@@badiarov I guess what he is asking is once you have determined the distance from the string length, then do you match it with the distance between the plates from the inside of the body or the exterior of the body. (which then this distance would include the plate thickness and everything in between)
@@simon0yeung Great question and a great answer to your question is already within the question you asked: either inside or outside, you are free to chose. This method, or the revival of the old masters' method, is a seismic shift in luthiery - from making copies from posters, to making originals based on centuries of cultural traditions which shaped and inspired much of what we call "European culture", which in turn was possibly influenced by Taihe (China, 11th century BC), Sphota (India, 5th-4th centry BC), and of course the Greco-Roman cultures; a shift from thinking in millimetres to thinking in musical terms, and as such - towards a tad more harmony. I hope this helps.
Hi Jonathan, thanks. Normally iDEAL is accepted, but if for any reason you could not see it, try this link: buy.stripe.com/7sI5ll9LT1SHb4Y4gk If it does not work, please, let me know. Thanks.
do you know what is really funny, i cant play the violin, but i have always thinking of instead of playing the violin for a long time, to use a vibration device on the violin @Dmitry, can you tell me (if you want) what kind of vibration device are you using?
What's really funny is that I can't really play the violin either though for a luthier, I guess, my technique is sort of acceptable. There are tons of different vibrators. They are sometimes called tone enhancers. if you Google it you will find what you believe is the best for you. I am using the one from www.violinman.co.uk/acoustic%20enhancer.htm This is not an affiliate link, I am sharing it because I genuinely care to help you and the manufacturer, not because I am seeking to earn a few pennies in commissions. Another one you might want to consider is Tonerite. Does this help?
@@badiarov Thank you so much, actually i am trying to learn making violins, my father did that whole his life, but unfortunately , he is really sick and isn't able to help me out, i wish i had master teacher like you to instruct on how to make a violin, all basic principals on ho todo this i already know, it is just giving me instructions on how to do this, wish i could visit you one time. Thanks for all your instructions!!!. And by the way, i am researching in on how to transmit real violin music into vibrations.
@@mkdijkstra4855 Sorry to hear your father is unwell. Of course, you already know all the basic principles you just need to know how to do it. The good news is, it is unbelievable simple, like playing the violin - just move the bow across the string and stop the strings at the right time and at the right place. That's really all to it. The rest is art, might take a lifetime to master and there is no end to it, if anyone will listen or pay for one's music is another question and the latter too is a very interesting task to solve. With making violins it's the same. Come for a visit when you are ready.
@@badiarov Your right, well i am always ready for the visit, i have all violin tools and wood to make violins, only thing is, i only need some practical tips, i just don't have the time to go to cremona to learn it, i just want to make one violin under supervision, i rather pay someone money for it then going to cremona, and could not be at home for long time. Where do you actually live? , thank you for replying and taking your time for answering me
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience :)
My pleasure 😊
I love your explanations, find them very interesting. Thank you!
Glad you like them!
Dmitry, Thank you for another great and informative video. Received your book and I am enjoying it.
Hi Tim, that's so kind of you! Thank you. Glad you received my book and enjoying it. It was such a fun writing it!
Could you tell me where to find that electric instrument that you attach to the bridge to force a certain vibration?
www.tonerite.com/products/violin-tonerite
What frequencies do you use on the external source to vibrate your violin - do you connect it to the bridge, or the body top?
Different frequencies. I connect it to the bridge.
For the distances on the violin body, are you measuring from the exterior, interior, or center of the plate thickness? Thank you!
String length. Body does not make any sound on its own, string does. It's in my book.

Who is the name of the authors you talk in the video?
Thank you for your question. Actually, all the names are mentioned and I am not sure what you mean. Thank you.
He was talking about Pablo de Sarasate. I sadly do not speak Spanish though.
Dear Dmitry, I would like to buy your book, but I don't have a credit card. I live here in the netherlands, and can pay via directe transactie.
