  • In this video, we dive deep into one of the most essential project management techniques - the Critical Path Method (CPM). Whether you're preparing for your PMP exam or managing complex projects, understanding CPM is critical to ensure effective scheduling and timely project completion.
    🔹 What You'll Learn:
What is Critical Path Method (CPM)? Learn how the CPM helps arrange project activities based on their dependencies, allowing you to visualize the sequence of tasks and calculate the project duration accurately.
Why is CPM Important? Explore why CPM is vital in ensuring you meet project deadlines by identifying activities that must be completed on time and those that can be delayed without affecting the project timeline.
Step-by-Step Process: Follow a detailed explanation of how to identify the critical path, manage parallel tasks, and handle dependencies to predict project completion times.
CPM in Real Projects: Discover how to apply CPM in real-world scenarios, ensuring you stay ahead of project deadlines while balancing dependencies and resources.
🔹 Key Exam Focus: As a PMP exam test taker, mastering CPM is essential. This method is frequently tested under the Schedule Management knowledge area. We'll walk through example questions and highlight key exam tips to ensure you are well-prepared to answer any CPM-related questions with confidence.
🔹 Practical Examples: We’ll use real-world examples to showcase how CPM is used to avoid project delays and optimize timelines. By the end of this video, you'll have a solid understanding of how to apply CPM techniques in your projects and ace your PMP exam.

    • @izenbridge
      @izenbridge  3 роки тому

Yes you can have more than one critical path and that makes many activities critical, mean risk of delay is increases since any of these activity not completing on time can delay the project.

For the critical path? What if we try to reduce the time by deploying more resources (material and personnel) or say from your example have someone else join the guy to finish the food on time? Is that possible?

    • @izenbridge

That is called crashing , its a schedule compression technique , where we allocate more people to a task to reduce its duration. This video gives some insight on same : ua-cam.com/video/OUY0RfGMLtM/v-deo.html

thanks for explanation. but it's interesting why source Rita Mulcahy 9th edition gives calculation a bit different ? As per RITA it's > ES + D = EF
but as per your explanation it is (which is as per PMBOK6) ES + D -1 = EF.

How do i calculate when activities overlap for example; 4 activities:
    - activity 1 takes 12 weeks
    - activity 2 takes 7 weeks but can start 4 weeks early in parallel to activity 1
    - activity 3 takes 7 weeks but can start 1 week early in parallel to activity 2
    - activity 4 takes 7 weeks but can start 3 weeks early in parallel to activity 3
i'm struggling to find the late start, float and late end as i keep getting minus?

Sir i have a question, like in some examplesi have seen people doing it differently, like here for Activity A they have started from day 0 & calculated EF as 0+5=5 ,not deducting 1, why is it sir ?
