Trans Band Tour Of Europe(Berlin)1982 Ben Keith,Nils Lofgren,Ralph Molina,Bruce Palmer,Joe Lala,Joel Bernstein & Larry Cragg Directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg
This IS performance! No net, no fancy lighting or props, and no fancy costumes. Just pure, “take us or leave us” rock and roll by Neil and The Trans Band. Neil had a STRICT no booze/no drugs rule for this tour. Good God, how was Nils Lofgren making those moves sober?! Magnificent! Honorable mention to Joe Lala for his role as The Clap Man.
Damn, Neil is truly on fire! Love it when he snarls on a bend and then just storms down the catwalk, shredding. I keep coming back to the video, in spite of the Bing Bong Twins swatting flies in the background, haha.
Yes I remember that my brother and cousin play like they were in a band but I'm the only one who played in a real band in the world of power point and warcraft
I love this era of Neil Young. I grew up all the time hearing my dad play the trans album, Rust Never Sleeps, and Berlin '82. I would have been 4 years old when trans was released. In fact.i remember being with my dad and going to the record store where he bought the record and the tape
@@jackmomma7481 ‘Berlin’ has the best versions of Hurricane and Hey Hey, My My is so much faster then the album version which is slower and his voice is more monotone
Bruce Palmer is hilarious. He reminds me of someone I know who i used to jam with. I show him Berlin and tell everyone, "this is back in 1982 when Bummer played bass for Neil Young" LOL
I agree! Love this stuff. Oddly perhaps, one of my favorite Neil Young albums is from this time - saw a tour where he opened solo on Piano and acoustic guitar, moved on to Trans era stuff with a few oldies, and capped it off with The Shocking Pinks. Might’ve played every song off of Everybody’s Rockin’. I love that album.
@@MotorMcMatt I saw a show from that tour. Athens, Ohio, front row, mid 80s. Every part of that show was awesome. I think he did the Trans stuff by himself, by programming the parts. Definitely for this song.
Neil Young • Mr Soul Oh, hello, Mr. Soul, I dropped by to pick up a reason For the thought that I caught that my head is the event of the season Why in crowds just a trace of my face could seem so pleasin' I'll cop out to the change, but a stranger is putting the tease on I was down on a frown when the messenger brought me a letter I was raised by the praise of a fan who said I upset her Any girl in the world could have easily known me better She said, "you're strange, but don't change," and I let her In a while, will the smile on my face turn to plaster? It used to be on You Tube. It was removed by Warner for copyright reasons. Thank goodness I bought the DVD. I think Sample and Hold, Computer Age and Transformer Man are incredibly underrated.
This one is not included on Live In Berlin official release, the songs included are removed from youtube, as are songs from : In Rusted Out Garage,Solo Trans and so on ...copyrights you see!!!
@@glechowski Yes, it was removed for that reason. The live concert itself was shown on PBS if I remember correctly. And I agree with your song likes, especially Sample and Hold. After seeing the concert at home on TV (in Alaska), I had to take a work related trip to Seattle. I looked for and found the CD at a place called Silver Platters. I also thank goodness I bought the CD. That was Young's best recorded live performance with his band of superstar talent. Just my opinion, of course.
Neil is great, but for me, the real highlight is seeing Bruce Palmer, his old bassist buddy from The Mynah Birds (featuring a young Rick James) and Buffalo Springfield.
@@batteryelectricvehicle2749 great description. TRUE disco involves brass an string ensembles. Because of that, it was very costly to produce; hence, why many disco artists only released singles and not full albums. And also the REAL reason why the genre just ended abruptly like it did. A massive misinformation campaign that used racism, AIDS, and hemophilia were the fear and shaming appeals used, which is why the genre has the stigma that it does to this day
Strange phase in NY's prodigious musical career. Hes trying to hard to be techno punk. Not him. But interesting. His classic and timeless lifetime body of work definetely sits outside of this.

I don't know much about him, but guys like him.... most of that is them feeding on the live energy. He probably just smokes a little weed here and there and a few beers
They way he walks across the stage at 2:00 while playing that solo.... Fucking epic!

I caught the tour at Wembley ... awesome!
That f**@ing old black sounds good in every environment he put it. Never, never a guitar sound was over this one.
Greatest Neil Young performance of his career, this particular tour was Young’s best
Nils really takes it to another level with his guitarmanship in this one
I assume you mean how he uses it non musically😅. Neil’s guitar is dominant, and as usual, amazing . Nils is a great player too
Saw him on the '82 tour in Worcester, MA. Great show.

Very much the "Trans" sound. I love this version.

Oddly enough one of my favorite neil performances, thanks for uploading!
How Weird! LoL Heard this when I was a kid around 1980/82? Saw "Shampoo" on T.V. last night, I heard it again. Had to find this. Glad I did.
Wow, I never saw this version and I thought I saw it all. Awesome outtake from Berlin.
My dad actually had this recorded on a beta tape back in the early 80's when this was first released
I love the vocoder on this one. Some interesting harmonies.
Especially when Nils says, "turned to plasterrrrrrrrr" and 'the trick of disasterrrrrrrr" that's badass
Superb!
Trans is such a sentimental album for me, and this is my highlight track. So cool that he pulled it off live like this!
This song was on the German VHS version. It's not on the dvd
Ow Man, superb, fantastic!
Here is one ghost i would really like and it's
SAMPLE AND HOLD
Thank you

Magic....
It's a Berlin 1982 video outtake
I'd never seen it
I wish there are others outtakes
ROCK ON NEIL!!!!
Why is Neil Young's name not included in the credits along with the rest of the band?

One of the highlights in Göteborg -82.

Kind of a Whirling Dervish!
Excellent guitar 🎸play
Excellent dentist

Disco
Not disco but Synth-Pop VS. Synclavier and a vocoder

Who is the guy @1:35 clapping at Neil ?
Thanks.
Where did you find this song? It’s not on the live DVD
This isn't from Berlin? Looks like it but I don't remember this song being on that performance
I’ve got the VHS. Mr Soul isn’t on it. Btw I wish the worst for the owner of the Berlin concert, who took it off UA-cam several years ago.
Nils was dabbing before it was cool!
Nils ate the brown acid that everyone was warned about 3 years prior during Rust Never Sleeps... and he has yet to show signs of it wearing off
some where thier footage newer buffalo spring fueled
What's going on with Nils lol?
Clearly Neil picked up some pointers from his adventures with DEVO.
Venus Flytrap on the hand claps.
What happens to him after that guy was clapping at him? That's some Beyonce sh×t

Nils seems a bit starved for attention.
A guy once rushed the stage with bad intent , nils just jumped up in suspended animation and wiped his crotch with the goons face ,
