- Mick called into PJR to show us his mint HQ Kinga, he has an amazing quality build that has a bit of a sleeeper look but it gets up and goes, I was pleasantly surprised when we went for a drive.

The old man had a HQ 253, brother had a HX 253, I've had HJ & HZ sedans & still have a HZ wagon in the shed ...grew up with them & absolutely lovem. That's a real nice example (love the colour) & credit to you. 👍

Nice Qee Ha.1:55...Spotto piece of paper stopping the drivers dash vent from doing the spinning top...Classic HQ ailment and a laugh at 100ks...My funniest memories of a HQ sedan was at 110 on the freeway with the windows down when the rear window just said "I'm leaving" and flew out with a couple of back flips and shattered just in front of the car 2 cars back in the other lane.!..That was mid 80's.

Im truly Loving hearing the backstories on the cars. What a beautiful HQ. 383 stroker is my type of old school cool. Im currently building a 350 chev that i pulled out of a 73 Monte Carlo. When done it should wake my Vette up pretty good. I wanna hear Hanful's story, your HJ, and a 70s Falcon coupe if you can too. Keep up the great work during these restricted times.

Stories like this and others inspired me to go and spend a lot of money and buy myself a V8 Kingswood UTE, and what pushed me a even harder was filming the closing down of Holden MOTORS Hobart TASMANIA.

I had a 202 Tri-matic HQ back in the 70's. It max'd out at 86mph.
Pushed it to it's limits 👍👍
Surely it coulda done 88MPH? The real overtaking speed.
My dad had a HQ in the same colour combination.

Neat car and great segment! That car reminds me of a combo of a Chevy Malibu, Nova, and a bit of Laguna thrown in for good measure.
I reckon the aussie designers probably got inspiration from all of those
@@OvertakingLane I would agree. I spent time in Europe in the late 80's-early 90's and was impressed at how the GM platforms had an equal there. I would guess Holden was much the same.

My dads old HQ Holden Kingswood wagon which he gas axed because it was full of rust so it no longer exists ran the 202 cubic inch Holden six & trimatic automatic transmission.
He got the best of 14 litres per 100 kilometres (20 miles per UK gallon) out of it at its best or 15.5 litres per 100 kilometres (18 miles per UK gallon) or 13.6 litres per 100 kilometres (21 miles per UK gallon) on a holiday trip so the fuel economy was about the same as what fuel consumption the 383 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 engine gets.
I drive a tuned Holden VY SS Commodore which runs a 5.7 litre Chevrolet LS1 V8 engine which puts out about 300 kilowatts of power,I get between 13.1-13.5 litres per 100 kilometres (21-22 miles per UK gallon) on a mixed city/highway cycle,on the highway I might get between 11-12 litres per 100 kilometres,it does use more fuel since I upgraded the exhaust system & got it retuned,it put out 276 flywheel kilowatts when I first bought it in 2008 before I upgraded the custom exhaust headers to the Genie ones & replaced the twin 2.25 inch diameter mufflers with twin 2.5 inch items !
Yes my 202 PV back in the day used to go through the fuel as well, a lot of that was also caused by my dodgy mechanical work lol

Those 10-bolt Salisbury diffs were a bit suspect. Destroyed a few of them in my HG. This car reminds me of the HQ SS series.

Mean ride mate!! what intake manifold are you using combo to fit under hood ? I own a hq aswell Chevy 383 stroke about to put it in but I know clearance is issues cheers sweet vid
