The lawsuit is not talking about MtG, it was mostly about physical toys and board games. The inventory write off timing doesn’t line up with the time of Amazon dumps. The settlement or court decision would have to be an obscene amount to make any real difference to Hasbro. I doubt it will be enough to have any significant effects on MtG prices, probably less than 1% of the revenue just MtG brings in.
Exactly this is about every discount store sitting on millions of dollars of clearance hasbro toys. People know if you want a new toy wait a month and it will be sitting at Ollie's for 50% of its original price.
Most large companies have built in budget to deal with stuff like this. As you pointed out, it will still impact the customer in the end. Easiest thing would be for Hasbro to sell underperforming sectors of the company.
Ok hold up, I’m a multiple time business major about to graduate with distinction and a A average in honors courses. That money does NOT belong to HAS, they misled investors regarding their accounts which is fraud however HAS goes about recuperating those funds is their decision however it’s definitively NOT their money if/when they’re found guilty.
You want to know where I think those lost funds will be recuperated? From HAS selling their supply of treasury stock, because I don’t see enough liquidity in any product coming down the pipe in 365 days.
I guess WotC had it coming, they've managed things poorly in the last few years. There's a price to pay for everything that we do, always. Just another reason to keep buying stuff in the secondary market.
My worst concern about it is, if this his the one shot kill action or the first of a platoon execution to come with art issue, branding right issue, and so on...
How do you know? If the company thought they could make extra money by increasing their prices, do you actually think they wouldn’t do that just because they weren’t involved in a lawsuit? So now that there’s been a law suit they are going to JUST NOW decide to make more money? I don’t think that’s how it works friend.
Honestly, other than the card quality dropping and 2% price jack, all sounds like positive things. Considering nobody is happy with the current state of hasbro Wizzards.
if someone really wanted to take down wotc/hasbro they should have a class action lawsuit for pringled cards. how can you have a game that requires the cards to be flat and yet be disqualified for sanctioned tournaments for haveing bent cards
Wouldn't it be the sanctioned tournaments operating in error since the product isn't defective? At least that's what I hear you'll be told, I've never tried to send cards back to them.
I have our own potential clas action suit for us. Anyone open a box of "set boosters" lately? Strange how they feel like play boosters all of a sudden huh?? I have a bad feeling that any new products created, it's with the newer pull rates cooked in!
Hasbro like most big boys will take the lumps and pass it along to the consumer. Sucks but all we can do is be selective and hasbro can choose better management
To such a small degree it would be almost unnoticeable. It would probably mostly be recouped through digital since that’s their focus for 2025 and they just acknowledged MtG prices sensitivity so they’re not going to mess with that even more.
Fuck no. I don't want that cringey edge lord anywhere near anything that I remotely care about. Twitter is an absolute hellscape now - I can only imagine the myriad ways he could run this franchise into the ground.

This sounds bogus, what if there were a particular set that was released and the demand was extreme? Would Hasbro get sued for not making enough cards? No matter what, it's going to raise the price of playing the game.😢
That’s not the issue they’re claiming. They’re being sued for misrepresenting demand and dead inventory to try and protect stock prices. If they were up front about the numbers there wouldn’t be a case. They’re being sued for lying, not for messing up inventory. Whether that’s true will be what decides the case.
Does the lawsuit consider “popular demand” or “popular buying power”, cause the prices practiced were, and are, just ridiculous. Does it consider manipulation of prices, as it is occuring, and hoarding by speculative third parties? What was the parameters used decide how much of the material was printed? This lawsuit will die before the judge even reads it, cause it has little sustainable facts to support it whatsoever.
😂 what are you talking about?! Lol, hoarding what? No one was speculating on Nightmare before Christmas Yahtzee. 😂 The lawsuit is about misrepresentation in reporting, not that the fact that they messed up their inventory, just how they presented that mess up.

@@derrickpaulson3093 cool story. Still doesn't change anything.
