All I could glean from the info shown above was that this vid was posted in 2019...then I saw all our friends were MUCH, MUCH younger. Finally found that it was actually filmed in 1994! Thanks to whoever posted that because I was about to write to the 'Team to find out who their plastic surgeons were!

This video blows my mind, first season of TT, but the show is finally hitting it's more fluid pace that we all came to know and love. More polished, better pacing to keep energy in viewer interest involved. Transitional.
This whole program is so pleasant. It's a witness of a culture, it's architecture, values, attitudes, well worth protecting and preserving. Its nice to see that Phil’s hair has always been outrageous! Tony Robinson actually has hair, too! As an aside, one never properly says “Over and out.” “Over” means there is more to come, while “Out” means there is nothing following, so one has to pick one or the other.
Err, what kind of brook at 26:09?! I had to look at that twice to see if what I was hearing was what I was hearing! I wonder if that's the origin of the infamous creek that one doesn't want to be up with out a paddle.
I'm in NZ, and this show always makes me weirdly jealous of the soil in England. So rich and dark. I wonder if it's just geology or if it's because it's been cultivated an fertilised with animal waste etc for so long.
@@fionnagrant6636 The *Romans* wanted *Britain* for the farming surplus it generated. There were also lead, copper and iron but the food was primary. Most of the _villas_ were farmhouses as well.
So interesting. Much paper and not a lot of scanning or technical data. This looks like the bridge of archaeological sleuthing and technical science in digging up the past.

As an American, the Brits just seem way too casual about this stuff. Lady, you've a doorway more than 500 years older than my whole freakin' country! Be amazed! 😂
That is nothing compared with roads which date from Roman times. Though we must admit these have been refurbished from time to time. Not that it really shows.
As an American whose had the opportunity to travel in Europe some I’m always amazed at how old things are. We get excited about 18th century archeology, the Brits just dig past the stuff and keep going.

Notice the sharp edged cars , typical 1980s, which would still have been around in the early 1990s.
😂😂😂😂
not just that but they're all much more nervous on camera (except Tony)
now 30 years ago! is this the oldest doc show?
Victor Ambrus…I really love his way… silent but never missing a Word…this Episode is a precious! Thanks from Germany…
It's nice to see these old episodes and see how it all started out. Then to see one of the last episodes and see how much it evolved.
I miss Mick, he was, and will always be, a kind, beautiful man
Verily
I adore Mick.
This is probably the most relaxed start to a Time Team I’ve ever watched Tony and the gang do 😂
It was the first episode filmed (apart from the pilot).
They're all so young! But I love that they've maintained their enthusiasm all these years.
I think the sophistication of any civilization can be measured by how much they value their gardens, large or small.
Wow I had no idea how long this show ran, this is practically a different product - I'd love more!
All the episodes are available on YT. Just type time team
i think they started in late 1993 or early 1994, and ran for a very long time. i saw one episode where they were celebrating their 200th show
Inman ways, I prefer it
“Much Wenloch in Shropshire” is just about the most English thing I’ve heard in a long while.

Right next to "Buggering-on-Madcow with tea and crumpets."
That’s English? It sounds like a foreign language. 😂

Sad I wasn’t able to experience these as they came out before but grateful to see them now
I love how they are basically fangirling over a wooden beam and stone arches!
They are so young-1994! The geophys machine was as big as a backhoe. Love that folks can write in and ask about what they found in their back garden.
Oh man, Phil is just DOING IT with that mane of hair, my stars.
AH! More Time Team! I love that show!
Love your story telling, Tony!
Thanks for posting,
A Yank with British roots, I really enjoy this show!
Thoroughly enjoyed it. I believe it to be the oldest (chronologicaly) of all the episodes I've watched.
This was one of the earliest Time Teams. The format isn't as formal as the later ones. More hair on the presenters too.
People living in the same structures from different eras of history!

Exactly!

To think that 3 of these Time Team people have passed away already.

Baldric talking about Old England
Good times
Back when the epaulettes on Phil’s coat still had their buttons..
I hope the fellow, now proud owner of a grand ditch, gets a grand new garden out of all this fun.
This was recorded in 1994, hopefully, he's still well and having a nice garden :)
This one is so early that we are missing Mick’s striped jumper and Phil’s “lovely” hat!
Young Phil was like a small boy asking for his football back when he knocked on that bloke's door!
This has to be 30 years old, because it's before Tony lost his hair.
