The midi baby would be FS 4, 5 and 6. The jet micro would be.. what it normally is probably switching between snapshots. One expression(s) not 100% on.. but different level controls... wet/dry, gain.. or maybe just a vol. Anyway... have you looked into the midi baby3? Thoughts? Thanks again!

Hello all you gear heads out there! Here is how I get the ultimate control out of my Hx Stomp without sacrificing any of your opinion. I connect my Meloaudio midi commander via midi cable to Hx Stomp (You can update the firmware of midi commander to include Hx Stomp mode) and then plug double foot switch 4 and 5 directly to the Hx Stomp and then I connect M-Audio expression pedal to the midi commander instead of Hx Stomp. This way on midi commander I have bank up and down, patches A, B, C and 3 snapshots for each preset, tuner switch and bypass switch. Then I have foot switch 1,2,3 on Hx stomp and 4 and 5 on double foot switch which I use them for effects on/off and also an expression pedal all under my foot!! This means that I have all 3 mods (preset mode, snapshot mode and stomp mode) all at once under my foot for the total of 15 foot switches and one expression pedal. I know it may sound complicated but the whole thing is actually half of the footprint of my previous analog pedal board and way lighter and more portable that it.
Hello, old post but I'm curious: I noticed that the HX Stomp firmware for the MIDI Commander has MIDI CC 52 set to footswitch 4/E. This sends the command to the HX Stomp to emulate FS4. So that means having an extra dual footswitch connected directly on the Stomp will not completely maximize its use, because the MIDI Commander's button 4/E will have the same exact function as one of the buttons for your dual footswitch (FS4). Have you found a way to edit the command that is set to button 4/E so that it sends a different CC, e.g. 70 for All Bypass?
@@KenJ79 that’s correct. I have the same issue with duplicated switch but that would be a small price to pay as you get more than enough control under your feet.

Using this same setup, can I control a wah model on the expression pedal and then assign tap tempo and bypass/tuner for each switch on the Dual Footswitch?
Could this setup work on a HX Effects pitch shifter to have a single patch that go an octave down on the expression pedal, then hit the foot switch to make it an octave up instead? Also could it be used to activate additional effects within a single patch?
I haven't tried this, but I know you can't assign multiple switches to the same parameter. But there would be a work around using the "Dual Pitch." Set both to work with the Expression and then assign a Switch to bring up and down the volume of each...does that make sense?
I have an Ernie Ball VPJR that I want to use as an expression pedal, and also another footswitch. Is it possible to do that connection? I read some tutorials to do the connection with the VPJR but all of them uses both cables, so there is no room for the footswitch. Thanks!

