Okay I just added to my amazon cart and about to print the cards! Thanks so much for providing this! Please do more videos like these! They are so helpful!
I think it's really cool that you are encouraging interest in insects and not just animals like mammals from such a young age. I was discouraged from my interest in insects as a kid... if I was raised like that I probably wouldn't feel guilty for liking them
Ahhh! I am so glad I watched this. I spent a lot of time recently making cards for all my toddler's new Safari animals. I thought I was doing it right by getting a nice photo off Google to match with. I didn't even consider doing identical cards first and looking at it from a perspective of there being levels of matching. I just got so excited and wrapped up in creating the activity that I didn't consider the person it was even made for. I am going to save them still for when she masters the identical cards. THANK YOU for providing the ones you made!
I've never seen cards used this way before! And I love how you decided to not use words at first and develop an effective progress. You even thought about the number of the cards that would be best. Thanks for posting this and I will share it! --Matt
It definitely took a fair amount of time, so thank you for saying as much. You are most welcome, I hope your little one enjoys it as much as mine does! 😊
This is amazing! I am so inspired right now! We don’t have anything like this! And I know that your daughter is an excellent talker from all the other videos I’ve seen!
Yay!! 👏🏻😊 I’m so glad I can help, that makes me the happiest of all! The links to the card sets I made is in the description box if you want to try them out!
Absolutely brilliant! My 22 month old great niece has been living with me and I"m always looking for activities to do with her. I already own that laminator and a huge collection of playmobil animals. I can"t wait to make the cards! The playmobil animal pictures should be easy to find.
My granddaughter is ready for cards, so thank you for the link to the figures and the cards. Her mom is so busy, so I'm glad to be retired and can try these wonderful ideas. Connecting Kylie's actions with specific insights and suggestions really make the video instructive. Thank you, Ashley and Kylie!
Thank you so much for the cards and linking all of the objects. I’m a Montessori teacher, but for elementary, so the toddler years are new to me! I have a 9 month old and very excited for her to start these activities when she’s ready!
So much fun! Maddie loves doing these kinds of activities. We added in the “that’s not my...” books from Usborne. She can match the toys to the animals on the books. They aren’t “realistic” pictures but we found she’s learning a lot of vocabulary. It’ll show a bumble bee with wings that are fuzzy or shiny. They can touch the parts of the animals and learn the vocabulary associated with different feelings. Since the books follow the same style and the feelings like bumpy, shiny, smooth, etc are pretty much the same for each book she’s started to “read” them on her own. It’s pretty cool! She gets very proud of herself when she reads through the book on her own. Also, everyone tells me I’m crazy for buying a laminator. They just don’t understand!
We’ve checked out a few of those books from the library before, they are definitely fun for the littles! :) And Kylie is obsessed with my laminator... lolol
Hapa Family Maddie’s obsessed with those books. I ordered some wooden letters and numbers and was thinking maybe this same matching game would work with those 🤔
This is such a good idea! I’m getting married next May and we plan on our own +adoption for a large family and this is such an amazing positive reinforcement opportunity too! If you looked into what animals your zoo has and replicate them in the set you could even take her to see the real animals!
I love this! I can't wait until my son is older and can do this😍 Great Job! Also I just was thinking about making a scavenger hunt with these. I don't know if it's Montessori but it could be a fun activity for the kids.
Hi there! I love this series! Just ordered some figures from ebay where they were cheapest and bought a laminator lol can't wait to set up my girls station. Need to head to goodwill to look for some storage baskets and colorful scarves. Thanks for the motivation/inspiration!
I love the activity but the Toobs are officially only for 3+. How young do you start and/or how do you manage having them for the older child but safe for a younger one? TY!
Absolutely amazing channel! So useful! Storing all this info for when i become a mum! I have a question? You mentioned not to point out mistakes. At what age do you make children aware of their mistakes?
your videos helps me alot with my toddler. she's 25 months old i came across of one of your video and changed my parenting and perspective about toddlers. thank you so much. i would greatly appreciate it if you have canadian amazon link as well if you are affiliated with any products, thank you
Thank you for this resource! My son is clearly in a language sensitive period and I'm freaking out trying to find him age appropriate learning activities!
