writer, Pity it was cut short, had Didio left Johns continuing writing Aquaman, he would have taken him to further heights. It was not just Arthur who Johns made great again, but also Mera she is the breakout character in the book and the driving force of the Royal We.
I love this book! Still waiting for more New 52 runs to get an omnibus. Johns's Justice League deserve some, besides the Darkseid War. Scott Snyder's Batman too!
Ivan Reis does the artwork until Throne of Atlantis and he did the justice League issues.Then another great artist Paul Pelletier took over.You can see some of gis designs from the comic book inthe movie like the big monster and the statue of the seven kingdoms.It is a great book.

I read the aquaman and others trades, they were alright because the old dude that’s part of them is like DCs nick fury. He’s a total badass. I’d skip em unless you’re a die hard aquaman fan since they aren’t even written by Johns. But you can tell he really tried to at least emulate that vibe.
Geoff Johns Aquaman run it was really dope. I think that it was one of the best things that came out of the new 52 that and Wonder Woman , Batman, Green Lantern and one other series that was really good I like how Geoff Johns added that there's actually Seven Kingdoms and is run and also added the trench that was some cold badass monsters. Now his Black Manta handling was it was okay wasn't great I mean I still like Black Manta in this run to an extent when he appeared but I mean it wasn't anything super special I mean I was more enjoying the whole entire trench aspect cuz I thought that was really bringing up something new and adding to the Mythos of Aquaman's story. That not even Aquaman knows everything about the seven seas and he is the king of it there still a lot of stuff he still learning after all this time.

What is an Omnibus Book? Never heard of such a book-type. Is this a collection of all Comics by Geoff Johns? I bought the Artbook of the movie but sent it back because there were so many things that I've missed in it. I hope that this one might be better, although there is no Momoa in it.
love this omnibus, great material and the colors and art is awesome...hated when aquaman got new artists, because it started to look like aquaman constantly swimming through sewers...dull brownish colors...but THIS is the aquaman I prefer and with colors popping right out of the pages.

I am wondering if it is better to collect aquaman, flash, and wonder woman as the small hardcovers or as omnibi. I mostly read lying down with the book propped on my chest, so the omnibus seems a little much. Pros and cons?
