    Ask "The Lawn Care Nut" for advice on the grass, he's a floridian and helped cleetus do his grass. I'm sure he could point you in the right direction for what's best in that area

    • @WhatsIncluded
      @WhatsIncluded Рік тому +1

      I'd have to watch him again to get familiar Florida types. But he's probaly just gonna reccomend some type of st Augustine. Which is a type that handles that heat and climate. As long as he has a heat resistant grass and the water he'll be good.

      @wcovey25 Рік тому +2

      @@WhatsIncluded I just checked his video and he used what you said "Scotts ProVista St Augustine grass". I think he picked that for different qualities because the infield needed a quick self healing grass. Idk if that's the best grass for a home or not

    • @WhatsIncluded
      @WhatsIncluded Рік тому +1

      @@wcovey25 yes it's great for the heat since it's a wide blade grass type. I'm not in their climate but theres plenty of different types that would work there. Also to note he already has an established yard so itd probaly be smarter to just get whatever grass he already has. Seems like normal lawn maintenance was the only reason his yard doesnt look good so whatever is there should be fine.

      @@wcovey25 @Whatsincluded it’s also really maintenance intensive because it creeps on everything it’s good for Allen or the racetrack because he like making videos and the track repairs itself after a event but it would cover over all his sprinklers in a couple of weeks without him ringing them every week and that’s before we talk about the driveway and beds
      Keep in mind Allen is a obsessed yard work nut and expends a lot of extra and unnecessary time and effort in chasing a ocd perfection that ultimately doesn’t create a healthy or natural biome but a ocd “show yard”

    Grass seed: Not sure about Florida but where I live, I usually buy the 40lb bags as soon as they are put out around march. I cannot find any of the 40lb-ers later in the season. Sometimes I overseed in January/February, I have to buy it the previous year. Check with your local stores to find out when the seed you need is available. Some wholesale or bulk stores will sell to non-business owners but you may be able to use your business name. Nice job, irrigation system.

    So, for about 10 years we had a temporary car shelter. One of the tarp style ones in our side yard. It was storage and shop at different points. We never thought grass would ever grow. But we raked it real well and put a bunch seed down. Then covered the space with burlap. The burlap kept animals and birds from eating the seed. With in a few weeks we had grass growing up 1-2 inches through the burlap. At that point we gently pulled up the burlap and had the most lush velvety grass.

    Highly recommend St.Augustine grass in Florida. It is the easiest to take care of, drought tolerant, repairs itself, etc. only issue is that you cannot seed the grass. It has to be put down via sod. So a regrade of the lawn and fresh sod with some starter fertilizer. It would really fill in well here and the lawn would look great.

    For future knowledge. You can buy/make a 'Pull Plug'. Basically its a metal cone with a sturdy attachment at the tip and tail that you use a winch to pull through the old pipe. You attach the new pipe/conduit/cable to the backside of the plug. As you pull the plug enlarges the path and the new pipe/conduit/cable follows along behind.
    Obviously this dosent help now but figured I would at least share the knowledge with ya.

    Being in Central FL, the grass you had was St. Augustine. You can't seed it, but now that you have irrigation, you could plug it and let it spread. It will require fertilizer, and a pre-post emergent weed control to keep it manicured looking, and mow it relatively high. You could also re-seed with different grass. I'm a fan of Zoysia and Bermuda, but Bahia is an option, although it's less ornamental, and more erosion control.
    If you want to overseed, Bermuda and St. Augustine can thrive together, and creates a dense lawn, but doesn't look as nice as a single type of either. I think the fenced in dog yard section would benefit from Bermuda, while the open areas can easily come back with lush St. Aug.

    When threading together plastic to metal pipe threads, 1 - use thread sealant not tape, the tape bunches and applys added pressure to the plastic fittings and causes the plastic to crack. 2 - it’s best to use plastic male threads into metal female threads. I’m actually a plumber by trade so I might of seen a thing or two and caused a thing or two. Also your irrigation valves might have a knob on them to adjust the flow up and down.

    You should think about testing the soil PH levels, along with watering, PH is something you can control (by using additives to raise/lower PH levels) and it has a huge impact on grass health.

    Late now.. but cut out the asphalt. They sell asphalt patch. Run through the yard. Then cut a chunk of the slab out to create a channel. Can reconcrete the section cut out or use bricks to fill it (makes fancy).

    Search “Pipe bursting method” for any future repairs. Use pex. Essentially pull new pex through straight runs. Little late now but would have been perfect for under your drive.

    For anyone looking at doing this kind of work, DO NOT mess around with schedule 20 pipe. You will regret it. Once that stuff gets a little age to it, it cannot be worked with. You can't cut it because it embrittles with time. It's so thin that if you heat it up to cut it, it just deforms. Use schedule 40 PVC. That stuff can be hard to work with when it ages too, but it's strong enough that you can hit it with a heat gun to warm it up a bit, then it cuts like butter, and it won't just shatter randomly for no reason like Schedule 20 will. Oh, and it's more expensive, but PVC pipe is cheap! Don't cheap out on something that's already cheap. Just pay the little bit extra. The fittings are what tend to kill you on cost anyway. Get the good stuff.
    Edit: Also, if you want to bend PVC to conform to a turn, you can do it easily. Just heat it up with a heat gun and you can put any angle you want in it. Trick is to not get it too hot so it doesn't fold.

    I run a rental company in Kansas you should rent a seeder slicer. Billy goats are really good! But I would recommend you use a broadcast spreader to distribute your seed the seed hoppers on any slicer don’t work as good as they claim.

    Should go to a farm supply store for seed. You replace the full line and upgraded from a carburetor to EFI for your lawn care to keep it green. Then added CarPlay to control it all with your phone. Nice job. Will need a update on who you lawn is looking. Maybe get a Sunday Lawncare to sponsor your channel?

    A couple of quick thoughts for "part 3". If you're going to reseed the entire lawn, wait until the fall. Trying to get new grass to grow as you come into the hottest part of the summer is most likely not going to work well. Second, when you're looking for grass seed, do your research on what will be the best grass type for you. Then, please do not attempt to buy that seed from any of the home improvement stores(except maybe Ace, but only if you check the label). A lot of the bags of seed they sell there are less than 50% actual grass seed. I'd look into finding somewhere online to order from, or else you could look around for a local nursery/garden center and they might have some. Just make sure you check the label on the back where it will list the percentages of material in the bag. Ace has some that are almost pure seed, but a lot of the other brands at big box stores will have crazy amounts of "inert matter" which is not what you want.

    Ive always had the best luck finding bulk seed at Tractor Supply, at least as far as chain stores go. If they don't have it in stock, they can usually order it.

    Get a roller, and an aireater. I would guess that you could rent them, or hit up Allen the Lawn Care Nut. They are designed to be dragged behind a lawnmower. The Roller should help flatten out the area that you dug up, and the aireater should too.

    Hey Taylor, next time you need to run a pipe under a driveway. You can rent a machine called a "Mole impact." It works off compressed air, kinda like a impact hammer. It makes life so much easier. You can rent them from home depot i think & prerty much any equipment rental place carrys them. You can usually rent them for around $75 a day give or take. The amount of time & work it saves, more than pays for it self in my opinon.