This activity is one of our favorites as well, we only have wild animals so far. I need to get some different ones, like insects. I never thought of the different ways you can use this activity, I am going to use Spot the Match, I like the idea of having them choose something. You are so good at explaining how everything works and how you should use it the right way. I need a laminator asap :D. Great video, Ashley ❤️!
I love my laminator, lol, and so does Kylie now! She’s fascinated by the whole process and loves to help me! 😂😂😂 I want to get more figurine sets and create multiple sets of these cards, she loves the little games so much she asked me to play them during lunch today, hehe.
Super video, as always! I was wondering, how would you do this type of activity with a 12 month old? The same way? I find it a little hard to keep out little one engaged, as it’s still a little hard for her to match them by herself. Is there a variation you would recommend?
hahahah I would have already said like 500 good-jobs, yeii you did it... this takes some getting used to. just starting with all this Montessori world with my 4 year old. wish us luck!
Thank you for these videos - I’m a bit late to the game but they are great. Have you done a video about Montessori techniques when teaching a second language? I’d like my child to learn her mother tongue but don’t want to confuse her - thanks!
Hello Ashley, at the end of the video you said you would put links to google docs that you put together that has a set of similar cards but anfortunately I don’t see them. there are only links for sets with identical cards. Could you please share those (google docs) as well?
I am teaching my 9 month old some of the animals with sign language. Is it okay to also use the figures at such young age. Schleich’s animal toys ay they can be used for ages 3 or more.
I have been binge watching these videos - such tremendous resources! I was wondering if you have a separate storage space where you keep toys that are not on display in the play area - like the sensory bottles, etc!
Yes, I keep them in bins in her bedroom closet on high shelves (out if her reach). 😊 You’ll see it in her Toddler Bedroom Tour video here: ua-cam.com/video/n1w2wUgnsMA/v-deo.html
I bought different sets of animals jungle , farm, insect , marine and its more than 150 animals altogether . I am thinking whether or not to display all the animals on shelves or to store all the animals in baskets and take some out and rotate them regularly . what do u do ?
This is great! I would really like to use this resource with my sons... in French (living in Quebec Province, francophone home). Would you be interested in having them translated? I have been working as a translator these past 8 years (well... before turning full-time mom). I would be happy to translate the cards free of charge just so other families could benefit from them in French too. : ) Please reach out if you are open to the idea.
Thank you for showing us how to introduce and use the activity. How do you introduce the items when you do toy rotations? My understanding is with Montessori you want them to figure out how to play, but do you first model it then let them play? I"m a little torn because if I model it, I feel like I'm enforcing them to play the way I show them but if I don't, they don't seem to figure out what to do with them. Also would love to see a video on how to introduce new activity for toy rotation if you get a chance. Thank you so much!
When introducing a traditional Montessori activity, there is always a “presentation” to the child the first time. After that, it’s up to the child to take the time they need to master it. In a home environment, you could certainly do a presentation if you’d like, but I think it really depends on what the activity is. If you’re introducing something that is more of a “toy” than a specific activity that follows a process, you could just put if out for your child to explore on their own. I think at home, it becomes a personal decision based on your goals for your child. As far as how we introduce a new activity in our house after a toy rotation - I just rotate things as needed and if it’s something new, I do a presentation for her when she first discovers it and takes it off the shelf.
@@HapaFamily Thank you so much! Your videos are extremely helpful for parents like me who want to do Montessori but not sure where to start. They are super simple and practical and I am so grateful to have found your channel. Thank you! Thank you!

How should we rotate language baskets of different topics. Is it after the baby has mastered one set or different sets each day?

This is excellent. Not a fan of the very realistic insects but I understand the reasoning and I agreed just yuck lol
