😅I was very excited when i found this series, know so called tutorials besides this one explains really anything about the process. After part 2 i was ready to learn how to start actually cutting stones just be to let down by the absence of part 3. Thank for detail of 1 and 2. Back to my search for the rest of the information.

Like any machine, regular cleaning and maintenance will help to preserve and give longevity of use. Thank you Cliff for this video.

Hi Cliff, I find this series really interesting. I am recently retired and have taken up fossicking and once I have a sufficient amount of knowledge and raw material I would not mind having a go at some simple cutting. I am going to start with trimming & polishing some rocks first before deciding if I purchase a faceting machine, so for me your videos are spot on target. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin

Thanks silverback, that's the best just trim and polish by hand. If you enjoy that you can always facet later. Cheers Cliff

Excellent video, Cliff. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge with your many fans.
UltraTec machines don't use a belt, opting instead for a hard rubber "cone" to transfer the motor's energy to the vertical shaft. However, during routine maintenance one needs to give it a little attention.

Hi John, I noticed the V2 was direct drive. I think that is a good idea. I liked how the height could just wind up and down also. Other aspects seem cumbersome...

I suggest plugging the end of the quill and filling the quill socket with a gun cleaning solvent, using a qtip to agitate anything that may be on the inside walls. Then use denatured alcohol to spray out thr socket and wipe with your liquid parafin lubricant.

Great video. Unfortunately I don't clean to the same level as you. Note, not all machines can be disassembled to the same extent as yours, some you shouldn't otherwise you can upset the calibration/level of the machine. On the Halls , the swing arm pivot, the head to mast mounting block etc should not be taken off because it will effect the level of the head to the laps.
I scrounged some oxygen tubing from a hospital for my belt. Some heat, some CA glue it works well and is quieter!

Hi Cliff. Your videos are great and very knowledgeable... 👍
With the amount of time a person spends faceting one gem..-
Do you sell your gems for a normal price or just lower the price to get them all gone quicker?? 🤔

Thank you for the great videos! As a fellow watch guy, I figure you'd be the perfect person to ask, have you ever removed scratches from a sapphire watch crystal?

I noticed that the hewer models of machines always get more expensive, but also less powerful. Is there a suggested RPM range to look for in a machine? The older ones seem to go to 3000rpm but newer ones are around 1200-1500

My husband loves your videos. When I am listening, no offence but I do wince when you pronounce debris as Deb-riss. It should be De-bree.