CURVEBALL QUESTION - I’m using a similar setup with a single switch. I’ve studied this and other videos. Here’s the weird part - When I set a min and max on my Dunlop Mini (DVP4), the min happens at the 0 position AND the 100% position, and the max happens in the middle at 50%. Inverting swaps that. Any ideas?
So for my understanding point is (and I know this vid is little bit old but still in 2021 even though it is the 2d or 3rd day of 2022 that you read this) the fact that with the tip and ring you can only use fs4 and not 5 or is it the other way around. Because you are emulating the Dunlop mini to FS4 or 5 and when you do you could use one of the 2 that have that with the 2 way switchers?!
One of the things about this video that I cleared up in another video is that I didn't have a single foot switch, so I used a dual in this video, which made it seem misleading. You can only emulated fs4 and fs5 and then your done. SO you can't use a dual AND Expression at the same time.
Awesome, thank you. Quick question: I bought a HeadRush expression pedal with a built in toe switch to toggle between wah & volume (i.e. like PodGo & Helix Floor "treadals" do). However, apparently HXFX will not support this feature/function. I may return the HR pedal however, I was wondering if maybe I could program the HXFX to accept or receive the toe switch for some other latching or momentary function (i.e. switch channels on my external amp, midi command, etc)? Any idea if the toe switch can be assigned to do a second assignment? Hopefully someone can help. Thank you!
You'd need to come out of the pedal via a try split y cable and go into each of the EXP. Then set one of the EXP to adjust both volume and wah. The other set to toggle each effect on and off. When one goes off the other comes on and vice versa...does that help?
that's my bad for making it look like that was possible in this video...I wish I had a single foot switch...but I just used what I had to make the video....and then later realized that it looks like I'm saying you can use a dual switch and expression at the same time...and that's not true. Sorry for the confusion.
Hi, quick Q - can I use the JET micro as well as this TRS split into one switch and EXP? At the moment it seems my footswitch is stuck to FS5 which is the same as the JET B/C - Preset up. I can't seem to change this
Hey man! There's a solution now...here's the details from Jet Pedals Website: "Line 6 has created a midi message for preset scrolling! Now you can take full advantage of the rear expression port to use both an expression pedal as well as an external footswitch while also using the Micro to scroll presets up/down. If purchasing the Micro after 4.24.21 you must update the software on your HX Stomp to 3.11 or later."
@@HeyWorshipLeader Thanks for your reply. Ah ha so there is hope... I will delve into it again and see if I can separate the TRS switch from the JET scroll function.
Hi, Thank you for your Tips for the EXPRESSION. Do you know how to set the Melo Audio EXP-001 Volume Expression on the HX Stomp? Because I don't set it. 😂
I feel like there needs to be a bit more awareness of the fact that BOTH buttons on the "dual" footswitch will NOT work with this setup. Only one button will. You get a ring and a tip...not two of either. If I am mistaken, I would love to be corrected! Otherwise, I'll be trading in my dual switch for a SINGLE switch that I can wire up with ring or tip.
Thanks for the tip! Just a General question I’m trying to make sure if my stump it’s braking or that’s the way HX Stomp works. Sometimes I feel when I don’t press hard enough it doesn’t take the press command specially on first two switches. Anyone else experienced that?
Sorry if this has already been asked, but can that DVP4 function as either a volume or wah depending on what you have it assigned to? In other words, in a patch with a wah block, you simply assign it to that, then in another patch, you assign it to a volume block or channel level(if you wanted to save a block)? I'm thinking it's a yes.
@Hey Worship Leader pretty sure you could do both in 1 preset using 1 button to switch on / off a volume and wah block simultaneously. You may also be able to set up a button to toggle between expression 1 and 2, but have the Dunlop do both expression signals. In that case, you could get more creative. Maybe set up an expression to control the master level of an amp block and another to do the wah. That could save a volume block and give you wah control on 1 preset. Not 100% sure if this would work, but it's something to explore.
Thanks for your videos about expression pedals and the HX Stomp! Helped me a ton, especially your tip about the tip/ring switch inside the Dunlop pedal. I'm still getting into all of this and a bit confused about the TRS/TS cable. In a previous video where you're only using the Dunlop expression pedal, you recommended using a TRS cable. In this video where you are adding the extra footswitch, you're using the Y cable. Are you losing any functionality with the expression pedal when it's just attached to the tip or ring portion of a Y cable instead of a dedicated TRS cable? I may add a footswitch in the future, but already have a Y cable and expression. Do I need TRS in the meantime?
You are correct. In the previous video I didn't fully understand...or at least got confused. You can use a TS cable and just make sure that whatever effect parameter you are assigning to Expression...that you remember which exp (1 or 2) and make sure the global settings are set up correctly. Let's say I only want to do 1 thing...bring up and down gain using expression...I'll go to the "Bypass/Controller Assign" and assign it to EXP 1 (or EXP 2...doesn't matter) and then in my global settings under "Preferences" make sure that "Tip is set to EXP 1" or "Ring is set to EXP 2" then you'll be good to go...if the sweep of the parameter is backwards heel to toe, then go back to "Preferences" and "invert" the Tip or Ring (whichever you are using) Hope that makes better sense
The EXP takes both or either tip and ring, and then you can use either foot switch 4 or 5...but there's only Tip and Ring...so only 2 options...hope that makes sense

I’ll take it
I’m looking for a dual switch for the stomp witch one do you recommend? Mostly, Aux2AE by analogendeavors, rockstock?or any other?
Mosky is the one I have and was only like $20
Hi, quick Q - can I use the JET micro as well as this TRS split into one switch and EXP? At the moment it seems my footswitch is stuck to FS5 which is the same as the JET B/C - Preset up. I can't seem to change this
Hey man! There's a solution now...here's the details from Jet Pedals Website:
"Line 6 has created a midi message for preset scrolling!
I don't have experience with that one...but should be the same. Let me know if you have problems
@@HeyWorshipLeader Yeah!I can do it now! it's working. Thank you for your video.🙏🏻
Why not just get a smaller single switch if you can only ever use one of them when using an expression pedal?
You’re right. I failed to address that in this video but did in a following video
wow dream pedals,expensive pedals!😢
Thanks for the tip! Just a General question I’m trying to make sure if my stump it’s braking or that’s the way HX Stomp works. Sometimes I feel when I don’t press hard enough it doesn’t take the press command specially on first two switches. Anyone else experienced that?
Might be a silly question, but Can that expression slot also be used as a tap tempo along with the dual switch?
No...but you can send a midi message to do tap tempo if you have a midi controller
Thanks!
That's correct!
Great Video: Just wondering do you have any videos or expansion packs for Bass players with the HX Stomp. Thanks
I don't have any directly related to only bass at this time...but maybe soon because more people are asking for them
@@HeyWorshipLeader Thanks I'll stay tuned. 👍🏿👍🏿
1st!❤️
Nice!
how about footswitch 5?
The EXP takes both or either tip and ring, and then you can use either foot switch 4 or 5...but there's only Tip and Ring...so only 2 options...hope that makes sense
