i never flew before. I bought this plane after watching your video, clicked on your link and ordered it. I have flown it 2 times in a soccer field with no wind ok. First time I crashed every 20 seconds. Second time I was able to fly for about a minute before crashing. no damage. If I get close to a tree, I just cut power and crash it. It really takes a beating without damage. Even drove it straight down into the ground full throttle a few times. When you make a sharp bank, it nose dives (I guess because no ailerons so can't use ruder to prevent dive). But it is teaching me to be gentle with the controls. Takes a while to develop eye-hand coordination. Still turn the wrong way sometimes when it is coming right at me, but will probably eventually learn not to do that. It does porpoise a lot. Haven't figured out what causes that. I tried full power, and less than full power. I think it is best about 1/2 throttle, but still no consistent so advice is welcome. I really like that I can crash it a lot without damage so I can learn as I go. I just bought it in late Sept 2020 for $100 including shipping (excluding tax), and I bet I can sell it locally for $75 when I'm ready to move up. Not many weekends left to fly, so I'll probably join a club in the spring. My goal is to eventually get good enough to buy one of those 100MPH A-10 Worthogs.
Brett Hammond sounds like you’ve got it going well. Take a look at our turbo Timber vids. That is a great second plane plus it has safe select if you want it. Sounds like your doing well.
This is a small beginner plane so adding Ailerons would only add weight making it harder to fly and decreasing the all important run time. If you want a 4 Chanel plane with Ailerons buy the full size version.
Hey anyone know how it does in different strenghts of wind. i live in london where it is windy quite often so im tryna look for a plane under £100 that would work fine in windy weather.
@@joeg986 so: weak motor (unable to do loops like the umx champ can) and unable to bind to radio. That is very disappointing. I had high hopes for this plane as it was a pusher prop and made out of epp foam. 3 channel was a little disappointing, lack tricle (i can see how that would make it more complex and less durable). But the lack of power and not be able to bind- that is a huge turn off. Solve those last 2 with 30 more and you have customers and a very good durable trainer than can replace the champ
Ok,everyone has their own option on what would be the best rc plane to start with. What is yours and why? Boy I would like to meet up with you and teach me to fly. I'm a newbie at 68 years old!😁
This is an awesome option on top of the larger RTF. The nose gear on the larger is so weak that I'm concerned about letting my kids land it. This UMX tricycle option will serve some a lot better. I could also see this as being more fun for them cause I could take them to a local ball field more often instead of the RC field some 30 minutes away. Makes me wish I had less wind here so I could use it with them instead of the original. I'd be more inclined to let my 8yo try to land it.
Nice video and explanation Ryan. Looks like a nice platform for a beginner. Looks like it is a good trainer without all the new stuff added that sometimes becomes a crutch. Like it...
I bought the bigger Aeroscout and liked it but found it quite hard to fly because of it's weight and speed. I just picked up the mini and I'm hoping it will be be easier.
@@Ddurocher82 It was absolutely awful. Do not buy it. As I gained more experience, flying I went back to the original Aeroscout and found it much easier to fly than before. It would be quite illogical, in my opinion, to spend 100$ on the mini rather than just putting in about 100$ more and getting the bigger one which you will actually have fun with.
I know I'm just some random dude on the internet, but do not buy the mini. You will regret it. I have bought like 8 planes at this point so I have a lot to compare it to.
@@henryolson7061 Not at all. If you're a beginner you need a plane with safe mode or some sort of autostablizing technology. The mini is very very hard to fly... even for experienced flyers
Nice review Ryan, great little plane, I'm buying this for my nephew who is a beginner pilot. So I'm seeing in the video a lot of porpoising, is this a CG problem? In my past experience with these pusher planes they all seem tail heavy, any room in the fuselage to move the battery forward if not I'll try a little nose weight....
I've see the porpoising on other videos too. It seems like a fun plane, but might need some work on the CoG. And for the money, you can get a 4ch that flies just as easily, or for a little more money, a 4ch brushless plane like the OMPhobby S720/T720. Which can also bind to any radio, since it has the option to plug in DSM or Sbus receiver. For a brushed 4ch I'd recommend the Volantex Sport Cub 500 or one of the Eachine micro warbirds.
Good video. I'd much rather see these companies come out with true four channel planes with more powerful motors. A plane can always be flown with less throttle for slow flight but in windier conditions the weak motors will just lead to a new pilots disappointment. Yep I was disappointed by a couple of planes that almost got lost because of a breeze that was a little stronger than the motor. Actually crashed a couple of times on purpose to keep from losing the plane. The Duet and the Sport Cub S2 come to mind. More channels and bigger motor cost a little more, I know, but in the long run the plane will be a keeper rather than a closet hog.
yes its a good start. I'd take a look at the ultra micro planes as well. UMX is what theyre called. Click the link in the description and take a look at the many beginner planes at Horizon Hobby
I’d be looking at the champ honestly unless you have an experienced person around to help. Both are fine. I just think the champ or mini apprentice might be better choices

Don't laugh I busted my $200 foam glider first try and I was a Jet Engine Mech in the US Navy so what you say? I just got this aeroscout mini rtf 3 days ago. Still learning

just bought this as my first plane. I love it!
I got this earlier today and it’s my first RC plane. Currently my longest flight is only about 20 seconds but it’s not too difficult
I think you'd really like the AeroScout. I left the gear off & added a little nose weight. Great flyer ; long flight times. Have a great week.
I did that also. You're right.
So thats what it's supposed to look like. I bought 1 today seemed to be upside down or nose first into the street alot lol
It’s a Nice introduction into the hobby.
looks like a mini Shywalker great review on a fun little plane
take care guys
Should have started with one of these. This is great where the plane teaches you to use your rudder. Awesome video bros

Kinda like the old arrow bird, my dad wants one, thanks for sharing 👍
Awesome beginner plane guys, thanks for sharing 👊🏼👊🏼
I have the bigger Aeroscout. I like it and it’s probably easier to fly as it has tricycle gear, ailerons, and stability control.
Yeah but I saved $230 getting the mini
(In Australia they’re really expensive the Mini was still $220)

Just got one for first time fly :D About to try it
Do you know if it will bind to a spektrum transmitter?
That’s what I’m trying to find out. See if it can go to my DX6e. I’m not sure
@@CaptainJohn Well I found out on Horizon Hobby that it will not bind to spektrum. Bummer.

Ah shoot, I guess that makes it cheaper to make, for $100 that’s what you get. Maybe if we all yell they will make a BNF. But who knows! :)

When I was learning to fly I could have so used a plane like that. Would have saved me about 50 broken props
