Like Frank, I've not tried this and in fact no Tormore ever. The initial off note is something I've found in a few drams and with a bit of time it can completely disappear... maybe not for this one. I learned something new here that Elixir Distillers bought this from Pernod Ricard. I don't know a thing about those guys so I'll leave this review with homework. I love "cornier notes" as a descriptor. I really appreciate that you try water in your reviews because I almost always do that to see how I prefer to drink a whisky. Thanks for another excellent review, Jim.

I’ve not tried this Tormore or any other Tormore to be exact.
So it’s always interesting to watch a review on another scotch whisky that I haven’t tried.
Many thanks for the review Jim

Very interesting to hear about this whisky in this 12 Year series - official bottlings are pretty hard to come by here in the US. Great breakdown, Jim! Cheers.

Tormore... one of the most under-the-radar distilleries for me. I'm in Bud Jenkins' "camp", I don't think, I've ever tasted anything from that distillery, not even as an IB at a whisky festival or a tasting, and I don't have a bottle in my own collection.
I've seen a Watt Whisky bottle recently, but I wasn't curious enough to pull the trigger on it. Maybe some day...
I had a 21 yo OB Knockando bottle (1997 vintage) a couple of years ago. Quite lackluster for a 21 yo whisky imho even though, it was actually quite early in my whisky journey. I think, I kept a sample of it, if you're interested, I'm not in a hurry going back and re-visiting it 😂😂
Cheers, Jim. Thanks for the review! Looking forward to the next one...

Thanks for reviewing this "Pearl of Speyside".
This was the very first Bottle i bought at the Beginning of my Whiskyjourney about 2 Decades ago. A Local Dealer recommended it to me in his very small, dark Cellar Shop in Speyer/Germany. It was around 30€ and it paved the Way for many (my Wife would say tooooo many 😅) more Expressions from Scotland and other Countries.
Makes me happy to see this one again. 😅

One of my first malts great for newbies very drinkable for those who complain about burn and roughness.

I’ve driven by Tormore Distillery a few times. It looks HUGE and very photogenic but unfortunately it isn’t open to the public. I’ve never seen a bottle on the shelf here in the USA.

Never tasted any Tormore bottlings so nice to hear your take on the 12 even if it is discontinued. They're an under the radar distillery so perhaps there are some niche bottlings that are worth a punt perhaps in a tasting flight. Cheers Jim.

    Thanks for reviewing Jim.
Haven't tried this Tormore (in fact only a few IBs ever). Curious though what the future will bring for Tormore.
