      @GoatVidds sand paper flapper wheel 120 or 100 grit on a bench grinder and a polishing wheel with white jewlers rouge (polishing compound) would not recommend if you don't know what you are doing. The edge is almost flat but a razor blade. Very brittle if done wrong and even if done right they are extremely sharp but don't hold an edge as long. Also, if you’re someone that uses a safety razor more than once- stop it. They’re like $00.10/ea and you’re probably shaving with rust by the second use.

    When I was in Brazil, I had a cheap knife. Walking home one day, I found a flatish looking piece of cement/ concrete in the street.
    When needed, I would hold the rock and run the blade up and down for one side, and then the other, producing some sand and dust from the concrete piece.
    It was cheap, effective and I could functionally use it for onions or other basics in the kitchen for at least 4 days.
    People act so previously about their blades, and that's cool. But don't tell me I should be using my knife to cut plastic when I can sharpen it again in about 30 seconds or less.
    Nowadays I use one of those sharpening stones for chisels that I borrow from work. A bit of kitchen oil, and basically do the same thing as the rock that I had in Brazil.

    • @Kentololable
      @Kentololable Рік тому +1

      @@gideonkablau of course you have no razor burn, any blade would have no burn with the grain. You're also confusing razor burn with shaving irritation; razor burn is the slow-building heat sensation caused by shaving so close you take off a bit of the skin. You don't typically need to shave so agressively on a with the grain pass, hence why you feel very little burn. Irritation on the other hand is caused by dull blades/poor lather. They overlap but those are the main causes.
      Try side-grain, then against. You'll feel more resistance and the infamous Feather burn.

    A couple swipes on raw leather after a diamond stone won’t properly remove the burr for a reading that low. The measurement on the feather blade isn’t right either, should be 30 unused out of the wrapper. Most brands are well documented. 1. Make sure the blade comes down flat on the test media and without and back/forward motion. 2. Most importantly, the speed of the measurement should be slow enough that you can easily watch the numbers rise on the scale. Even a dull knife will display as “razor blade” sharpness when done too quickly. Try a cross/against the fiber push cut on some extra thin rolling papers or an HHT-5, both excellent test to confirm very low readings. The Bess tester can make sure they aren’t appearing sharp from a polished but weak burr as it will mushroom on the test media.

      I mean not actually a pyramid scheme, just a single-level direct sales company. A pyramid scheme means you have to pay a fee or buy products to participate in the company. You aren’t required to do any of that working for Cutco (or most likely Vector Marketing).
      Their business model seems to rely on students fresh out of high school looking for a job and getting a call from vector after being referred by a friend (which if you refer people as an employee you get more benefits). Then you “practice” by actually selling to your friends and family. After that, you refer some of your phone contacts for rewards and likely drop out of vector is sales really isn’t your thing. Once they get another person in to replace you, they market to their family and friends. Kinda genius and seems like it should be shady but it’s definitely no kind of scam/scheme.

      @@yoeyyoey8937 I mean, I get it. It's a reasonable way to show the sharpness of a knife, since it's not easy to cut a single sheet of paper in that way, but it's in no way, shape, or form good for the sharpness of the edge of the knife that he just took the time to sharpen.

    • @theElemDragon
      @theElemDragon Рік тому

      @@jumblejumbo obviously being stupid and trying to cut something like steel pipe or wires would be "worse" to try to cut if you're just being an idiot and intentionally damaging a knife. But if you're somehow implying that cutting paper is no big deal on the sharpness of a knife, I'd say you're the one who has no idea what they're talking about. Hell, it doesn't even have to be a KNIFE edge. Paper is horrible on any cutting surface. Which is why people who do a lot of textile work tend to have scissors they never even think about cutting paper with.
      I mean.... You can technically use a sheet of paper as a polishing-grade of "sandpaper". Why would you want to run a knife THROUGH it?

      @@yoeyyoey8937 funny how mumblejumbo deleted his comment. No, it DOES need to basically be razor sharp to cut a sheet of paper in the way he, and many others demonstrated, so it is a good way to show that. I've even seen videos where people used a cleaver that was so sharp they were able to basically cut a phone book as if they were slicing vegetables. I'm just saying that doing so isn't very good for the now sharp edge because of the properties of paper.
