- Those of you that guessed it was a HQ holden were correct.
Loneoranger orange.
308 5.0L engine
M21 4 speed
10 bolt sailsbury 3.08 centre.
The engine has been re sleeved back to standard bore. why? because we could.
This is a full every nut, bolt and parts used were new or proffesionally rebuilt rotisserie build that has taken us 3 years from the date of purchase.
In the home stretch now just the fiddly bits to go until first start up.
I look forward to seeing my father in law driving around in this beast.
Its so eye catching it will be hard to miss.

@@jkmsaturn it was a labour of love. Frustrating at times paying ridiculous prices fir second hand parts that I had to rebuild anyway.

It might look like a show car but its not a get up and go car, its a stock 308, so its a use the shit out of it and enjoy the ride car and for others to enjoy seeing it. Thanks for spending some time to comment. Much appreciated. It makes the channel feel like its worth it when people enjoy seeing what I do and leave a comment or two.

I actually built the car fir my father in law. I'm currently building my hq GTS coupe. So keep watching if you likecwhat you see. I have heaps of recent engine build footage for the coupe I have to edit so I can post it up.

We loved our Holden
They have a great sleek shape to them. I think the sill panel is the only straight panel with no shape on the whole car. Makes for interestng panel work.

Im loving it ! im just about to do my Q from drums to disc; great to know the prop valve is incorporated into the WB master cyl, thats what i will do now, thankyou

If you use the wb statesman brake booster and master cylinder like i did, it is dual diaphram booster also for better brake feel. Less foot pressure for the same braking force. When i do brake upgrades to disc / disc I always use dual diaphram and the largest diameter booster i can fit for the application.

It is slightly annoying the Quey bodyline isn't correct, I would also be dissapointed. It still looks amazing with nice lines and curvature. I think only HQ owners understand the differences with how awesome that first shape was with it's unmistakable grille through to the tail lights, and a dash that is somewhat questionable to others, I love it!! Great color, great fasteners, and the heater box delete, I'll stay tuned for this and see how it comes out. Cheers from "cunzy" VIC

Thanks, the colour is factory correct, The loneoranger. I just wish i was filming the first part of the build. I do have pictures i hope to string together later to show more of the earlier stuff.

That Merc power steering setup is a neat trick - Not seen that before, be great to get more info/a video about that. Yeah, shame about those rear contours getting deleted. Everything looks super slick though. Great car.

@MrCootsey yes its a wb twin diaghram booster and master cylinder. Fitted wb calippers and drilled/slotted rotors all round too. Stops awesome and so much neater in the engine bay without the proportioning valve on the chassis. Wb has the proportioning valve in the master cylinder. Hope your enjoying the videos. I'm no cinematographer but I like putting out videos that are informative for people.

Nice car. Only change id make is a modded stock appearance radiator. I hate them alloy looking aftermarket ones, they look cheese in every sense of the word. Whats your thoughts??
I preffer the pro tourer look myself, i really had to moderate things in my head for it to look this stock.
Lovely HQ. What hydraulic clutch setup is it running? Does it give a nice pedal feel? I’m putting a VN head 304 with a Muncie in my HZ and the rat trap clutch won’t fit with the extractors I’m using.
Hey @octagen69 it was a kingswood country set up. It came with the pedal, push rod, clutch master cylinder, mounting bracket, hose, bolts. Slave cylinder. And bracket, but It didn't come with a return spring for the clutch fork. I had a bit of trouble getting the system bled of air. Once I put the return spring on and the slave cylinder could return to home position, the air bled out ok. Its not a soft feel, it's fairly firm. Especially given its a standard clutch. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
@@SullysRodskustoms. thanks that is helpful. I’m going to run a 10.5” inch HSV spec clutch that is supposed to be as light as a stock clutch. Time will tell. I’m fitting the engine after Easter so just getting all the parts etc. sorted now.
You can drill a different hole position in the clutch pedal, higher and it will soften the feel. More leverage = softer feel.
@@SullysRodskustoms. Yes that’s an option. I might drill the pedal with a higher hole before installation in case it’s too heavy. I’m not too concerned but I want my missus to be able to drive it and she complains the rat trap set up is to heavy. Thanks for your help. I actually have an old Dellow hydraulic clutch set up but I’ve heard they aren’t great and the master cylinder mounts on a weird angle so I’m looking for alternatives.
How does the engine breathe ,there is no valve cover inlet breather . [goes out pcv to carb base.]
The water pump needs a bypass hose w/p to timing cover .
The rocker covers have a port on one end of each. The front one drivers side is blanked off, the rear has the pcv in it. Passenger side head rocker cover. I try to hide the ugly stuff. Look closely and you will find it. 👍
Thecwater pump diesnt have to have a by pass hose. Depends on the year/model. I have a hq coupe matching number car it has no bypass hose.
@@SullysRodskustoms. Do u have constant flow heater either vintage air or stock HQ ?? [uses heater doors from memory ] . Along time ago for me as I use factory aircon that uses 3way heater tap .
hi Is the crash pad solid fibreglass or f/glass construction covered in foam /vinyl ??

Hey Paul, its solid fibreglass. It kind of looks ok, doesnt fit great but you know when it just doesn't look right?
It was purchased through gumtree, about $500 as it has the grain finish inprinted in it, plus about $50 delivery it came from victoria to wollongong, to kind of give you an idea of the delivery cost vs distance.
They sell for $400 plain, no grain so they can be covered in vinyl or leather.

Hey Paul, the new pad is coming from "dash original" just search hq dash pad on google, it will be the 2nd or 3rd business on the list. I think about $1200, ordered the twin vent version for A/C.

Are u going to paint it or leave as ordered colour . Did they offer different vinyls as I assume this would be better than paint .

Hey mate, The wheels were purchaaed from canterbury wheel and mags.
Wheels are called CTM GTS sprint.
They sell on ebay and deliver anywhere.
Front wheels are 15" x7 with +6 offset
Rear are 15x8 with zero offset
I purchased them as a set to suit the hq with tyres already fitted. They can fit any brand of your choice for extra. Ill check my tyre size this afternoon for you so you know the brand and size.
I paid about $1500 for the wheels and extra for my choice of tyres.
Tyres fitted and balanced already dropped off at my door. Ebay purchased.
Fitted on my wb statesman diff with wb disc brakes if that makes any difference. Fit perfect, look great.
Sorry i got the rim size wrong. They are 17" rims.

They should have kept the lines , on the side , it not their car to change things unless ,consent too do so , , i would be pissed it was a design to the car , ,
@Philly-lq6zr Believe me, wasn't happy. But for them it was plausible deniability, sating not there problem that many times, they believed it. Saying Job was finished and car delivered on a flat bed. Not only that. They stole the brand new WB BRAKE booster/master cylinder I had on the car. I had to buy another set up. The they denied that too. Magically the next car out of their shop, a silver chevy c10 truck had that exact brake setup. Crooks.
