    I drove down to Kansas City with some friends in '70(ish) to see Poco. Outstanding concert and Richie Furay was a huge part of that. Fast forward to 2014 in Northglenn, CO, (near Denver) and a struggling marriage was more than I could deal with. Did a search for a Christian counselor and I find Calvary Chapel Broomfield..... Pastor Richie Furay. Pastor Richie helped me thru one of the most difficult times of my life. God bless you brother.

      What an incredible story, orchestrated by a very wild, untamable God who Loves His Creation! This post has buoyed my faith in these times of much needed Faith and endurance. And even came as an answer to my daily prayer, "Father show me your Love, reveal yourself to me." And speaking of orchestration, I had no intention of watching this, but it just came into my view and I clicked on it.🤔☺ I am almost 69 years old and so these were my peeps, so to see that at least two of them became believers in the Lord Jesus has made my day! At 22 I was a lost young woman walking along a college campus, when some students came and shared the Gospel with me. I was defiant and angry, and this self styled God cursing "atheist" let them have a piece of my mind. That night I went home and I said once again and defiantly, "Ok God if your real, and this Jesus is real show me." And just like to the thief on the cross, He welcomed me into His Kingdom. So if your searching out there, just ask, please just ask, and see if He will not reveal Himself to you. (And send all negatives comments to me and not to C.😉) Thank you again for sharing this and Maranatha dear C!! 🫂✝🎺

    In 1987 in Monterey California I was in a band and we were the opening act for Buffalo Springfield Revisited. The only original member that night was Bruce Palmer, I got to talk to him for about a half hour before they went on and he told me the whole story about him and Neil coming from Canada and playing with Rick James and later meeting Stephen and Ritchie. He was very easy going, he still has his chops too.

    Not many people, alive at least, even realize that the Springfield's biggest hit, "For What It's Worth," was NOT written about the Vietnam War, but actually about a peaceful demonstration in front of tiny little nightclub for teens called, "Pandora's Box," which was later torn down. I was sixteen then, and was arrested three blocks from the scene on the way back to my 1953 Chevy when a sheriff in riot gear arrested me for being out after curfew (only 10PM in those days), summarily throwing me in jail. The reason for our demonstration was to protest police brutality, and I witnessed a lot of it that night, a pretty horrific experience for someone on their very first acid trip. Many decades later, I actually met and became friends with Dewey Martin their drummer, who had happily beat alcohol addiction with the help of AA, leaving this life clean and sober. He was a good man.

    • @laserluver1
      @laserluver1 Рік тому +3

      Actually, Steven said that it was written about both. He inititially started writing it for "the guys on the line" in Vietnam and then one evening when he was driving down the Sunset Strip, he encountered the famous police riot and used that as additional inspiration to finish the song.

      I believe Fortunate Son was expressly written for Vietnam movies when the shit got real. For What It’s Worth was written before and after going through when the shit gets real. White Rabbit was written for recovering from everything. Hello, I Love You was for the brothel scenes when the GI’s hooked up with whores.

What an asshole for missing the hall of fame induction of his best band ever, The Buffalo Springfield. Their music inspired me to get home alive from Vietnam Nam on Veteran’s Day, November 11th 1969. I proudly wore my uniform home that day and was called a war monger. I was also spit on. That was my welcome home. Nevertheless, what a great band. God bless the USA.

I loved the music of Buffalo Springfield. In the 80s and early 90,s, my Generation, Gen X, learned about what happened by your own generation and what a disgrace they were. Thank you again. Unfortunately too many of us from the protest side of that generation had no Idea what you and your brothers went through. Me, being from a family defined by military service (I have a second or third generation ancestor who was in George Washington's personal guard at Valley Forge and my first ancestor here fought in the Narragansett Wars-in short many in my family served), I had a different view. Many of my friends from HS died or were wounded in Vietnam and having been lied to myself by more than one recruiter, I did protest but never showed the stupidity of animus to returning soldiers. Many of us actually wanted you home and out of harm's way. Those of us who thought about it knew you had no choice but to obey orders once you were there. I'm sorry you went through that.

      @@dean7454 It's about making a commitment and then backing out after everyone else was invested in seeing it happen. And it's about not just doing this once or twice, but many times, both to BS and to Stills individually (when Neil just decided to stop showing up, without warning, at booked "Still-Young Band" concerts in the 70s). And it happened to these guys again after this, most recently a couple years ago. It's not about Neil Young being the most talented musician in this group -- I personally think he is myself. It's about taking advantage of the fact that you are so talented so you can do inconsiderate shit to the people whom you called friends (and even wife) ... over and over and over again. Because you can get away with it.

      Couldn't agree more. I've made very similar postings myself about Neil, who is my favorite musical artist of all time. Letting people down seems to be a consistent pattern
      in his professional life. I remember reading about his "Stills-Young Band" abandonment in Rolling Stone in mid tour, he supposedly sent a telegram to Stills that said "Eat a Peach, Neil". WTF is that, exactly? And he can't even show up to be inducted with his bandmates? I guess it was "beneath him" to be inducted as part of a group.
      Well, I got news for Neil, he was never as good as he was when he was a part of that band. And not that he wasn't great as a solo or with the Horse, he was.
      Whatever it was, it was an insult to those inductees, and they had a right to be upset.

    Stills and Young have been down many roads together and has always been the Victim of NY’s ego and very bizarre opinion of himself regarding his superior importance to the groups he has been a part of. That being said, Springfield was one of the most influential bands coming out of Laurel Canyon, for that, we should all be very grateful, enough Said.

    Neil has given much to the world of music. He was a bit flighty it so seems in his earlier days and for me, my opinion of course; his political ideology is so bizarre and lacks logic to the point it makes me throw up a little bit in my mouth. But still his music endures and many of his words in his music has touched my soul and I respect him for that.
