From Rochester, New York, USA. This is one of the best bicycle videos I have seen. I have a 1971 steel Torpado that I restore but no disc brakes. Thank you very much...make more videos like this!
i built my bikepacking rig from a 26" HT frame base but it already has disc brake tabs @ rear so i slowly hunted for parts ^^ after touring on rim brakes and encountering wet, muddy terrain i never again would tour on anything but a disc brake bike! Seems almost all 26" MTBs could fit 700 x 32c tires and i didn't have to cut off any of the bridges at rear of frame to fit em? you're on another level bro but had access to tools/workshop so kudos to your workmanship and nice bike ya!
Sir can I ask, about your project? How many gap in "mm" your brake rotors and chainstay at rear/front break? And what thickness of metal plate that you use in ISO mounting disk brake? Thanks for respondse sir and God bless😊
Awesome job!!!! Would have been better putting the rear disc brake mount on the chainstay tube of the inside triangle so you can access the pannier/mudguard mount holes.
Very enjoyable build to watch bike looks great, my only caution would be using a fairly big disc brake rotor on a front wheel with only 24/26 spokes. The loads put thru the spokes under heavy braking are enormous especially on a laden bike. I would not use a front wheel with less than 32 spokes, but still a great result happy riding.
you think it is safe to stick weld a steering tube to another and then remove te guide bar? wouldn't the guide bar provide a stronger bond? did you do a fail/fatigue test before actually riding that fork? just asking because i did the same on a fork of mine, but i kept de guiding bar. cheers beautiful bike
Been thinking about converting my crappy 820 to a touring bike. Probably won’t be as good as a real touring bike but I’ll enjoy it more than if it was a terrible mountain bike!
Should have used a SA XL-FDD dyno drum hub for the WIN. Mine has 26,000 miles with only one side bearing change. They need NO adjustment ever. I have done 2 tours with 4,200 and 3,900 miles through mountains. 100% reliability and unbreakable. The fork can though. LOL
This is the reason why I want a steel frame instead of my actual aluminium one, I want the ability to repair and modify later if I need it. Also that front pannier rack looks awesome, is it custom built or is it available for sale?
One film like yours is worth 20 films about factory-made new bikes - nice one.

Awesome, you did such a great job! This inspires me to rebuild my old Koga Miyata Terraliner to the look of your bike.

awesome bike and i love the green color choice, how much do you want for it?
All yours money 😀
Amazing.
Thanks bro...
Whats your impression of the disc brake holder after 1000 of Kilometer? Is a standard steel fork and frame strong enough for disc brakes?
I think it’s very strong. And I often carry my daughter on frame and all is ok.
Great video, that's what i was looking for, but i have to ask why you change the rear disk brake mount from chain stay tube to seat stay?
I welded disk brake, because there was only v-brake mount.
